Rob Ninkovich: Brady wouldn’t jeopardize the integrity of the game

AP

Count Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich as a teammate who backs Tom Brady.

Ninkovich said on 98.5 The Sports Hub that he has no doubts about Brady’s integrity.

I don’t question it,” Ninkovich said, via the Boston Herald.

Ninkovich suggested that jealousy of Brady’s success may be motivating Brady’s critics.

“Tom is a tremendous person and there is nothing more important to him than the game itself,” Ninkovich said. “I don’t think Tom would ever do anything to jeopardize the integrity of the game. I stand by my quarterback and everyone else should, too. When you’re really good for a really long time, people want to come after you. We all support Tom, the whole Patriots organization supports Tom, and the Patriots fan base supports Tom. You can’t control what everybody else says or does, you can kind of just control what you can do. For me, everybody else is focused on this season and do the best you can.”

Throughout Brady’s tenure as their quarterback, the Patriots have always been able to maintain their focus. Brady’s four-game suspension may make that harder than ever at the start of this year.

  1. Brady doesn’t consider deflating a football as taking away from the integrity of the game.

Brady considers it a personal preference.

If it violates a rule, that doesn’t really apply to him. and in his head, it isn’t cheating.

At the most it is driving 75 in a 65 to Brady. Give him his ticket and move along.

  2. Would videotaping a decade ago go to integrity of the game. VACATE ALL 4. Too bad God-ell destroyed the tapes or we could have a thorough review of the Patriots under Kraft/ Belicheat/ Brady. P.S. Google picture of Pinochio Tom Brady. Funny!

  3. Yet another Brady jock sniffer. Seems to be quite a few former teammates and Boston locals that can’t see through their blind love.

  4. “I don’t think Tom would ever do anything to jeopardize the integrity of the game…”

…except when he breaks the rules and throws low-level employees under the bus, lies about not knowing anything about it and never owns up to it.

Besides that, he would never jeopardize the integrity of the game. 😉

  5. We DO enjoy the legacy, thank you very much. This is one incredible ride. And this is the most entertaining and intellectually stimulating franchise in the history of pro sports.

  6. brady haters with no actual evidence claiming to have a ton of factual evidence that doesn’t exist only to further the fabricated notion that brady is a cheater in order to stain his legacy as a result of him having beaten their teams so many times coming in……

  7. Throughout Brady’s tenure as their quarterback, the Patriots have always been able to maintain their focus. Brady’s four-game suspension may make that harder than ever at the start of this year.
    ==================================
Bill Belichick will have a lot to say about how the Patriots maintain their focus.

  8. If tom brady is innocent why hasn’t he said so? Uh, bcuz he’s guilty. You’re putting your teammates in a bad spot here tommy having to answer these questions. Be a man, take off your girly ugg boots and admit it. Also, let’s hear from Needles McNally.

  9. I wish they would have asked if his coach would violate the integrity of the game, let’s see if he can be honest.

  10. Toe gauges, both un-calibrated, yielding divergent readings, neither gauge is recorded to the the one that set the football PSI in the first place, the NFL did not take possession of the balls after the game, the Pats had to send them in, plus 3 of 4 Colts balls were under-inflated. AND the Colts footballs were checked after the Pats footballs and refilled, giving the Colts balls time to equilbrate indoors to the warmer temperature. How can anyone think this is enough to suspend Brady. And his phone not being turned over? Farve only got a $50,000 fine, so how is it fair to Brady to give him 4 games?

  11. What a surprise, a Brady teammate says he hasn’t done anything wrong. I’m shocked.

The taping was not illegal ten years ago. No asterisks there.

And here in lies the problem. It isn’t up to Shady Brady as to what rules he decides to follow, or apply to him……Asterisk fans are delusional.

  14. There IS evidence. And, if he didn’t do anything wrong, why did he refuse to make his texts available to the investigators?

Seattle? Dude your whole team was busted for steroids. Glass houses. Take a lap, kiddo.

  16. He couldn’t say that with a straight face…. on a team in trouble for Spygate… that had got the rules changed regarding player injuries inside two minutes because of “flopping” people associated the Pats need to say less this week. They have very little credibility, at the moment.

