Still waiting for #DeflateGate outcome

AP

Even though the NFL waited to issue a ruling on #DeflateGate before the Patriots visited the White House, President Barack Obama found a way to poke fun at the team absent a recent reminder of the scandal.

Now, the wait for a report from Ted Wells and a ruling from the league office can resume.

With the draft a week away, it remains unknown whether closure will come before the process of making picks begin.  Some in league circles think that, whenever it ends, the Patriots will be cleared of any wrongdoing, given the absence of clear evidence of intentional, deliberate tampering with the air pressure in footballs used during the AFC title game.

But that doesn’t mean no one will be getting in trouble.

As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior, including for example the identity of person(s) who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong.

Regardless of how it plays out, it needs to play out.  No matter how played out it all has become.

  1. wells paid by the hour joke inserted here

seriously though – a coherent discipline policy would benefit owners/players alike.

    shame we done have one

  2. I’m sure the Patriots are giving the NFL Office money to “forget” about the situation, and when it starts coming around again I’m sure they’ll keep giving them money to “forget”

  3. Don’t forget about how the only reeaallllyyyyyy under-inflated ball mysteriously was handled by the colts directly.

I’m not calling the colts cheaters….well ok I take that back

  4. Goodell favors his three buddies: Mara, Rooney, and Kraft. He won’t touch Kraft or his darling team, and everyone knows it. If there were going to be a punishment, it would be a draft pick, and that would have to be announced prior to the draft. Not going to happen.

This is just Goodell trying to play the media game again, so the outcome will be announced at the most convenient time for him. Something like July 3rd at midnight.

  5. why do you act like teenagers and put hash tags ever time you mention deflategate?

are you thinking someone out there will be doing research on the topic and start searching for the hashtag?

    I really dont get it

  6. Everybody involved in this is gonna get hammered EXCEPT the Patriots. The Colts, Kensil, Grigson, Irsay, Pagano, Harbaugh, the NFL and possibly the refs. I predict that a lot of people are gonna get burned because of the spite and jealousy of Kensil, Grigson, Harbaugh, etc.

  7. Between the leaks, the false information, the stolen game balls and charities defrauded by a league official, and the potential of Colts personnel tampering with a game ball to put a frame job on the Patriots in collusion with an NFL executive I’m sure Mr Wells has a lot to look over.

But contrary to what the illiterate adult football fans of the world believe, the charges against the Patriots fell apart a loooong time ago.

  8. The only reason this is even a story anymore is because it’s the Patriots.

They did nothing wrong, and soon they will be exonerate, and all the haters and conspiracy theorists can go back shutting the hell up while basking in the glow of the Patriots 4 Super Bowl trophies.

  9. Can’t wait till the Pats pickup the first rounder from the INDY TOWN DRUNK……..DRIVE4FIVE BABY. !!!!

  10. I really don’t think they did anything wrong. Kraft wouldn’t be outspoken if he was lying, he wouldn’t be okay with looking like a liar.

Ready for the report to clear them.

  11. Say what you will about the whole situation, but it’s pretty obvious that the NFL would just prefer that this all go away. It’s only made the league look foolish and inept with the length of time it’s taken to investigate and with the exposure of the corrupt official stealing balls intended for charity.

  12. So wait sec, did this article just say someone leaked that they are investigating who is leaking? The NFL League Office should be renamed The Gossip Girls.

  13. Goodell should be removed.

He has no integrity and is a disgrace being the face of the NFL. He made an example of Hardy to cover up his own lack of leadership and to take the focus off of the office he was intrusted to lead.

The lack of accountability from the League Office is shamefull and it starts from the top.

  14. Of course the LO and Wells (who’s been gagged) has made no ruling on the #DeflateGate issue.

They need to find a way to not be held accountable. Kensil took an opportunity to try to frame NE in his never ending quest to get back at NE.

Abuse of authority sums him up quite adequately.

  15. Another nfl coverup for the Pats and Mr Krapft.

This is ridiculous. I feel bad for their fans who get a win this year finally, but again clouded with asterisk for cheating.

  16. Quick Jon Harbaugh, there is still time to have the competition committee change yet another rule to cover up your incompetence and disallow Ted Wells from naming names!

  17. Whoa! That last part, “…who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong”. Well, don’t we already know the Colts GM phoned Indy reporter Bob Kravitz? Which one of these guys is being set up?

  18. “As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior, including for example the identity of person(s) who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong.”

Yeah, cuz thats the problem. We need to identify the good samaritan who called out the Patriots and their BS. This ranks up there with destroying the evidence of Spygate. Bob Kraft must have some dirt on ol’ Rog cuz Krafty sure seems to push Roger around.

  19. Sounds like it’s gonna be a whole lotta nothing in the end, especially if they’re now trying to find out who made it into a bigger deal than it needed to be by leaking it.

    #itsovernothingtoseehere

  20. The longer it is taking for “Deflategate” to end, the more I’m not believing it anymore. You’d think by now some source or report would’ve ca out about it.

  21. I thought the patriots fired the person that was responsible for the footballs already and pretty much said this is the guy who did it? Guess Brady wasn’t happy with that story so Goodell has to come up with a new one other than the truth of Belichick and Brady cheating. But it is funny how Brady really didn’t throw the ball farther than 10 yards in the air until about week 4 or 5?

  22. This has been the strangest “scandal” I’ve ever seen in sports.

Made national media headlines for days, then swept under the rug.

What have these investigators been doing all this time?

  23. Complete farce……… drag my team through the mud …. sling whatever BS you hear or imagine…… No repercussions…. welcome to the NFL front office….. BTW. …… WORLD CHAMPIONS…. OK go back to your usual activities

  24. Sharks of vegas has said right from the outset of the investigation that this was about the NFL officials and the Colts rather than it was about the Pats.

They feel a lot of Pats haters are going to be disappointed when the full facts come out. Which, if it does find no fault with the Pats, will still have them screaming “cover-up” and ‘conspiracy’ anyway.

