Reports: Brian Robison sustains pectoral injury, but it’s not regarded as serious

AP

A Vikings defensive starter has reportedly suffered a pectoral injury during training.

Defensive end Brian Robison sustained the injury on Thursday, according to Peter Schrager and Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports. According to Fox Sports, the 32-year-old Robison will be examined further, though he has indicated he believes he will be OK.

A ninth-year pro, Robison has missed just two games in his NFL career. A starter for the last four seasons for the Vikings, he recorded 24 tackles and 4.5 sacks in 16 games (all starts) in 2014.

Second-year pro Scott Crichton and rookies Danielle Hunter and B.J. Dubose are among the Vikings’ reserve options at defensive end.

UPDATE 5:12 p.m. ET: Matt Vensel of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports that Robison’s injury is not thought to be major. Also, according to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Robison indicated he was “OK” in a text message.

  1. Vikings may need to rethink their training regimine becuase this could be 3rd guy in 2 seasons to be lost with torn Pectoral Muscles!

  2. Luckily, we have the best Depth of any Defensive Line in the NFL.

Sharrif Floyd, Linval Joseph, Everson Griffen, Scott Crighton, Anthony Barr could move down to DE, if needed.

No one has a better Front 4 than us.

    (Case Closed)

  3. His 2014 stats average out to 1.5 tackles per game, which is about par for a Vikings defender.

I hope the young man gets healthy soon.

  4. The Minnesota Vikings have the most division titles in the NFL Super Bowl era with 18,

We have the third best winning percentage out of every NFL franchise.

We also have the most talented team in the NFL, after we had the best draft in the NFL.

What does your lowly team have?

  5. Great guy hope he is up and going soon. Helped a good friend of mine when his family suffered the tragic loss of a wife and daughter right before Thanksgiving last year. Get well soon!

  6. ha. like that would even matter if he sustained the injury just before kickoff

  7. Time to step up rookie! Danielle Hunter is a big, fast genetic freak like Griffen. Would love to see him learn the ropes from Zimmer and compete at DE.

  8. We need more depth at DE. These other guys are unproven. Get on the horn Spielman

  9. The en vogue injury these days is torn pectoral muscle, so I hope that isn’t it. Danielle Hunter is not going to step in and start at LDE. He’s too much of a project. People have quickly forgotten about Scott Crichton, last year’s third-round pick. He did nothing last year but he should be ready to step up as a rotation DE. If Robison is out for a while, they will probably sign a veteran to help out as well.

    Cribbage12. – Greenway’s stats in 2014 were 93 Tackles in 12 games (7.75 avg)
    ______

I think the story is about Brian Robison.

  12. The Vikings are annoying, their fan base, their ugly girly uniforms, their goofy GM and owner. I can’t understand why a team that has lost and choked out their seasons time and time again could possibly remain in the NFL. They should be removed from the NFL and play in a league that is more their caliber like the CFL. I mean they’re close enough to Canada anyways.

The Vikings have made the playoffs 27 times and have 0 (ZERO) Championships. (that pathetic one in ’69 DOES NOT COUNT, Chiefs won the Superbowl that year that voids an actual Championship, nice try though)

The Packers have made it 30 times and have 13 Championships

The Bears have made it 25 times and have 9 Chamionships

The Lions have made the playoffs 16 times and have 4 Championships.

Obviously the Vikings are not cut out to play in the NFL.

Join the revolution today and lets remove this pathetic garbage team from the NFL!!!

Most probably have at least one Super Bowl victory, and have had some success in the recent past.

The Vikings have 3 division titles in the last 15 years. A playoff record of 3-5 since 2000.

And, of course, no Super Bowls in that time period to go along with the other zero Super Bowl victories.

But you have the most division titles in the NFL Super Bowl era. Which is what most people remember, not playoff success or Super Bowls.

And they have the most insecure, least knowledgeable, and most yappy fans in football. So there’s something to be proud of.

Lions record vs. Vikings since 2000 — 8 Wins, 22 Losses.

Go find some other team to troll. 0-16 will live forever.

  15. The guy is 32, so you might expect his body to break down during the season but he decided to fast track the injury bug so he doens’t have to play in those meaningless games that the Vikings have on their schedule, basically from Halloween on to the end of the season.

  16. Brian will be OK, it is likely a strain is all.
Trolls are the greatest honor a team can have, It simply means they are afraid.
Talk about UGLY Uniforms! The Mold Green, and Mustard Yellow are sure a thing….of what I don’t know.
Minnesota has the most loyal fan base in the League and best uniforms.
No amount of childish insults can change that.
It sure is funny how bold these trolls get sitting in safety behind their keyboards.. They sure don’t act like that when they go to the games!
So just ignore them, Minnesota is back.
We have the talent and the Coaching staff.
This year Bridgewater and Company whip the Cheese into Velveeta!

  17. Brian Robison has been on the receiving end of more pancake blocks than any player in league history. He will be missed.

    But only by opposing linemen.

You, sir, have some mental issues you might want to take care of.

  19. Another soft Vikings player.
By the way, did anybody else see a replay of the 2008 NFC Championship game between the Saints and the Vikings, shown on the NFL Network?
    Aaah, good times!

Oh, just the ability to kick your team rear…time after time, after time, after time.

But thanks for building a new Lambeau West.

  21. Hey Frank, unlike Bears fans, Vikings fans have never been the butt of a joke on a Nationally broadcast TV show (Tosh.0) for an entire segment. Search ‘Tosh.0 bears fans race’ to see what I am talking about.

  24. Robison has a pectoral muscle strain. Minor injury. Few weeks at the most. Anyhow its a long ways to training camp.

That’s because the Vikings don’t really have a national presence and no one would really care.
Saturday Night Live started making fun of Bears fans years ago, so it’s nothing new. Heck, I even make fun of Bears fans, especially the Ditka era ones.

How very refreshing to see a Bear’s fan admit that other Bear’s fans are mostly fat, drunk, and slow. Good for you Frank.

  27. Hilarious to see a Lions fan talk about championships and winning divisions when their team hasn’t done s$it since the modern era of football. One of only a few teams who haven’t even played in a Super Bowl. Too funny.

  28. Q: who humiliated a fanbase and reminded them it’s only football and there are more important things in life by joining their arch-rivals in august of 2009?

A: Who is Brett Favre, former Quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings.

    skol.

  29. What do you call the packers without aaron rodgers?

The minnesota vikings with christian ponder…..

The only thing holding the vikes back was a weak secondary and a qb. We addressed both of those recently so wait and see when they put it all together.

Wait and see. Wait and cheese.

    Soft!!!

    ))))))))))))))))))))

Soft is Clay standing on the sideline during the 4th quarter because he is gassed. And his teammates can’t stop Seattle, so they lose in an epic choke job. Or soft is HaHa’s coverage on the 2 pt conversion.