  17. Looks like Ninkovich needs to be drug tested immediately. He’s delusional.

  18. I don’t question it, either. The needles they were talking about in the texts were used to take air out of the Deflator’s stomach to help him with his weight loss. The stress he was under, that Brady referenced, was……… well it was something to do with weight loss.

  19. The problem with cheaters is that they’ll justify cheating in their head as not being “a big deal”. The reality is that he’s been cheating his entire career from Spygate to Deflategate (and even on his pregnant ex girlfriend). So it’s disingenuous to now say “oh, Brady would never cheat.” His entire career is a fraud. No one is jealous of a fraud, they’re angry that someone cheated other respectable players who actually played by the rules and achieved big things fairly. It’s disgraceful.

    ———————

You seriously need to do your homework. First understand that what Belichick filmed is NOT illegal and still isn’t. Where he had the camera is the ONLY rule he broke. You were also able to view the tapes. They were made available online by Jay Glazer for a time, and Goodell was playing them on a loop at his press conference at the time. So, it wasn’t that big of a secret. It has been speculated that Belichick was gonna drop and A-Bomb about this practice which is why Goodell destroyed all of the tapes. I’m betting the tapes showed cameras on the other sidelines too since a lot of teams employed this practice, but again, we will never know since they were destroyed, which further complicates your question about why they were actually destroyed. If the haters are gonna say that Brady is guilty because he wouldn’t turn over his phone so he must be hiding something, then it stands to reason that Goodell destroyed the tapes because he was hiding something. Remember, Belichick did not dispute that he employed these video practices. So what would he have to hide? He admitted doing it.

  22. Kraft should be forced to sell the team, and if he keeps up with his ridiculous PR campaign full of unbelievable excuses, it will happen soon enough.
The other owners are getting very tired of all the cheating scandals this team continues to be involved in.
The other owners do not like unwanted, prying attention to their business affairs, and Kraft continues to damage the credibility, integrity, and brand of each and every owner.
Proof has been established. Guilty. Most men would own up, apologize and make amends to his partners.
Bobby Kraft continues to deny with moronic excuses, claims he is being victimized and attacks the entity to which he belongs and partners with.
That is what COWARDS do when confronted.
The Patriots have zero credibility, zero integrity, and will never get the benefit of the doubt.
    TAINTED TROPHIES.
    UNEARNED TITLES.
    STOLEN WINS.

  23. Yup. It’s all just a jealousy thing. Was it deflated footballs, broken headsets, or spying cameras that beat that vaunted Seattle D in the Super a Bowl? Nope. Greatest 4th QTR Super Bowl comeback in SB history to boot. The haters have NO comeback for that. Deal with it.

  24. Ummm, has Brady’s super killer hot legal team told him that if they sue the NFL in federal court for defamation, all of Brady’s cell phones, computers, etc. get turned over as part of discovery? Ya never no when one of those will trip you up. Ask Tiger.

  25. Why would Tom Brady refuse to turn over any form of electronic data? Why has Tom Brady not made a statement, challenged the findings, or tried to defend himself amidst the ‘deflategate’ drama?” The more time that passes prior to him addressing the issues, the worse he looks. I am left me with two points that will be hard to argue against:

    1) Regardless of the final outcome, the vast majority of the public will be always be left wondering or second-guessing Tom Brady’s role and character involved in ‘deflategate’ …
    2) Tom Brady was in a ‘no win’ situation in terms of providing electronic data.

Just take a look at Peter King’s recent article in Sports Illustrated, “Ten Questions for Tom” with the top two questions being:
    1. Why have you not taken any of the chances to more strongly proclaim your innocence, if you’re innocent? There was the post-AFC title game press conference, the Bob Costas NBC interview, the Jim Gray interview at Salem State. For someone on whom Patriots owner Robert Kraft has staked his personal and professional reputation, Brady’s been a monk on this topic, leaving everyone to wonder: Why doesn’t an innocent man, if he’s innocent, proclaim his innocence?

    2. Are you a cheater? Peter Alexander of NBC News asked this question in that January press conference, and Brady had a most curious response: “I don’t think so.” It’s a simple yes or no question.”