  25. But that doesn’t mean no one will be getting in trouble.

As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior,…

Based on the information we think we have the people who should be sweating punishment at this time are Mike Kensil, Ryan Grigson and the Colts organization. But since the NFL consistently turns a blind eye to its own incompetence and the Colts organization’s culture of cheating that has been in place for well over a decade, the odds are this will be a whitewash for the cheating Colts and the league.

  26. There are a lot of people going down…but none of them are in NE…hear that Grigson? Hear that Kensil?

  27. Patriots aren’t just cheaters…They are experienced cheaters that have perfected this craft. The slap on the wrist they get will have been worth the risk they took for altering the footballs.

  28. If its taken this long, clearly they got nothing on the pats or the colts.
Fine god 50 grand for making it cold and damp that night and move on

  29. Expect it next Saturday somewhere between the Derby and Fight in Vegas. I thought it would have hit the press Final Four Saturday. The NFL is an embarrassment and I despise the Pats, but the Goodell boys are an absolute joke. They remind of the Federal Gov’t.

  30. tom brady said, “I like a deflated football.” His words people. We know corrupt NFL commissioner will cover this up. Can’t have the public & Vegas know u have a fraudulent champ that’s been cheating for 15 years. It’s bad for business.

  31. It’s probably going to be a slap-on-the-wrist fine at the most. You know Goodell isn’t going to upset his meal ticket Bilbo Kraft and that was substantiated by allowing Belichick to continue coaching in the league after SpyGate when he should have been Pete Rose’d out of the game.

  32. Imagine how hard it is for the league to be investigating their super bowl champions for cheating. the repercussions are brutal. Other pro sports were decimated when confidence in the result dissapaited, for instance boxing. When I was a teenager, in the days of Ali, Frazier and Foreman, boxing was where NASCAR is now in terms of popularity in mainstream culture. Now it isn’t.

I disagree with the author’s inference. I think the reason it is taking forever is the league knows something went wrong and cannot decide how to handle iT. If New England were clear, the league would slam the door shut on this fast; why in God’s name let it fester and have even the President making jokes.

In my opinion, the Patriots are letting all their high priced talent go (Revis, Browner, Wilfok, etc.) because they expect severe penalties and suspensions in 2015. why be paying all that high priced talent in a lost year.

  33. As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior, including for example the identity of person(s) who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong.

    ——————————————

No kidding! The constant leaks from day one, straight out of the NFL offices have made this whole thing a joke.

Kensil at the very least should lose his job, plain and simple.

  34. It doesn’t have to be before the draft because it was Brady who ordered the balls to be altered after they were inspected. They wont lose picks but he will be suspended.

  35. A complete embarrassment for the NFL. They had no idea what the pressures were at gametime. Probably just a ‘feels okay to me’ inspection. More leaks than a sieve, and generally inaccurate and misleading. The sting operation orchestrated by Grigson and Kensil and never reported to Goodell. The NFL employee stealing and selling game balls. And this is probably just the tip of the iceberg. I am not surprised at the length of this investigation. This onion has many layers to peel back.

  36. No matter how it plays out, I will never forgive those involved in purposely leaking (faking) this whole issue during the lead up to the Superbowl.
The Patriots deserve an apology, no team should have to worry about all that BS with the biggest game of the season in front of them.
We (the fans) always laugh at the ‘haters’ out there but this issue went way beyond that.

  37. How funny will it be if after all this, the Pats are cleared and a high ranking NFL official is canned (Mike Kensil perhaps?).

  38. How about the Darrell Revis tampering charge? Can we settle that before the draft?

  39. Colts…and they need to come down …HARD…on them.

    A 1st rounder, and $500,000

  40. Love the Patriots or hate them, this matter should have been resolved well over a month ago.

  41. The NFL leadership has to change. This should have been handled in the week after the game, not 4-5 months later. If there was an actual verifiable problem, they should have punished the Patriots. I say this as a Pats fan. There was no need to even involve an outside lawyer. Instead, the NFL let the Patriots face a storm of criticism based on what has turned out to be false information from anonymous sources on other teams and in the NFL office. Now, they are trying to manage the PR hit they get when they have to release the report showing that they have no evidence anything happened. If they had evidence, we would have heard about it long ago. On top of that, they still haven’t punished the Jets for about as obvious a case of tampering as is humanly possible to come up with. What’s to investigate? Play the tape of Woody Johnson speaking, listen to Revis say he was surprised to hear the Jets were interested, see Revis sign with Jets. This is not hard. I don’t see how anyone can have any respect for Goodell or his minions.

  42. What about the league official fired for running a black market game ball sale ring including in the AFC Championships. Months later and still no reporter has tracked him down. Is he hiding in Grigson’s office?

  43. So it would appear the focus is now on how it was handled and if the Pats were illicitly targeted, not what happened during the game. The Patriot haters are not gonna like that.

  44. As I’ve said all along the NFL will find a way to scapegoat the ball boy and then move on. They won’t dare to actually have a fair investigation about this in case their golden boy and his team actually did something wrong.

  45. “As one league source recently explained it to PFT, the league’s investigation has expanded to explore its own behavior, including for example the identity of person(s) who leaked to the media information that suggested the Patriots did something wrong.”

The Ginger Hammer is gonna lock Mort in a room and blast “Abba’s Greatest Hits” 24/7. After 48 straight hours of “Fernando” and “Dancing Queen” he’ll need a drool cup after he starts bawling, “Kensil…Kensil…it’s Kensil!” “Belichik is in his head, make its stop Roger!”

  46. I’d say the Jets can re-hire Mike Kensil when he’s fired

But it turns out he’s been working for the Jets all along

This explains why a camera placement infraction for signal filming (which remains legal today) resulted in a lost 1st round pick

If there is any justice there will be an apology and draft picks will be returned

  47. It’s quite obvious that this was a sting operation on the part of the Colts (texting “Call me–very important!!!” to Indy writer Kravitz HAD to come from Grigson or Kensil) — that much can easily be proved, even if they both lie about it. There has to be punishment for the attempt at framing the Pats and the cover-up attempted by the Colts.

As for the rest of it–it’s been determined that the one ball in the Colts possession was the ONE actually deflated 2 PSI, while none of the others were affected more than by natural variance.

Logical people – do what you will with that information.

