Giants release three veterans, add four players

Ben Edwards

The Giants have done some roster reshuffling after their rookie minicamp.

New York announced the signing of four players on its website Monday: Richmond wide receiver Ben Edwards, Temple tailback Kenneth Harper, Southern Connecticut State defensive tackle Carlif Taylor, Stony Brook tight end Will Tye. The pacts with Harper, Taylor and Tye — all undrafted rookies — had previously been reported.

Edwards (5-10, 197) last played college football in 2013, catching 74 yards for 706 yards and five TDs as a senior. He is one of 12 wide receivers on the Giants’ roster.

While the Giants have added these four players, they have parted ways with linebacker James Davidson, safety Thomas Gordon and tailback Chris Ogbonnaya. The 28-year-old Ogbonnaya appeared in seven regular season games in 2014 — five with the Panthers, two with the Giants.
