Bears waive Paul Cornick after failed physical

It looked like tackle Paul Cornick landed in a good spot when the Bears claimed him off of waivers from the Broncos on Tuesday.

Cornick started six games up front for the Broncos in 2014 and the move to Chicago reunited him with former Broncos coach John Fox and offensive coordinator Adam Gase. Cornick may not have been a frontrunner for a starting job, but his knowledge of their offensive preferences wouldn’t have hurt his chances of making the roster.

Something the Bears found in Cornick’s physical is going to keep that from happening, however. The Bears put Cornick back on waivers on Thursday with a failed physical designation. There’s no word on what kept Cornick from getting the green light.

Cornick played 12 games overall for the Broncos last season in his first regular season action since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2012.