  48. Time to move on, it’s over. Patriots won the Super Bowl, let them enjoy the summer. New season right around the corner. Everyone is undefeated to start the 2015 season. I tip my cap to the Patriots for a fine 2014 season.

  49. Mike Kensil is the most obvious target of the investigation. Ryan Grigson already threw him under the bus. It would have been nice if the NFL had already decided the Patriots fate, but there is more going on here than just footballs being tested as PSI levels.

  50. “Ted, you did great work with that Miami mess – taking over an investigation in November, and managing to stall the results until after the Super Bowl? Incredible. But we here at the league think you can do even better – we want you to oversee the first ever investigation to never reach a conclusion.”

  51. Of Course they will get away with it. The owner is best buddies with the commisioner. If it were anyone else they would be fines, draft picks taken away, etc

  52. While we wait, let’s admit that Belichick is the dominant mind and winner in the league. He has a losing record against only one team, the Giants (2-3), which he is likely to even up this season. Four teams have never beat him.

Over the last 15 years, four teams have won multiple super bowls:

    2015, 2005, 2004, 2002: Patriots
    2009, 2006: Pittsburgh
    2013, 2001: Ravens
    2012, 2008: Giants

The Patriots have won four and lost two on dramatic catches in the final two minutes.

The NFL should come down hard on Irsay, Pagano and Grigson, and their own front office guys, for a conspiracy to tarnish what the Patriots have accomplished and their attempt to ruin the reputations of both Belichick and Brady. The fact is that the Patriots won it all in 2015 while under intense scrutiny of a smear campaign.

  53. The fact that this is taking so long leads me to believe that somebody is getting hammered and it’s not the Patriots. My guess is there’s something big brewing, the league already knows what it is, and what they want to do about it, but isn’t sure how to minimize the PR fallout from whatever has been uncovered.

  54. Mike, don’t forget that we are also waiting for a resolution to the tampering charges against the Jets. If that were to result in the loss of or swapping of draft picks, it would have to take into consideration that the loss of a draft pick this year could be worse than loosing the same pick next year. For example, this years they have the number six pick. Next year it could be number 14….or 20.

  55. Come on already. Poor Tom Brady’s waiting to find out whether or not he’s a cheater. He doesn’t think he is, but he’s not sure until he’s able to find out whether his accomplices successfully kept his secrets from NFL investigators.

  56. Wel, we know the colts were one source of the leaks. The issue Irsay will have is after a year he brought shame to the owners with his drug issues, he accuses another member club of something there is no proof of. If I was a colts fan, I would be more nervous than any pats fan.

  57. This has become a total joke, and as mentioned in the article maybe IT IS the League that should be examining itself and the other clubs involved.

That being said, what’s happened with the tampering charge against the Jets?

  58. I can’t wait to see the punishment Goodell comes up with to punish the actual NFL employees behind this farce. It’s not like he can strip them of draft picks or suspend them from games. Maybe they will be banished to Cleveland and told not to come back until they get the Browns to the Super Bowl.

  59. The time has come to finally punish the Colts for making a mockery of the game. This time they couldn’t hide it.

  60. Is this implying that the NFL will punish itself because word that someone was breaking the rules got out? Do whistleblower protection laws extend to the NFL in regard to rules violation? Or is it only when someone reports laws being broken?

  61. Oh, so the investigation has shifted from the Patriots and their well known and long documented culture of cheating and instead is now focusing on the whistle-blower who ratted them out?

    Figures.
The envelope that changed hands must have been much larger than usual.

  62. I’m still waiting for the #TamperGate outcome. A clear cut case of tampering by the Jets and still nothing from the league?

  63. The biggest loser in all this was the Seahawks. They were the reining SB champs and got so little attention in the run-up to that game. Also, the Patriots were fired up by all the controversy, which I’m sure gave them an emotional edge. The Seahawks should pay close attention to who the Report identifies as the culprit behind the faux scandal and, well, do something.

  66. And what about the Revis tampering ??? That should be long settled by now! Let’s finally clove the book on both give appts their draft picks for tampering and framing and let’s move on!!!!

Do you believe everything you hear in the media without question? If so, that’s pretty scary. This was a story that was sensationalized from the start with very few concrete facts supplied, instead leaks of bad information which were contradicted with each passing day AFTER the damage was already done.
I would imagine you wouldn’t want the benefit of the doubt if you were accused of something that maybe, just maybe you hadn’t done? There will be a big mess for the league and a number of public discussions about the media once the truth comes about about this whole fiasco. You don’t appear to “know” very much.

  68. So let’s get this straight… Kraft & Goodell are buddies. The Patriots cheated again, and won the Super Bowl – the biggest event in sports. Goodell usually rules quick and with no thought or sense involved. Now three months later, nothing has been done and the league has gigantic black eye as a result. All of the major media sources have contracts with the NFL. None of the sources are even talking about the Patriots cheating or Goodell avoiding suspending Kraft or penalizing them. The draft is a week away, and the loss of at least 4 draft picks would be the minimum level they should get tagged for, since it is their 2nd offense and an organization! This proof that money is the factor… if this was any other team, Goodell would rule with an iron fist, but since it is his bestie – he hopes NFL fans will forget it. W don’t forget Roger… I have seen you hug Ray Lewis, and eat dinner with Robert Kraft. You are known by who you associate with, and you are not a good judge of character and are simply the most clueless man on the planet.

  69. If people were found to leak lies to the press then fire them asap. If the report comes out only 1 ball was deflated and someone had leaked to Mort it was 11 then name that source and fire him for cause.

  70. 12coltsfan12 says: Apr 24, 2015 8:36 AM

…something tells me my colts are going to come out of this smelling foul…

    —-
That isn’t necessarily a bad thing from the Colts perspective. Grigson will be shown the door and then you guys can find a good GM.

  71. “Some in league circles think that, whenever it ends, the Patriots will be cleared of any wrongdoing”… All Patriots fans want is for this report to come out. I promise you. It’s been 3 months of bashing them on these message boards for something they may not have even done. If they are found innocent then we as Patriots fans deserve an apology. If they are guilty, I honestly invite all to continue to bash them for shady business. Either way, it’s not going to take away from their amazing Super Bowl 49 victory. And stop with the asterisks, I mean, where are they located? I have yet to see one in any article or record book I’ve read. It doesn’t count if you are just dreaming them up.

