Report: Zac Stacy responds to Todd Gurley pick with trade request

The Rams surprised some people by drafting running back Todd Gurley with the 10th overall pick on Thursday night and there were a wide variety of responses to the move.

There were those who liked the upside, those who worried that Gurley’s knee might limit his effectiveness as a rookie and those that thought the Rams should have picked a wide receiver. And then there was Rams running back Zac Stacy, who took to Twitter with a heavy dose of self-awareness of what Gurley’s arrival means for him.

“Yikes,” Stacy wrote in a tweet that has since been deleted.

That reportedly wasn’t Stacy’s only response. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Stacy has requested a trade now that he’s part of a depth chart that also includes Tre Mason and Benny Cunningham. Schefter adds that the team is open to moving him, which could happen for a third day pick if a team thinks Stacy offers more than a member of this year’s draft class.

  1. I’m sure there will be a lot of takers for a RB with an attitude like Stacy has.

  2. Way to be a competitor and fight for your position Zach, if he’s threatened by a rook, he’s not worth keeping anyway.

  3. I think I speak for most NFL fans when I say “Who is Zac Stacy?”

  4. The best way to endear yourself to NFL teams is to throw your position up in the air and ask to run away to another team when your team drafts a rookie at your position. That’s what I always say.

  5. This guy is a joke and Gurley may not be ready until 2016. What happened to competition and showing some fight? Normally this is a guy who would be a depth candidate for my flag team (Sweep The Leg) but I will pass.

  6. Bad pick by the Rams. Injury concerns on a position where you have a ton of depth. I’m not a Rams fan but I couldn’t tell you who their receivers are..

  7. Todd Gurley should rent wherever Zac Stacy is living, then buy a home in Los Angeles after the Rams move.

You have 2 choices. 1. Beat him out. 2. ask for a trade.
Even if Stacy was trying to beat out a guy named, say, smackingfools—he’s not going to beat that guy out if he’s their First Round pick.

  9. What a baby. What did STacy have last year like 700 yards? You’re not exactly Marshall Faulk. Get over yourself and enjoy your role as a contributor since that’s all you ever were.

  10. He could be a good compliment to Justin Forsett. Ravens have 9 picks left, I think they’re gonna move up for Maxx Williams or hold tight for funchess though. You can get a good rb anywhere these days so it’s not wise to spend a ton of resources at that position, especially a top 10 pick. Fisher has a track record of being a Clown so none of this surprises me

  11. As Rams fan I can’t understand why a 5th rd pick can rush for almost 1,000 yards in 12 starts then watch the team draft Mason who proceeds to average over 4 YPC and have a great year to then see the team draft ANOTHER RB coming off of an ACL tear. The O-line is garbage and yet this is what they do. And my wife wonders why I drink so much.

  12. Gotta love all these fat couch dwelling armchair ballers, who have never achieved anything of note in their lives, telling this guy that he’s a loser and that he should just man up and beat him out.

You’re not beating out a top 10 pick, geniuses. Not unless you’re the second coming of Walter Payton.
Stacy is a solid running back, I’d like him on my team for a third day pick.