    (see exact transcript Q&A below)

Q: “ This has raised a lot of uncomfortable conversations for people around this country who view you as their idol. The question they’re asking themselves is, ‘What’s up with our hero?’ Can you answer right now, is Tom Brady a cheater?”

TB: “I don’t believe so. I feel like I’ve always played within the rules. I would never do anything to break the rules. I believe in fair play and I respect the league and everything they’re doing to try to create a very competitive playing field for all the NFL teams. It’s a very competitive league. Every team is trying to do the best they can to win every week. I believe in fair play and I’ll always believe in that for as long as I’m playing.”

The lack of electronic data provided by Tom Brady will leave everyone wondering. Being that NFL players are obligated to cooperate with investigations (to protect the integrity of the game), why would Tom Brady not make his electronic data available for the investigation? Especially when he was given special circumstances to safeguard his private data:

(see exact transcript from Ted Wells’ Q&A interview below)

“What about Tom Brady’s lack of cooperation? Did you view Tom Brady as not cooperating fully?

Wells: “Mr. Brady, the report sets forth, he came to the interview, he answered every question I put to him. He did not refuse to answer any questions. In terms of the back and forth between Mr. Brady and my team, he was totally cooperative. At the same time, he refused to permit us to review electronic data from his telephone or other instruments. Most of the key evidence, as in most cases, come from people’s cell phones and he refused to let us review the phone and I want to be crystal clear. I told Mr. Brady and his agent I did not, I was willing not to take possession of the phone. I said I don’t want to see any private information, I said you keep the phone. You the agent, Mr. Yee, you can look at the phone. You give me documents that are responsive and I will take your word that you have given me what’s responsive. And they still refused.”

Having performed numerous investigations in the past, Ted Wells was asked if there was ever an issue with anyone not fully cooperating in his past investigations:
(see exact transcript from Ted Wells’ Q&A interview below)

“You mentioned the other reports, you mentioned the Dolphins report, the Bernie Fine report, the Billy Hunter report, is it rare in your experience that you would get that lack of cooperation from someone you were looking into?”

Wells: “Yes. All those reports can be accessed and I’m not sure in any of those reports and I could be wrong because they’re lengthy and some of them are years ago, but I don’t recall saying that anybody failed to cooperate. … One correction, I think in the Hunter report, I did say Mr. Joe Lombardo refused to cooperate and as some of you know he was later convicted of fraud against the NBA.”

Tom Brady could not provide his electronic data. Here is why:
    A) Tom Brady turns over his electronic data and the investigation now presumably has all the evidence needed to make the case to prove Tom Brady either innocent or guilty (whether or not you think the data reveals he is innocent or guilty is up to you…)

    B) Tom Brady ‘picks and chooses’ the electronic data he and his agent, Don Yee, feel are responsive to the investigation (as requested by the investigation and Ted Wells). This seems easy enough, almost too easy. Now you may ask, “Why not submit a handful of text messages to the investigator?” Tom Brady can NOT ‘pick and choose’ which text messages (electronic data) he submits to the investigation because anything submitted will likely be checked and balanced by the investigator with all of the electronic data and messages that the investigation already has in their possession to ensure everything ‘matches.’ Any phone calls or text messages that the investigators already had in their possession (from the phones of McNally and Jastremski) that was not submitted by Tom Brady would create more doubt, concern, and raise the red flag appearing that Tom Brady was attempting to hide something.

  26. Pats fans need to remember that most real NFL fans respect and generally like Tom Brady. His legacy as a ball player is not what’s troubling: IT’S HIS LEGACY AS A MAN THAT HE IS TARNISHING.

  27. Well Brady did NOT cooperate with the investigator. That automatically justified the suspension. And that makes him look guilty.

  28. Imagine this scenario:
Ninkovitch: I suppose it is possible, tho not probable that Brady compromised the game a tiny bit.
Kraft: You are cut, you lying, ungrateful, worthless, talentless sack of crap. How dare you not worship at the feet of the ICON of virtue that embodies the entire existence of the NE Patriots.