  72. Get ready haters, the Patriots were wronged and it is time for Kensil, Grigson, Irsay and John Whaabaugh to pay the piper.

  73. I’m guessing the Pats are innocent.

Why else would they want to know who leaked the info. If they were guilty the league would just nailed the Pats.

  74. It’s funny that pats haters value goddells investigations as long as they go against the patriots, but if/when this turns out to be BS, they’ll just say he’s crooked or kraft paid him off. ….its ok your tears taste delicious

  75. Where there’s smoke there’s fire. The patriots were caught cheating(spygate). Who knows how many balls Brady deflated over the years not just the afc title game. That makes them cheaters. Lets not try and down play the situation.

  76. The longer this takes the more Kraft has time to manipulate the outcome…. Like getting the tapes and proof destroyed from earlier events…

  77. They SHOULD be investigating the leaks leading up to the Super Bowl. They were clearly designed to put NE on the defensive and place a cloud over their pre-Super Bowl week festivities. Not one of the ‘leaks’ proved accurate…. the only thing we know for certain is that an official stole a ball.

  78. Where is Chris Mortensen (ESPN) on all this now? (I don’t watch ESPN anymore). Not a peep from his unnamed sources in three months. My guess is his sources are now under the microscope of this Well’s cronies” and are covering their butts.

    WHAT A JOKE!!

  79. This witch hunt was bizarre from the moment it began.

Even the name is stupid: “deflategate”

The footballs were NOT deflated, which means to remove air. They were DEPRESSURIZED by a little over 1 psi on average, by a 25 degree drop in temperature.

Do the experiment yourself. Thousands have!

Give mother nature a hefty fine. Give the laws of the universe a hefty fine.

    Or… simply EDUCATE yourself.

  80. My guess is that it goes deeper than under inflated balls. Wouldn’t be surprised with bribing officals or bugging the opposing sideline were found to happen.

  81. I’m more curious to know why the very simple & straight forward case of the Jets blatently tampering to get Revis has yet to be resolved by the league?? What exactly is taking so long to bring this to fruition….the draft is less than a week away & this must be handled by the league so punnishment can be delved out!!!

  82. The delay is that the NFL owes the Patriots an apology. Goodell has no experience in that and can’t find anyone on the NFL payroll who does either.

They asked Wells add “finding someone to write an apology to the Patriots” to his list and he’s milking that as well.

  83. Friday before Memorial Day news dump where there are miniscule fines handed out.

If you think Goodell and his investigator are going to come down on Robert Kraft’s team, you’re crazy. Goodell wants to keep his job, and he’ll hand down what Kraft agrees to accept only to save PR face.

  84. NOT 11 out of 12,
    but…
    1 out of 12,

after being handled and even pressure-tested by people on the Colts sidelines for over 20 minutes.

  85. As I said from the beginning, despite being obviously true and continuing their long history of cheating, Kraft and Goodell will have a drink (of course that doesn’t narrow it down for Kraft) and figure out how to manage the fallout.

The press release will say something to the effect of “yes, the balls were under inflated; no we don’t know if it was done on purpose or if so by whom; no there will be no punishment but we will change our procedures for handling balls before games so that teams are no longer in charge of them.”

Then over the next few years Pats’ fumbling will mysteriously return to a more normal rate and Pat fans will hold to their obtuse contention that their team never cheated.

But in the annals of pro football the stain will remain.

  86. @12coltsfan12:

When all of this started I thought for sure the Patriots were guilty, but then after reading, watching, and checking some things out I don’t think they’ve done anything!

And to you as a Colts fan I tip my cap if that’s what you think might happen, but remember the Colts are not the only ones to blame here…Possibly the Ravens and the NFL “Front Office” are going to catch some flak here too.

This investigation has just taken too long, especially when the NFL from the start had NO GUIDELINES for ball inflation, etc. And if the Patriots were guilty it would have been leaked to the media very quickly.

  87. You gotta love (or maybe hate) patriots fans.
Their reaction to this investigation is, “How dare the Colts complain about our team CHEATING (again), and how dare the NFL investigate our team CHEATING (again)”.

  88. The last thing anyone will expect is a full and objective investigation. Spygate forced the NFL to take action but rather than show the full extent of the cheating, the NFL office destroyed the tapes rather than come clean.

In deflate-gate, the NFL again has the Patriots dead to rights for a violation of the rules. You can argue it didn’t impact the Colts game that much but it is missing the bigger point. The point is that the NFL, in cahoots with one of their favorite son, the owner-Kraft, will sweep this under the rug because, interestedly, they don’t have direct video tape evidence of the Patriot’s employee inside the bathroom deflating the balls. The irony of that is a subject for another day.

  89. Do the Patriots push the envelope a bit? Sure, have they cheated? Well, that’s a little grayer if you listen to these comments. Here’s the facts:
    1. They violated a warning letter (not a league rule, still isn’t BTW) for exactly 1 quarter in 2007. The policy wasn’t in effect until that Jets game. And remember, what they did (taping signals) was not and is not currently against the rules. It was where the camera guy was standing.
    2. They were totally exonerated of taping walk-throughs at the 2002 SB. Apologies were issued by the Boston Herald when they actually got the facts.
    3. They may or may not be found guilty of tampering with the footballs, let’s let that play out.
    4. The ineligible receiver stuff was fully within the rules and every fan in America wished his coach was smart enough to think of it.

  90. The Colts were obviously involved with the plot to discredit the Patriots. Really, why would a hack reporter from Indiana be the breaking source? Where would he have ‘well placed sources’?
The only question I would want answered is if Grigson ran the idea past Irsay before getting the ball rolling? One would assume he would have. And then it gets interesting.

    ———-

False. 2-4. Giants own the Cheats.

