Report: Kevin Williams visited Saints

It’s May 12, which means teams can sign unrestricted free agents without hurting their chances at picking up compensatory draft picks in 2016.

That may create a market for some veterans that have been on the market for the last two months without finding a new home, including defensive tackle Kevin Williams. Williams played for the Seahawks last season and Kristian Garic of WWL in New Orleans reports that he visited with the Saints in his search for a job for the coming season.

Williams played in every game for the Seahawks last season, starting eight times and picking up 30 tackles and three sacks for the NFC Champions. That durability is nothing new to a player who has missed just five games during his 12-year career and two of those came via his much-delayed Starcaps suspension in 2011.

Williams has spent his career as a defensive tackle on four-man fronts with Seattle and Minnesota, which isn’t what Rob Ryan runs in New Orleans but there should still be a fit for Williams as a run-stuffer up front on a defense that underwhelmed last season.