  29. Ninko is right on the money. As I’ve said before, if it wasn’t the Patriots, no one would care. And for all of the idiots that have been posting all morning that “Brady better watch out, if he sues the NFL then everyone will testify to everything under oath, and then he’ll be screwed”…do you really think he doesn’t know that?? He has a team of lawyers, he knows EXACTLY what will happen if it goes to court, yet he’s doing it anyway because that’s what he WANTS. Tends to make me think that he didn’t do anything wrong, has nothing to hide, and can’t wait for his lawyers to tear that joke “Wells report” to shreds. I don’t think that Brady and the Pats would be going scorched earth like this if they weren’t innocent. You want someone to blame for this whole mess? The Colts, Irsay, Grigson, Kensil, Goodell, etc…take your pick. The Wells report is nothing but a perfect example of having a predetermined outcome and then cherry picking “facts” and “evidence” to support it. Because for as bad as Goodell looks right now, just imagine how bad he’d look if the report found that the Patriots did NOTHING WRONG after that half assed sting operation. Allowing the first half of the AFCCG to be played before testing, not knowing that weather affects ball PSI, not knowing which guages were used, finding that 3 of the 4 Colts balls were under inflated but not “having enough time” to check ALL of them? Laughable. I bet Rodger is sitting in a dark room somewhere wishing that he had told the Colts to just man up and TRY to compete with the Patriots on the field instead of letting this whole situation spiral out of control and blow up in his face.

  31. I wonder how many hours of their lives all the trolls have wasted in the past week by commenting on literally every single Pats article.

PFT’s 10 most commented articles: 10 articles about the Patriots.

It’s good to see the Patriots give you a purpose in life. 🙂

  32. Well$, the impartial (laugh) attorney:

1.) rejects/throws out scientific factual evidence that exnerates the accused party (Patriots)

2.) rejects/throws out scientific factual evidence that implicates the accuser (Colts).

3.) does NOT investigate additional accusers – Kinsel, Grigson, Harbaugh (Ravens) & Goodell as well.

4.) wants Brady’s phone but not the accusers phones.

5.) does NOT investigate NFL Refs and the lack of proper NFL protocol in registering, measuring & recording football pressure (Rule 17)

6.) concludes that Bray & Patriots “PROBABLY did it”

OK Then, any JUDGE will tear into Well$ like a kid on Christmas morning with presents.

No it isn’t…. That’s silly. Even if he did it his reputation is not ruined forever.

  34. Let’s see Joe Montana. Dan Marino. Brett Favre. Troy Aikman. Peyton Manning. John Elway. Their character has never come under this kind of scrutiny. So cut the crap!! 35. So what it’s news one teammate defends him? I think the relative silence of the rest of the team is more newsworthy.

    —————

It was an easy tactic for Wells to ask for texts and emails from Brady because he knew he would never provide them. Automatic assumed guilt. Don’t forget that Gostowski didn’t provide text and email either. Players don’t have to and I don’t see why they would. Bad precedent. Brady will turn them over if discovery requires him to do it as part of a legal proceeding.

  38. So says a teammate, like anyone would believe what this guys got to say. Ask anyone outside of ma. if they think tom shadys a cheater. I think you’ll have your answer.

  39. I love how the haters call Pats fans delusional. You know who’s delusional? People who think you can cheat your way to FOUR Super Bowl wins. Seriously. Get a clue. If their “cheating” is such a surefire way to win then why have they even lost a single Super Bowl the last 15 years? I’ll tell you why. Because you can’t cheat your way to the Super Bowl, never mind 4 of them (6 total).

  40. Sure. And Brady wouldn’t cheat on and then dump his pregnant girlfriend either. Because he’s all about integrity.

  41. Patriots cheating? Please…. Videotaping, technology mysteriously malfunctioning at Gillette Stadium, and how about Belecheat falsifying the injury report EVERY week during the year. Yes, I think it’s fair to say they will skirt the rules ANY CHANCE they can get!

