The Chargers look to be bolstering their offensive line depth ahead of the draft.

Via his verified Twitter account, free agent offensive tackle Chris Hairston indicated Wednesday he was joining the Chargers, making the announcement in an Instagram post. The 26-year-old Hairston had spent the last four seasons with the Bills, who did not tender him a contract offer in restricted free agency.

Hairston (6-6, 330) appeared in 41 regular season games for the Bills, making 12 starts, with starts at both left and right tackle. He played 16 games as a reserve in 2014.

A fourth-round pick in 2011, Hairston is likely to compete for a reserve role with the Chargers, who have King Dunlap at left tackle and D.J. Fluker at right tackle.

  1. Bills fan here and Chargers made a good move. He showed talent early in Buffalo but was never able to get playing time after his injury and with 2 tackles staying healthy this year and having spent a 2nd round pick on another tackle we let him walk. (Also not drafted by current regime so they are keeping their guys first) But a fully reliable back-up who can start a few games where needed.

  2. I like this signing a lot. We need some quality depth for the O-line. It was really tough last year watching our O-line get ripped apart by injuries. This guy seems like an upgrade from Willie Smith as a back up Tackle. Well played.

  3. just a little early for me to make any type of an opinion, so i’ ll save my opinions until after the regular season starts and see just who is going to be the players on the 53 men after cut down. I will say this much at the present time, I would just like to wish Chris Hairston and ALL of the other Charger players the best of luck in the up coming (2015) season. IMHO, I just think that Rivers, should not be wanting to go any where else, especially with all of the new additions on both (Offense & Defense) sides of the line. It should prove to be very interesting this season, for both the Offense and the Defense and if the Offense can just protect Rivers and just give him those few extra seconds that he may need at times, I believe things will turn out so much better for everyone over the season.

  4. roocoop is a clown, but this is the time of year when smart employers bargain shop in the injury/potential aisle. Telesco isn’t pissing away money, and that is something you want from your GM.