  92. I’d like to know what logic the trolls use to say that Kraft and Goodell are buddy buddy and that Goodell would never fine his team blah blah blah. Do the trolls forget that Goodell handed out the biggest punishment in league history for taping the sideline in front of 80,000 people? If they were buddy buddy wouldn’t ya think he wouldn’t have blown that so far out of proportion?

I mean its documented that the Jets and Dolphins literally stole playbooks and recorded Toms pre snap audibles the year before and the league thought it was funny and said “hey that’s gamesmanship”

  93. The Giants have been MIA for a few years now. And I don’t mean they’re in Miami. Inconsistent over the years–just like Eli.

  94. Any solution will have to be approved by Bob Kraft’s legal team. That is unless the NFL wants to try the case in civil court with depositions all around.
    .

  95. Oh, this is gonna be good.

Read any of the Sharks of Vegas tweets lately?

    Lol, Colts gonna get haaaaaammered!!!

Hopefully Kensil gets his butt fired faster than an anti-Putin journalist in Russia.

As for anyone already pre-whining about Goodell letting the Pats off. He has nothing to do with it, it’s an independant investigation for a reason. Not that the facts will stop you from rejecting reality to substitute your own, lol.

  97. How many refs were fired for stealing footballs?? The league is a mess right now. I can only hope that when the apology is handed down to Kraft and the Pats, that it gets equal treatment as the lead story on all major nightly news shows as the previous slander that was “reported”.

  98. mdsteved says: Apr 24, 2015 10:11 AM

    —-
Well said. Patriot Haters really can’t handle facts and truth! 🙂

28-24 suckers 🙂 Tell us how angry you are. 🙂

  99. False. 2-4. Giants own the Cheats.

    ————————–

Actually if ANY team’s accomplishments should be re-considered in light of violations, it’s the New York Giants. When they took Manning in 2004, they violated every draft tradition and principle of parity. Manning should have gone to the team who earned him: the San Diego Chargers. The Giants really upset the balance of nature with THAT one.

  100. I love the fools on here who still think anything was done. There is no proof of any wrongdoing. Is league suppose to just penalize for suspicion? There is just as much proof that colts let air out the patriots balls than the Patriots doing it.

If fact based on Rapoports Superbowl report that only 1 of 12 was really low (others just a tick) it stands to reason the colts deflated the intercepted ball and that is lone deflated ball yet people feel there is more proof pats did something?

Patriots were wrong to film signals, but admitted it why wouldn’t they just admit this? It’s a seconds worth of air out of a football it’s meaningless.

The biggest issue to me in all this is how league let the two weeks before SB get out of hand. Leaks galore before Super Bowl. None since? Seems league or someone wanted Patriots distracted.

As I’ve said all along the NFL will find a way to scapegoat the ball boy and then move on. They won’t dare to actually have a fair investigation about this in case their golden boy and his team actually did something wrong.
    ———————————————————

This comment needs to be read and it’s author shamed. “Scapegoat the ball boy?” You mean Jim McNally the elderly Patriots staffer that ESPN and an unnamed league source tried to frame? The same “ball boy” that was cleared a day later when the story of the stolen game balls broke. Both these stories were on this site. How did you miss it? Where is the evidence that “golden boy” Brady did anything wrong? There isn’t any. And if you followed the news like a big boy you’d know that. Pathetic.

  102. No matter the outcome, won’t change the fact that the Patriots are WORLD CHAMPS again and the greatest dynasty of all time with the greatest coach and QB to ever do it.

I would say the 49ers had a claim to the thrown until we found out that their entire legacy is tainted from #StickumGate. Their best player admitted to cheating his entire career to gain, gasp, a competitive advantage. Montana*, Rice*, 49ers*.

  103. “But in the annals of pro football the stain will remain.”

    ———————

Quite the contrary. DEFLATEGATE is already the butt of jokes. Remember when they thought they found a member of the Patriots staff who tried to introduce an unofficial ball into the game? Four about 12 hours photos in which he appeared were dug up and a circle added around his face. Then the media had to retract that when it was learned he was just shuttling a ball on instructions from a league official.

That was the capper. Now everyone laughs at this and it would be hard to convince anyone there is any truth to this.

  104. The guy in the pic is the same guy that thinks Benghazi was much ado about nothing, so keep that in consideration.

  105. I think the problem here is that once everything comes out in the open it is going to show not only that the Patriots did nothing wrong, but that there was a concerted effort on the part of others (can you spell conspiracy) including the NFL itself, other teams, the media and certain individuals to discredit and defame the Patriots. As a result if you also throw in the Jets tampering issue, you have a situation where there would be a lot of egg on the faces of many individuals, draft choices should be taken from some clubs, draft choices should be awarded to the Patriots , people should be fired and many apologies would need to be issued. The league is now caught between all the people out there who in spite of any evidence to the contrary think the Patriots are guilty and must be punished and the facts themselves and it is easy to see why the NFL is afraid of the explosion that is going to result either way when this report and the decision on the Jets tampering is released.
I’m not sure they would dare do this before this year’s draft for fear of what would happen.

  106. Then over the next few years Pats’ fumbling will mysteriously return to a more normal rate and Pat fans will hold to their obtuse contention that their team never cheated.

Yeah the fumbling story has already been disproven. Try and keep up.

Oh and they fumbled 3 times in the game vs the Ravens but didn’t lose any of them.

I don’t know about that but all you need to know is one of the Giants players has actually admitted that Tyree used stickum on his helmet catch. He cheated. That certainly puts that win* in a VERY different light than it did at the time.

So as far as I’m concerned the Patriots really did go undefeated in 2007. I refuse to acknowledge a loss* to cheaters as a defeat.

  108. Let’s gang up and ridicule those who try to blow the whistle on the big, bad Patriots. Sorry – nobody outside of the Union of Boston Socialist Republics is buying that sleight of hand. Who’s your PR guy – Joseph Goebbels?

The Pats were up to more BS, and even though they may get off the hook this time, everyone know they are guilty as hell. Enjoy your tainted Super Bowl wins, but don’t try to make them look cleaner by pulling everyone else into your muck. Apology? Now THAT’S funny!!!

  109. Can the patriots win a real superbowl without any controversy.(spygate, now deflategate) Answer, no. Just change the name to the N.E Fraudtriots, then there tainted sb wins will be legit.