  42. I feel sorry of all of the kids who go to school with the children of Patriots fans.
The Patriots parents obviously do their homework for their kids, permit them to cheat on tests, permit them to cheat in youth sports, steal from their friends, and break any and all rules.
I can just see the police talking to the parents about recent neighborhood break ins. The Patriots parents swearing on a bible that their precious angel Johnny is innocent and a decorated Boy Scout. While at the same time, lil brat Johnny is down the street ransacking the poor Widows home, stealing all her belongings, and spraying graffiti all over her home

  43. Actually Brady could care less. Over the years he has deflated balls which helped him throw better which in return bettered his stats. So, Brady has gotten millions off his success (all while cheating) so now he could retire and live happily ever after with his retired model wife. I say do the NFL a favor and do this cause the country is tired of cheating scandals with him and the pats . Enjoy your millions

  44. Aaron Hernandes was convicted of murder on circumstantial evidence. So its easy for me to see how Brady can be found guilty in a matter of far less significance.

Looks like a desperate attempt by Cheaters

  54. I think I saw Brady, Pete Rose, and Barry Bonds over at the local bar toasting each other.

    Integrity?? And pigs fly.

  55. I am loving the delusional pats fans who despite years if cheating by Billichek & Brady – they are still in denial here

    It’s quite amusing!!

  56. There you have it…good enough me. Doctor I’ll have my Lithium treatment now and please be a dear and send some to my friend Mr Ninkovich.

  57. MARK MY WORDS….

Roger will soon (as he is already trying to do) spinning this whole thing as a punishment for not fully cooperating with the league during the investigation as opposed to ANYTHING to do with ball PSI…..

The incompetence of the Wells investigation is completely beyond comprehension that he will have no choice but to roll with that approach…

That approach too will soon blow up in his face as Brady & the Pats did cooperate almost beyond reason but drew the line on his personal phone records due to fear of all the leaks that the NFL League office have had thruout the entire investigation in accordance with who he is, knows, & married to he was probably paranoid of what else would be leaked…lets face it folks, the league office has more leaks than the Titanic did after it hit the iceberg & we all know how well that worked out!!!

The you know what is about to hit the fan for Roger & the League & just watch how all this will try to be re directed & spun that disclosure & ” sufficient” co operation is the real issue here for the punishment & has NOTHING to do with ball PSI….

The Pats co operated fully with he league during the investigation as Wells has ALREADY contradicted himself as to the “deflator text” & having it in his possession from the start….

Roger messed with the bull & now he’ll get the horns…in other words, he massively screwed up & now the Pats & Brady will be going after this like a shark smelling blood in the water!!!

AGAIN…this will all soon be trying to be spun as a lack of complete & total co operation…Mark my words!

  58. Little too late to say that now. Or if he really wanted to prove his innocence, he could have handed over the text messages directly related to deflategate between him and the guys who lost their jobs and took the fall. Real simple.

And no…he wasn’t asked to provide his entire cell phone. Just the messages related to the issue.

  59. I also think deep down current and 3 time Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady is tired of playing against puny little wussies that call themselves “competition”.

It’s long past time they all folded. Enough is enough. They had their chance. Let’s give 31 new teams a shot. It’s long past time. In fact we need to start a letter writing campaign right now. Get the 31 wussy teams and their fans out of the NFL and give the World Champion Patriots some true competition.

  60. “I don’t think Tom would ever do anything to jeopardize the integrity of the game,” says Ninkovich. Sorry, but he already did. I commend your support of your teammate–loyalty to one’s quarterback is admirable–but the Patriot organization, from the top on down, is a bunch of cheaters and has been for a long time. Everyone who’s paying attention across the nation (except the obtuse Pats fans) knows, recognizes, and understands that.

Actually most of the busts were for substance abuse.
Of the players that were suspended only 1 is still playing for the Seahawks. Bruce Irvin.
And one that was busted at separate times for PED and Substance abuse in particular didn’t play for the Seahawks last season. Maybe you recognize the name Brandon Browner. Lets see.. which team did he play for? Oh yeah, played for the NE Patriots.
So while Seattle has cleaned house, NE Patriots have given contracts to players that have been suspended for PEDs. Maybe you also heard of Tyms?
Could it be that since they had a corporate atmosphere of cheating that they didn’t mind giving them contracts?

    —————————

Yet another anonymous poster talking trash about a guy that got where he is through hard work and merit.

