An Southeastern Conference starting quarterback is one of four rookie passers trying out for Kansas City at the club’s weekend minicamp.

Bo Wallace, the starter at Ole Miss the last three seasons, is taking part in the Chiefs’ rookie minicamp, according to a roster of participants released by the club.

Wallace (6-3, 211) completed 229-of-381 passes for 3,194 yards with 22 TDs and 14 interceptions last season for the Rebels.

The other quarterbacks trying out for Kansas City are Colorado State-Pueblo’s Chris Bonner (6-6, 231), Louisiana Tech’s Cody Sokol (6-1, 210) and Richmond’s Michael Strauss (6-2, 211).

The Chiefs have four quarterbacks on the roster, with Chase Daniel, Aaron Murray and Tyler Bray backing up Alex Smith.

  1. If you need a backup quarterback that will push the starter to be his best….
Take a small risk and kick the tires on Vince Young.. See if he would be willing to help… He wouldn’t cost a lot…. His career won/loss record is 31-19… He’s a 2 time Pro-Bowler with playoff experience and was voted 2006 NFL Rookie of the Year….. The NFL is all about “WINS and LOSSES”…. and this guy WINS…. There is a big difference between Perception and Reality.
Bring in Vince Young and judge his talents for yourself….

  2. He doesn’t have a prayer, his accuracy is just awful. When I say AWFUL, he is worse than Tim Tebow. Guy slung the ball around aimlessly at Ole Miss, there’s no way he makes an NFL roster.

    Hi Vince. How’s force retirement?

  4. Hard to imagine any qb starting for the Chiefs other than Smith. He is just like their fans, that is, Smith is so bad he makes for a comfortable fit with Chief Nation cause even though he sucks, they know he is trying. Hell, Fat Andy cant help you. He couldnt recognize a good qb if he had to, yes?

Anyway, good luck, shine on, all that stuff. Maybe you boys get 2 tds to a wide receiver this season. Maybe!

  5. Funny, Vince Young. Haha. That can’t be Vince Young “evansvc”. Vince couldn’t put a sentence together to save his life. Maybe it’s his agent… Lol.

I can’t see another QB taking over the 4 that are on the Chiefs roster right now. The only thing that might happen, is Chase gets traded, restructures or gets released because of his high cap number. Either that or they release Bray. Don’t need 4 QB’s on the roster.

  6. I’ve been an Ole Miss fan for nearly 40 years. I don’t think Bo Wallace has much of a chance for an NFL career. While he shows many flashes of brilliance, and is pretty athletic and tough, his arm strength is mediocre by NFL standards. But the REAL kiss of death for him is his decision making. For every string of great plays he makes, he will have one of those monumental bone-headed moments that makes you think he’s in his first Pop Warner game.

  7. They’ll bring him in if they want to throw the ball further than 5 yards.

  8. Don’t count him out. Played with average talent around him. Had to force plays. If he can play Andy will see it. Have a feeling he is going to make it.