On another matter, it is fine to disagree with Obama politically. I do, but just not that often. However, saying he isn’t sharp intellectually, isn’t well spoken, and does not have the respect of foreign leaders is also foolish.

The only guy sharper than Obama on that podium at the White House was Belichick.

  111. If I am Kraft, I let Goodell know that he will be seeing me in state court in Massachusetts if the NFL does not do right by the Patriots, Belichick and Brady. This investigation has just taken too long, especially when the NFL from the start had NO GUIDELINES for ball inflation, etc. And if the Patriots were guilty it would have been leaked to the media very quickly.

Wow another hater….Read this hater…. World Champion New England Patriots……And Pats 52 Steelers 3 on opening night. LOL

  120. It’s the Patriots. Nothing will happen to them. And they have yet another Superbowl Ring* because of it.

*May not actually represent clean victory.

  121. My favorite part of this entire process are the indignant Patriots fans who demand an apology from the League for the constant 15-year cloud of suspicion that has hovered over their organization since Belichick took over.

Oh it’ll be a fun day when these Super Bowl victories become vacated.

  122. The Patriots won their first three Superbowls well before it became illegal to place a camera on the sideline.

You keep telling yourself that. Why the rest of the world knows what really happened.

  123. Brady knows the evil of O B A and dissed the man of sin.

What a disgrace O B A is to this once great nation.

His name does not belong on that football as everyone knows he is not a Patriot.

Oh but the Tebow game is very relevant. It was the result of the Steelers being old, injured and beaten down. Ever wonder why they were? Hint: HGH withdrawal from a certain team doctor who was no longer on the payroll.

Anyway all the Steelers titles are tainted. Every one of them. Every single one. Terry Bradshaw admitted to his and his team’s use of illegal performance enhancing drugs and he even apologized for it on a national radio show. That’s 4 asterisks. The most recent one was from Dr Rydze’s influence.

And of course Seahawks fans will tell you about the other one. The Steelers remain the only team in NFL history to have won a Super Bowl with the referee apologizing to the opponent for “impacting the result of a game”. Interesting that Walt Coleman never even did that after the tuck rule. HMMMM.

    4 >>>>>>>>>> 6* anyday.

  127. Lol, you Pats fans think this is about the Colts. You really think it would take this long to prove the Colts “framed” the Pats with 1 under inflated ball if this was the case…Sry, but there’s a lot more going on here than that…Especially when there was reports from other organizations tipping the NFL off about what the Pats do. It wasn’t just the Colts reporting this…

So Pats fans, in your minds, Dqwell Jackson intercepted the ball, then took it to the ball boy on the sideline with thousands of fans, players, officials, coaches, and cameras all around him, he then was secretly ordered by Pagano and Grigson to let 2 lbs of air out with no1 seeing, then give the ball to the officials?? Com’on now, no one buys this was a framing other than you Pats fans. It’s not like they will take the SB away, not sure what you’re all so worried about. You’ll get a slap on the wrist and move on

  128. Love the deflatriot fans logic. Call them out on Deflategate, Tuck rule, Spygate and add in Concussionprotocolgate. Their response, Capgate! Tampergate! LOL it’s laughable the attempts to deflect from what your crooked team does on a consistent basis. You know you’re a lame franchise when Don Shula calls your coach a cheater. Ha! In all honesty i hope the deflategate is swept under the rug because at this point your team is really just an embarrassment to the league.

    ****(four) time champions

  129. Anyway all the Steelers titles are tainted. Every one of them. Every single one.

Man, your bringing the humor today.lol. If everyone of the steelers superbowl wins are tainted(as you claim). Which they certainly are not. That still gives them 2 more victories then the fraudtriots tainted wins. 6 is still greater then 4.

Tuck rule(which yes they should of lost to oakland until the refs gave them that game) spygate, deflategate, they needed a one yd gaffe by the seahawks to win this year. Whats next?

  130. @coloradical420:

One doesn’t have to be a Patriots fan to see and know that this deflated football investigation is a joke, but you can dream on all you want…

As a Bronco’s fan you should be truly embarrassed to root for the team that LEADS THE NFL IN CHEATING!

But, you know, don’t let facts get in your way…And one other thing to reference for you…The tuck rule cost the Patriots a win vs the Jets earlier in the 2001 season…And it was called in a couple of more games that season too, so it didn’t “just happen” in the playoffs.

  131. A lot of Pats’ bandwagoners sure do live in fantasy land. While it may never be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the Pats under-inflated 11 of 12 footballs, just a pinch of common sense will tell you that they’re probably guilty. I’d feel differently had the Colts’ balls been under-inflated, but they weren’t. And Tom Brady is on record saying he likes under-inflated footballs. There is no conspiracy against your beloved Pats (lol). Now go ahead and give me my thumbs down. It’s funny how Pats “fans” have tripled since February.

  132. No deflecting is needed.

In 2007 the team got caught violating a league directive on camera placement, admitted it, apologized, accepted punishment, and moved on.

Nothing else. Zip. Squeaky clean before, squeakier and even cleaner afterwards.

Tom Brady has won more playoff games than 27 NFL FRANCHISES have won since the AFL-NFL merger, so haters are just going to hate, facts be damned.

You forgot that the 2008 Super Bowl* is tainted due to Brady being hurt that year. We all know the Steelers would have had zero chance of beating New England in a big game.

2005 is basically tainted due to Rodney Harrison’s knee injury against the Steelers in the regular season. If Rodney was there all season, the Pats easily win Super Bowl XL as well. Steelers basically have zero legit rings. Their Super Bowl loss to Rodgers in the 2010 was legit however.

  134. “As a Bronco’s fan you should be truly embarrassed to root for the team that LEADS THE NFL IN CHEATING!”

No Colts fan, we do not think this is about the Colts, we know this is about Mike Kensil and the Colts management. To be fair, although your beloved Colts players are softer than Downy, they likely are not involved in the failed attempt at framing the Pats.