If the Patriots reputation is so bad with players in the league why do stars like Harrison, Seau, Revis, and Browner, sign with them for less money to earn a ring? Why did everyone of those guys sing the praises of Brady and Belichick after leaving the Patriots? Why did Vince Wilfork leave the team in free agency and call Brady the best quarterback to ever play the game? Maybe, just maybe, they know them man they went to battle with better than a guy sitting on a couch or an administrator in an NFL office.

    _________________________________

Ummm… Didn’t Revis make like $15mil last year? Harrison and Seau were on the back end of their careers and Browner was just coming off a suspension, correct? Yea, you’re point of people dying to play for the Pats is totally valid.

  63. Yep, and Nixon wouldn’t risk getting impeached by engineering Watergate, nor would Hernandez risk losing all his MILLIONS and his freedom by murdering people.

This guy may be on to something.

  64. Have any of you considered the very realistic ( and I would argue very highly probable) possibility. that Brady did no wrong and you have just rushed to judge him????

If Walt Anderson used the gauge he says he used then the balls were right where they were supposed to be, yet so many of you are so quick to just pounce on this guy based on flimsy evidence?

I wish those who have judged Brady without even hearing his side of it would apply the same level of scrutiny to Wells and Goodell. Brady has been a great competitor and QB for 15 years, and many have judged him as a cheat, a liar and a bad person without knowing all the facts.

Pretty pathetic and a sad commentary on our culture, if you ask me. Some of us love to rip people down.

  65. There’s blind love by Pats fans which I am one and then there’s also blind hate which is everyone outside of New England. For both there is no middle ground. Where I don’t see any definitive evidence, everyone outside of New England see’s Brady with a needle in the locker room letting out air himself. The truth may be somewhere in the middle but I’ve never heard or seen anything from Brady to feel he would deliberately do anything to diminish his credibility. Call it blind faith but I’d rather have blind faith then raging hate.

I think I saw Brady, Pete Rose, and Barry Bonds over at the local bar toasting each other.

    Integrity?? And pigs fly.
    =================================

Pete Rose was never accused of cheating. Not once, not ever, NEVER. Cheating has zero to do with Rose’s banishment. He didn’t screw with equipment and he never took any kind of PEDs like the other two. Get it straight Poker brain. Take your little piggies and watch them fly.

  67. @dukeearl Tyms wasn’t a member of pats when he got busted for PED’s. But all the Seahawk players were under contract and were failing PED test like ted wells failed at this report. Seahawks most positive test for PED’s 2010-2014. Guess pump em up Pete likes big men

  68. McNally is going to be Brady’s best witness:
    The smoking gauge:
Forget the logos. How can anybody forget whether the needle was bent or not? Best guess is he tested with the low reading gauge meaning that the balls were possibly higher than tested for. All McNally did was correct the error. That is they were all set to 12.5 by Tom’s gauge. This would also bring the Colt’s balls closer to the ideal gas law predictions. My guess is Walt knew and Mr. Wells is lying. Please release Anderson’s transcript. If Anderson tested with the higher measuring gauge they were all possibly lower than tested (Pat’s balls underinflated from the getgo).
Why didn’t Wells rig a manometer and test each gauge to verify the deviation of each from the true pressure when the manometer was set at 13.00 psi? Did he really need exponent or did he need a smokescreen? Kraft’s professor should turn in his Nobel since he ignored the “damning” conclusion that the differential pressure drop of the Colts’ balls was about half that of the Pats’ balls.
The smoking gauge in this mess is Brady’s (McNally’s gauge). They are still out there and simple manometer test will show the deviation of all three gauges from the true pressure provided by the manometer set at 13.00 psi.
Please note, Brady did nothing but demand balls inflated at 12.5 psi (not underinflated). It was McNally’s job to do so. At no time were the balls underinflated except if Anderson messed up (using a gauge that read higher then the true pressure).

  69. Also people are hating on Bob Kraft as well. He started as a season ticket holder bringing his son to Patriots games sitting on metal bench seats and rooting for a perennial loser. He purchases the team and has a new stadium built with his own money and no State funding. There used to be better High School stadiums in Texas better than the old Gillette stadium so yeah, I appreciate everything that Bob Kraft has done for us. Everyone else should to, because he was instrumental in getting the latest TV contract worked out with the Network and also instrumental in resolving the latest labor dispute. Everyone forget Indy’s Jeff Saturday thanking him after the negotiations.

