The Dolphins signed safety Louis Delmas to a one-year, $3.5 million contract last year and they seemed to like how that worked out because they’ve done it again this year.

Miami announced Friday that they have re-signed Delmas and Albert Breer of NFL Media reports that the deal has the same terms as the one that Delmas signed with the club last season. The similarities to Delmas’s past don’t end there.

Delmas has dealt with frequent injuries during his NFL career, playing 16 games just once in six seasons, and he’s coming off a torn ACL that he suffered in December last season. It’s not clear when Delmas will be able to return to the field, but it’s probably fair to guess that the PUP list will be a consideration when training camp rolls around.

Delmas has played well when healthy for both Detroit and Miami. If he’s healthy, he’ll likely return to a starting role for the Dolphins in 2015.

The Dolphins also announced that they have re-signed running back LaMichael James. The 2012 second-round pick played two games for the Dolphins last year after being released by the 49ers. He had three carries for nine yards.