As for Jackson, with regards to the game in question he has been a stand-up guy. He said he found nothing wrong with the ball he intercepted and just gave it to their equipment guys for safekeeping because he wanted a souvenir of the beating the Colts were receiving. Jackson was not involved in the failed framing – at least not intentionally. It was the Colts equipment guys, along with Grigson, Kensil and likely Irsay that are responsible for their failed attempt to frame the Patriots. Those guys are almost at bad as framing as the Colts are at tackling.

But fear not Colts fans, Goodell and the competition committee will find a way to cover-up again for the cheating Colts organization.

  136. Even if the Patriots are innocent, critics will still dismiss it as them bribing the league, Goodell protecting them, they destroying evidence, ect.

Yes it hurt to watch TB carve up that vaunted Seattle D in the 4th quarter of the SB like a thanksgiving turkey. Yes it hurts to have to acknowledge they are the best team in the world (again). But the hurt and pain of those facts does not change them…it is what it is…

Theres no way the pats beat the steelers in 2008. Big Ben and the steelers won that superbowl with the toughest schedule in NFL History. They were winning the sb regardless who they played. As for the 2005, the pats couldn’t even get by the broncos to match up against the steelers. Thus given the steelers their 5th superbowl ring.

  140. not only the patriots, the NFL as a whole are trying to burry this issue somehow.

  141. Can some of you Einsteins help me out here:

You claim Goodell will cover up for Kraft, yet Goodell:

    1) Handed down the stiffest penalty ever to Belichick, and stripped Kraft’s team of a 1st rounder in 2007.

    2) Initiated this current investigation.

Logical reasoning, give it try some time fellas.

  142. Things that have happened quicker than the Wells report on Deflategate/Ballghazi:

    1) Aaron Hernandez Conviction
    2) Marathon Bombing Conviction
    3) Confirmation of the US AG
    4) ???

    Anyone got any others?

  143. You keep telling yourself that. Why the rest of the world knows what really happened.
    ===
How were teams supposed to respond to a 2006 league memo before 2006?

  144. While it may never be proven beyond a reasonable doubt that the Pats under-inflated 11 of 12 footballs, just a pinch of common sense will tell you that they’re probably guilty. I’d feel differently had the Colts’ balls been under-inflated, but they weren’t.
    ===

    *Sigh*

Let’s review: 10 balls were “a few ticks” under. One was fine. One (the intercepted one) was about 2 PSI under. There was no recorded measurement of PT values for any ball (NE or IND).

A pinch of common sense would tell you that it doesn’t matter what the IND balls were at HT, because you don’t know what they were pregame. A jigger of common sense would tell you that NWE’s balls started at minimum pressure and warm, but got cold and wet and lost pressure. A dollop of common sense would cause you to question why the final low-pressure ball was so much lower than the others.

  145. EDIT to 1448: “There was no recorded [pregame] measurement of PT values for any ball (NE or IND).”

Records were kept at HT, but there were not pregame PT records because no one in this “conspiracy” thought to tell the game officials.

  146. ALL of the balls were tested pre game and at half and after, but yet somehow the Pat’s balls were the only ones deflated. Your hot cold pressure thing does not work. I don’t know 100% that they are guilty, but in the end this SB win will be tainted, like how many others. It’s not that they won the SB,it’s how they got there that matters.

  147. If you let them keep doing it without stiff punishment they will keep doing it. Already caught and lightly punished and now here we are again.

  148. @marianfl24,

People keep saying it like it’s true, but that doesn’t make it true.

There has been no official confirmation that the balls were tested pregame with anything more than a squeeze test, nor has there been ANY confirmation that the Colts’ balls weren’t similarly under-pressurized.

And our “hot cold pressure thing” isn’t OUR thing at all. It’s science. Science doesn’t care how much you hate the Patriots. It just IS.

The whole “deflate” part of this is a misnomer from the beginning. It’s not that some balls were “deflated”, it’s that APPARENTLY the balls had a lower pressure than the guidelines the NFL has established. Yet is a scientific fact that moving from warm to cold temperatures lowers air pressure, no “deflating” necessary.

    Try again.

  149. ALL of the balls were tested pre game and at half and after, but yet somehow the Pat’s balls were the only ones deflated. Your hot cold pressure thing does not work.
    ===
Oh they were, were they? What was the temperature and pressure of all the footballs pregame? What’s that? You don’t know? It wasn’t written down (pressure) or measured (temperature)? If you don’t know the starting conditions, you can’t even being to suggest what the final conditions should have been. If you can’t do that, then you can’t assess if there has been any deviance from what is expected.

This isn’t a theory. It’s basic physical and scientific law.

    ====
Bingo, but do you really expect mouthbreathers to recognize the difference between “under-pressurized” and “deflated”. Doing the latter can cause the former but there are other reasons (like T transition) that can cause depressurization as well. The funny part is that the only “deflated” ball is probably the intercepted one, and I’d be willing to put money on that one being “deflated” accidentally. That one deviated from the rest of the cluster (the other 10 NE balls) because the Colts kept sticking a gauge in it and letting the air out a little at a time.

  151. “It’s quite obvious that this was a sting operation on the part of the Colts (texting “Call me–very important!!!” to Indy writer Kravitz HAD to come from Grigson or Kensil)”

Could have come from Irsay. He and Kravitz have a long history. Kravitz stood up for Irsay and told everybody to stop picking on Jim and instead feel sorry for the poor misunderstood billionaire. Makes sense that Irsay would want to pay Kravitz back by sending him the “Call me” text.

  152. Colts time of possession of only football to be low by 2 PSI: 22:00

Colts time of possession of in-game football: 22:11

That pretty much sums it up

  153. I gave it some thought and expect that the NFL, in its agreements with owners and in the contracts with coaches and players, likely has a clause dictating the state that any litigation action against the NFL must be filed. A defamation suit on this matter should be filed state court in Massachusetts but the NFL lawyers probably have their own venue (likely New York or Deleware) where they would be showed favoritism.

Florio, you must know. Where would a defamation suit by Kraft, Belichick and Brady get filed?

  154. Well$ is cashing in on the incompetence of Goodjelly, and has been told to cover up the Colts Frame-Gate evidence.

Goodjelly & NFL want the NE PATRIOT dominance to end asap. If Well$ had given us the factual evidence, you would see the PATRIOTS getting a 1st Round Pick from the Colts & more.

