When prospect lists for the 2015 draft started coming out after the end of the college season, Nebraska pass rusher Randy Gregory rated close enough to the top that there wasn’t much reason for team’s picking in the second half of the first round to give him much consideration.

Gregory failed a drug test at the combine in February, though, and that’s created some uncertainty about just when he might come off the board. As a result, teams that might have seen Gregory as out of reach are now considering the possibility that he’ll be there on April 30.

One of those teams is the Chargers, who own the No. 17 pick. Michael Gehlken of U-T San Diego reports that Gregory was in San Diego to visit with the team over the weekend.

The Chargers could certainly use some help off the edge. They had just 26 sacks last season and lost Jarret Johnson to retirement while opting not to bring Dwight Freeney back for another year in San Diego.
