Bengals bring back defensive tackle Pat Sims from Oakland

AP

The Bengals obviously have no qualms with bringing back known commodities.

The team announced they had re-signed defensive tackle Pat Sims, who spent the last two years with the Raiders.

The veteran spent his previous five seasons with the Bengals, and started 23 games for them. He started all 16 games for the Raiders in 2013, but was reduced to a rotational role last year, starting two games.

He joins comeback kids such as Michael Johnson and Brandon Ghee as returning to the Bengals after going elsewhere in free agency.

  1. For depth purposes only, not a bad reunion. They still should be looking for DT help in the draft though, Peko stinks, Geno is still a question mark, and Sims is not really a guy you probably want starting just a good backup. Now that MJ is back, him and Dunlap provide two good starters at DE just have to get Geno back to speed and pick up another solid DT in the draft.

  2. At least the Raiders didn’t give up a 1st and 2nd round draft pick for him, like they did with Carson Palmer.

    Lol!

that was Hue Jackson on a power trip

  4. Sims was derailed by injuries throughout his time in Cincy, but when he played, he was really good; he’s a great guy for their rotation and gives them more flexibility in the draft

He is a beast in the middle. Good signing, he will start next to Geno Atkins.

If by “beast”, you mean like a sleeping dog then yes, he really is a beast.

    Enjoy.

  6. So, with the Bengals bringing back Still and Sims does this mean they don’t plan on looking at DT like M. Brown?

  7. I don’t know why people expect players to be as good on bad teams as they were on a good team.
All I know is that, when he was healthy with the Bengals, the Run D was a whole lot better.

  8. oh well, I think with Antonio Smith, the signing of Dan Williams, and the way Jelly Bean, and Stacy McGee are improving and playing we are good with that rotation.

Best of success in Cincy Pat.

Go Raiders…..if we are lucky enough where Leonard Williams drops to us at #4 , and add him in that rotation…we we would wreck havoc.

  9. sellout1983 – Exactly my first thought as well. Everyone in the stadium knew Brees was trying to draw them offside except Sims. He should have been cut during the next time out.

  10. Ed3557. You get it. Our d line dominated with a aolid rotation. Sims can plug the middle for sure. If he could rush the passer he would be getting 8 mil a year. But he is not one of those guys.

  11. Just because they signed him, doesn’t mean he’ll make the team. I’m sure there was no guaranteed money in the deal. Still look for them to draft one in the first if who they like is there.

  12. That picture tells all you need to know about the Bunglers.

You’d never see a Hawk looking like that.

It’s why we’re the best franchise in the NFL since PC and RW arrived.

    And it’s not even close.