What a disgrace to see Bark O b@s-turd name on a Patriots football.
He is the man of lawlessness that despises our Constitution & Freedom and he dreads the thought of the American People to wake up and take back control = Thus the symbolism of the NE PATRIOTS = Where the Revolution started.

  155. As Patriots fan, I am looking for the Wells report and I am hoping we are fully exonerated. However I have to be somewhat realistic just because of our past. I hate to admit it but in the minds of many people once a cheater always a cheater which is totally unfair in this case but who said life was fair? People change and I am inclined to believe Belichick has learned from his past mistakes. Saying all of that there are just few facts that are hard for me as an honest to get past such as low fumble rates of our RBs, the fact that Brady is on record admitting to liking under inflated balls. Like I said I am hoping nothing comes of this investigation but I am also a realist about this team.

  156. @marianfl24:
Who tested those balls? And you say the balls were tested and reinflated at halftime…Very bad deduction on your part…NO ONE and according to the NFL Rule Book, NO ONE can adjust the balls at anytime before or during the game except the REFEREE…Nice try though.

  157. Let’s clear up a couple things…
Brady said he likes his footballs at the minimum pressure…under inflated from the max of 13.5 psi to 12.5 psi…
Also, BB works his RB’s by freezing the football, watering it down etc. allthe time sending them thru a group of linemen trying to strip the ball while it’s in that condition… If the runner fumbles he gets reamed & has to run laps in practice… If it’s in a game & he fumbles he gets reamed & benched….the Pats RB’s did have fumbles but they mostly got recovered by someone on the pats team… BB DEMANDS perfection from all his players & if they don’t perform to his standards they sit & it’s next man up….BB preaches “do your job” & for a RB that’s running w/out fumbling… Turnovers kill a team & can easily change the outcome….that’s why Ridley got benched so often!! B&b holds his players accountable for all their responsibilities that’s why they are so good at what they do because of his coaching & unwillingness to allow players to be divas or be problematic to the detriment of the TEAM!!!!

  158. It would be something if on draft day on pick 32 they let the pats come to the podium only to then say umm no you can turn around and go sit back down.

  159. I also find it very interesting that De’Quell Jackson, the defender that intercepted the ball was quoted as saying he had noticed nothing different about the ball when he caught it & brought it to his people to save as a silvouneer & then later got turned in 2 psi under the minimum after being in the Colts possession for approx 20 minutes….. Very odd indeed!!!

  160. I think it would be much more realistic if they told the Colts on draft day that their pick in rounds 1 & 2 belong to the Patriots for attempting to frame them

  161. I’m cracking up here. All of these Patriots fans defending their team’s surreptitious ways exemplifies how the human mind can create its own reality in spite of the objective world before them. Patriots fans, keep using semantics and skewed logic to try and convince yourselves of your team’s honesty so you can be at peace with their legacy… the rest of us know everything has been tainted so you won’t persuade us. You are doing a great job demonstrating a mass psychological experiment though so I thank you.

  162. Unionjack11776….
You sound like the pot calling the kettle black…
You’re brainwashed by both the media & your jealousy of the Patriots to let reality & logic to allow reason & truth to take hold
Patriots are 4 time Super Bowl world champions & are still dominating the league…..no astrics or tainted legacy just 4 beautiful Lombardi’s

  163. Everyone with half a brain knows this scandal was bogus. It was nothing but a dirty attempt by the Colts organization to villain-fy the Pats and drag their name through the mud. After all, everyone knows that if you can’t beat them on the field, the next best thing is whining about them “cheating”. Colts tried to distract the Pats from the Super Bowl and it didn’t work. I hope the Colts pay the price in a big way.

  164. Poor poor Patriots haters. So adorable how you live in your own little world of denial! 🙂

tom brady said, “I like a deflated football.” His words people. We know corrupt NFL commissioner will cover this up. Can’t have the public & Vegas know u have a fraudulent champ that’s been cheating for 15 years. It’s bad for business.

    ———————————–

You know, Voice, if we removed just the bile-soaked posts that you’ve made about the Patriots in all these blog threads, I think we would find you and your pseudonyms account for 95% of the venomous remarks made about the team. Your hatred is causing you to not see the situation clearly. Every sentence you wrote above is a lie or is taken out of context to make it look like “evidence.” You should examine your motives.

  166. Goodell’s days are numbered.

He’s always talking about the integrity of the game

Actions that completely undermine the integrity of the game conducted by a biased Mike Kensil working directly for Goodell, and happening right underneath his nose

If Goodell knew about this he should be fired

If Goodell didn’t know about this, he should be fired

If you let them keep doing it without stiff punishment they will keep doing it. Already caught and lightly punished and now here we are again.
    ————————————————-
Caught filming mere feet from a perfectly legal position to film. Yeah that’s cheating at it’s worse. Losing a first round draft choice and getting fined the maximum allowed is not light punishment. Dolphin fans should be familiar with losing draft picks due to rule violations. Shula was found guilty of negotiating a new deal while under contract with the Colts. Of course by your logic that means those two super bowl wins should be taken away, asterisked and the team proclaimed cheaters for eternity.

The Wells report may also call into question NFL bias against the Patriots.

Spygate was the loss of a first round pick because the Patriots cameras (and all teams do video) were in placement violation by a few yards in the first quarter of the first game of 2007

Guess who had joined the NFL front office in 2006?

Yup – Mike Kensil – the former Jets president who swore revenge on Belichick for leaving the team.

If he had anything to do with Spygate – and one assumes he did – then that “penalty” and investigation must be reviewed as well.

I wonder if Goodell has destroyed the footballs yet…
    ——————————————————

Did they ever get them back after the ref stole them?

  170. I’ll be miffed if they even get a slap on the wrist because they didn’t do anything, but Goodell will need to find a way to give them something equivalent to a misdemeanor –$100,000 fine–to quiet all the yahoos down.

The Colts need to get spanked somehow though, other than the normal thrashing they get on the field at the Patriots hands. They are the instigators in this whole mess and should be sued for defamation.
