D’Qwell Jackson apologizes for distraction his assault arrest created

Police in Washington have arrested Jackson and charged him with assault after an argument over a parking space. A police report shows Jackson was arrested on the misdemeanor charge Tuesday. Colts linebacker D’Qwell Jackson said there’s another side to the story, the one about him threatening to kill a pizza guy over a parking spot.

Of course, he can’t tell it yet.

Jackson told Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star that there’s more to the story than the version advanced by the delivery man who parked in his spot and said Jackson choked him, leading to the linebacker’s arrest for simple assault.

“When time allows, there will be a chance where I can really speak on it,” Jackson said. “But all I can say is that I take a lot of pride in my career and profession and the name on my back. The guys hold me accountable in this locker room and vice versa.

“I apologize for adding another distraction for this team. I’m very fortunate to do what I do. I love what I do and I’m passionate. When the time allows, the facts will come out, but at this point, I want to apologize to the community and my fans and all my supporters out there.”

The case is still pending, meaning Jackson will get his day in court. And the truth may come out there, or at least Jackson’s version of it.