Amazing how much envy there is de the pats.
Get your panties in a bunch much haters?
    ================================

That’s pretty funny. Too bad you can’t tell the difference between disgust/a lack of respect/revulsion and envy. Doesn’t say much for your intelligence.

  71. Oh and I might remind you all that we are talking about 0.38 PSI in footballs. That is the mean difference between the two measurements aka the logo gauge ones which would be as expected and exonerate the Patriots and the non logo gauge ones which would be not as expected and were accepted by the Wells Report.

That is 3.12% of the pressure in these 12 footballs.

Do you really think that a 3% difference in pressure is most likely explained by a plot where Brady instructed McNally to remove 3% of the pressure from these footballs (which I find ridiculous) vs just measurement error considering sloppy scientific conditions.

  72. Roger the Clown is all concerned about a level playing field….. until it comes to investigations and appeals.

  73. Ummm… Didn’t Revis make like $15mil last year? Harrison and Seau were on the back end of their careers and Browner was just coming off a suspension, correct? Yea, you’re point of people dying to play for the Pats is totally valid.
    ——–

Ummm…there are countless players who played for 2 or more teams, including the Belichick-led Patriots and the all say the same thing. They had more focus, success, and learned what REAL preparation and dedication to TEAM was…..when playing for the Patriots. They lost their “me first” attitudes and became better for it.

Oh yeah, and most of them learned what it takes to be a productive part of a winning organization for the very first time in their professional careers.

  74. Everything on the Patriots thread is about

Murdering, Cheating, Lying, Stealing and court cases.

Pats will be synonymous with dirty play and banter for a longtime. Pats will need to restructure and lose their coach and QB to start rebuilding credibility otherwise it will be years of pundit remarks.

  75. I guess we should all ignore the facts and rely on the opinion of those benefiting from the serial cheating.

    Makes sense.

And for the record, Hawks don’t lead the league in PED suspensions from 2010-2014; it’s that other Washington team.

Just shows how little research most do before vomiting on this board.

I, on the other hand, have researched the fumbling record of the Pats in detail and it proves they’ve cheated for a long time.

  76. Memo for Patriot fans: Please stop saying there is NO evidence. There is at least SOME evidence. You just don’t believe it’s compelling and I can respect that. Just stop saying there is NONE.

  77. Why did Brady lie about this? Why did Brady not share information from his phone messages that was relevant to the question of his involvement in doctoring the footballs?

This reminds me of Bill Clinton. His having an affair with someone was by itself not that big a deal, but his lying about it to Congress became the big deal. Had he admitted right off the bat about this, it might not have garnered all that much attention, let alone an impeachment hearing.

It also reminds me of Nixon. His having ordered a break-in was by itself somewhat of a big deal, but it was clearly his lying to Congress and the country that got him impeached. Had he come clean right away, and indicated that some members of the GOP administration may have gone too far in implementing his requests, he may have been able to complete his second term in a more honorable way.

What about you, Tom Brady? It is not too late even now, to pull back from the NFLPA-filed request for a hearing, and to simply admit that the competitive nature of the position you play, and the enormously high expectations you put on yourself, resulted in doing something to gain a competitive advantage. You still have time. Don’t miss this opportunity. Your legacy depends on your next few steps.

  78. The hysteria happened when that first report came out after the Colts game, about 11 of 12 being under inflated. That report was wrong, but you losers want to pretend like it was right. What a bunch of drama queens you are.

  79. “We didn’t write anything down before the game started. At halftime, we used two different gauges. We only tested most of the footballs, not all. We looked at some texts between equipment personnel about shoes. You are guilty.”

Yeah. I think that about sums it up and I think, by itself, it ain’t gonna hold up.

    Fargin’ War!

  80. ahmmmm

that Peyton comment above….well he really hasn’t had anything close to Brady’s success in the post season so that may have something to do with it….

  81. Anyone who says they’re certain that the Pats broke a rule, let alone that Brady knew about it is either jealous, stupid or both. The evidence isn’t there.

