Schedule is ready, could be released before next Thursday

The NFL currently plans to release the schedule on Thursday, April 23.  Per multiple sources, however, that could be accelerated.

The schedule is ready to be unveiled.  And there’s a chance it will be rolled out earlier than next Thursday.  Wednesday could become the new target.

Regardless, it’s coming next week, no later than Thursday.

And it will be the biggest story in all of sports, even though no games that count will be played until three days after Labor Day.

  1. Of course the schedule is ready, the NFL doesn’t want the arron Hernandez verdict to take over all of next week.

  2. Just a wild guess but I’ll bet STL will finish on the road at Seattle. It’s only happened 3yrs in a row. Here comes 4. So original.

  3. Will my Vikings 14 losses be pre-circled or do we have to guess which two games we’ll win this year. Maybe we’ll top the Bears twice!!

  4. Can hardly wait for the 4 hour ESPN schedule show. And the panel of 8 to rise from their seats as they reveal, “Sunday night week 5…Ravens at Steelers!!!”

  5. No Deflategate because the NFL doesn’t like what it is finding – and I don’t mean about the Patriots. Remember that League employee caught and fired for illegally selling game balls from the very same game? He could not have been acting alone.

  6. I think they are going to try and slide deflategate under this. Just after, once everyone has had a chance to latch onto the schedule.

  7. The NFL has a well oiled system I can say that. They know how to keep you interested. The schedule will keep you interested and debating, then next week the draft. Before you know it it will preseason games.

  8. I know Brady laid a franchise worst 55 on the Steelers last trip into Foxboro (or is it Foxborough becase I have seen it both ways), but here’s hopin’ the Steelers play the Thursday opener there. Why?

-With the extra preseason game (HOF game), they can treat their last preseason game with total irrelevance. Be like a bye going in….

-They have the league’s top rated sched in toughness and the dreaded once in 7 years West/West configuration so they need pacing.

-NE will be breaking in a new secondary.

-Steelers lose Bell but Pats lose Blount?

We know becuz of the Pirates sched the Steelers will open on the road unless it’s Monday night.

So at the risk of being careful what you wish for, I’d like to see them open in NE.

  9. Whoops…too late. I was just going to say that the Raider fans will be on here whining about their schedule next week, but it already happened.

  10. Yes, and we ALREADY know:
    1) Dallas will be on Prime time 10 times
    2) So will Pittsburgh
    3) The Patriots will have every favorable match-up that might be against an AFC playoff team at home
    4) ANY Thursday or Monday Night game the Packers get will be at HOME. (Against the Vikings or Bears)

  11. Kraft has been alternating his time as a witness in the Patriot Murder trial with the NFL Scheduler to make sure:

    Denver travels to New England.
    Indianapolis travels to New England.

The rest of the schedule in the AFC East is a puff so it doesn’t matter.

The Raiders will travel 10K more miles than the 2nd most traveled team and have one of the toughest schedules….again.

    Go Raiders
    ——————————————————————-

Yeah, because THAT is the reason the Raiders have been losing all these years.

  13. As usual, the Monday night slate will be weak. This is appropriate because Berman and Tirico are awful. Tirico is constantly talking about coaching strategy like there is only one option to use (timeouts at the end of a half, etc.). Here’s a tip Mike: Let Gruden be the analyst. Less is more.

The Thursday slate will also have a couple of clunkers (can’t wait to see where NFL net tries to bury the Titans-Jags matchup).

I’m predicting Eagles at Pats for opener. For the Sunday night debut, I think the Cowboys are in against either Green Bay at Lambeau or Seattle at home.

  14. The perfect opener would be a Thursday night opener of Seattle at Green Bay.after the exciting game they played in the playoffs the NFL knows this game makes the most sense for top viewership.

  15. “The Raiders will travel 10K more miles than the 2nd most traveled team and have one of the toughest schedules….again.”
then they should put together a team that can win against anybody like the top teams in the league.

  16. Usually the NFL likes to have the AFC North injure each other early in the season, so Ravens always play Pittsburgh early. However, this year with Bell being suspended for the first game and given that the Steelers have to play the Patriots, the NFL will schedule Steelers versus Patriots Week 1.

The Patriot Way…. The NFL Way…Samething

  17. Why even play the games when we all already know the Cowboys are going to win the Super Bowl?

  18. The league normally at least announces who will play in the Thursday night season opener at least a few days before the full schedule, which means we should find out who will play in New England either today or tomorrow. I think they’ve even announced the first Sunday and Monday night games ahead of the full schedule as well, so those may come early next week.

  19. Typical haters. The opponents and home away are set by a formula agreed to thirteen years ago when the NFL got Mr October out of the AFC East and into the easiest division in football.
The only thing to decide is the order in which those games will be played and what time slot.

  20. “Eagles @ Pats in the opener”

I hope not. That would be a sure loss for the Eagles…not a good way to start the season. But I do expect the Eagles to get the max number of prime time appearances.

  21. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

    FACT….

However, Minnesota would lose the Super Bowl to the AFL champion Kansas City Chiefs in the final professional football game played between any two teams before the two leagues merged.

Viking fans JUST DON”T GET IT….

This is not a World Championship

Hey Assface; The Patriots go to BOTH of those teams this year.

    2015 Home Opponents
    Bills
    Dolphins
    Jets
    Jaguars
    Titans
    Eagles
    Redskins
    Steelers

    2015 Road Opponents
    Bills
    Dolphins
    Jets
    Colts
    Texans
    Cowboys
    Giants
    Broncos

  23. It’s amazing the number of “fans” who don’t realize that the opponents each team plays and the home and away are all worked out in advance. You could look up who your favorite (or most hated) team was going to play, and where, the day after the regular season ended.

The only thing we find out next week is the order.
