Steelers add 12 undrafted free agents

The Steelers have reached contract agreements with 12 undrafted rookie free agents, the club said Saturday evening.

Among the 12 free agent additions is former Boston College quarterback Tyler Murphy, who is listed as a wide receiver and ostensibly will be changing positions. Murphy (6-2, 213) passed for 1,623 yards for the Eagles in 2014, but he added 1,184 yards rushing, and his mobility will be his ticket if he’s able to successfully transition to receiver with Pittsburgh. Murphy began his collegiate career with Florida before joining Boston College for one year.

The Steelers also announced agreements with Texas A&M tight end Cameron Clear, Saint Augustine’s defensive tackle Nigel Crawford-Kinney, Liberty defensive end Dominique Davis, Penn State offensive guard Miles Dieffenbach, Auburn offensive guard Reese Dismukes, Kansas State center B.J. Finney, Illinois State defensive end Brandon Pate, Indiana offensive guard Colin Rahrig, Louisville wide receiver Eli Rogers, Lafayette running back Ross Scheuerman and Utah State offensive tackle Kevin Whimpey.

With eight draft picks also joining the Steelers, the Steelers could be adding 20 rookies to a roster that was at 72 veterans entering the draft, so a couple roster moves could be coming.

  1. A dozen desperation moves to make up for three days of bumbling. Won’t work.

  2. There is nothing sadder than seeing the same trolls post hateful mindless garbage on every Steeler article. Your parents failed you.

  3. Colbert went from getting Tebowed to getting Maxxed.

  4. These guys are so thankful they don’t have to live in Baltimore under fear and a curfew.

  5. +2 over the 90 man roster. Wait never mind one of those is Golson so you’re only 1 1/2 over the limit.

  6. A couple of good names on that list. I think the Steelers had a solid value Draft. The only problem for you guys is I just discovered “ReligionIsForIdiots” is one of you guys. What a shame… Steeler Fans even when Trolling are generally football smart. This guy hurts that observation. I put him up with LogicalVoice and the Skol guy.

  7. Im sorry religion but Bud Dupree is a long way and I mean long way from being in the hall of fame. He was good but not great during his time at UK so why do you feel he would be one of the greatest defensive players of all time. If Im not mistaken that is what all of the fans said about Jarvis Jones when he was drafted and he is not even close to being good. He is average at best and he is not getting any better. So you need to slow down when you make a comment that Dupree will make the hall of fame because he was only drafted where he was because of his combine numbers and those numbers mean nothing.

How’s Dennard doing? Or Eifert for that matter? Last time I looked they both stunk. HAHA! And the Steelers swept your team that hasn’t won a playoff game since the 1980s. Don’t throw stones Mr. Glass house!

  9. Good to see they picked up Kevin Whimpey. Now they have a player who’s name matches the team’s style of play.

Oh Richabbs you have the distinction of being the first of many to make the obvious joke…how clever of you…..Yawn.

  10. How pathetic is it that Steelers haters to jump into the “Steelers sign college free agents” post to talk trash?

Its a longshot that anyone here will make the team- these guys are an afterthought. LMAO. truly sad.

It just shows that the Steelers live rent-free in the heads of these haters- which makes sense since there is clearly a lot of room in their skulls.