  82. How about checking with the ex-pats player setting in prison to see if he backs Tom, you know who I’m talking about. Mr. Kraft said who? Bill

  83. If your attorney or advisor told you not to turn over your cell phone messages, would you do it anyway? If you would, you’d be an idiot. And don’t worry, they know what’s coming. They will be prepared. I would cooperate with a “real” judge as opposed to the keystone cops that are associated with the NFL.

  84. Seriously haters? Does it really matter if Brady does or says everything you want him to? Turn over his electronics data? He will when he feels safe turning it over to a court of law and not that gossiping, soap opera called the NFL league office or it’s paid stoolies to do a so called “independent”(wink wink) “investigation. What happens if there is nothing on his phones? I’ll tell you what, you won’t accept it, he was guilty the second you heard of the “incident”. He could lay prostrate in front of the Pope and claim innocence and God himself( God being the deity, not Goodel) could confirm it but again haters are blind to any possibility that Brady isn’t guilty and a career long cheater. It would be at that point the hater’s that God too is a cheater in Kraft’s back pocket and is just a puppet in the evil Patriots schemes. In other words, Tom will never do or say anything that will appease the blood thirsty mob.

  85. I guess it’s the ball’s fault that the Colts got dominated at the line of scrimmage.

  86. Pats hAters

    U cry, we win
    U sob, we celebrate

We drink your tears and only get stronger. Everytime U babies wine I get happier. U whiny little cowards.

Both gauges showed that the balls were deflated, one just happened to show that they were MORE deflated than they were.

    That’s like saying I cheated a little bit….not a lot.

Pretty good at deflecting. The gauge used to test The Patriots balls was proven to read lower and the one used on the Colts higher. In other words they weren’t equal and indeed if switched the opposite would have been true. Then there’s that tasty little tidbit of 3 of 4 Colts balls testing underinflated too. Just to cement the fact this was predetermined the officials come up with a totally bogus excuse to stop testing the rest. Awesome, nothing to see here. Never mind that they badger Anderson to state that it MIGHT BE POSSIBLE he used the gauge pregame although he said several times he used the one that would have proven the science. I get it haters, you hate everything Patriots, Beleichick, Brady and Kraft but you’re really showing complete lack of common sense if you won’t at least allow yourself to question obviously questionable actions by the league officials right from the start.

  88. If the miniscule amount of pressure missing(released) from the balls should be considered ridiculous and gave no advantage whatsoever, why do the Patriots fumble FAR less than every other team in the nfl?? Brady knew… Running backs knew, coaches knew. Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt pats fans.

  89. Absolutely the greatest quarterback of all time.at a star even a hero. Definitely did not have footballs deflated.Science proves that the cold weather did it.Just that simple.Drive for 5.

  90. Not a Patriots fan here but I do believe Goodell has fumbled this more than even Michael Vick could. It is absolutely a witch hunt and every single team in the NFL would have many many violations of the ‘integrity’ one way or another. I’ll even admit I was a non believer and chastised Brady from the getgo but now that I have read the Wells Report and seen the actual FACTS, it’s undeniable that he is innocent. To say Tom Brady cheated is to say that the Philadelphia Eagles DID win a Super Bowl. Never gonna happen.

  91. Patriots have always been able to maintain their focus. Brady’s four-game suspension may make that harder than ever

I’m figuring it will do just the opposite.

  92. Ok, ok, ok, I think I got it now…. Kensil rubbed stickum on the needle that Ray Rice used to tamper with the football that Grigson intercepted in the elevator where McNally punched his wife for calling him “The Deflator” even though he only gained all that weight because he only carried the insulated equipment bag at home games, and THAT’S why the footballs were thin. But where does Jerry Rice fit in again? Ugggh

  93. nobel prize winner “I believe the data available on ball pressures can be explained on the basis of physical law, without manipulation” or you can believe a company that proved cigarettes don’t cause cancer when working for a tobacco company . without air missing the texts from months before the AFCCG are out of context . all that is left is the balls taken too the bathroom , that is illegal and the patriots deserve a fine for it .

  94. “Pretty good at deflecting. The gauge used to test The Patriots balls was proven to read lower and the one used on the Colts higher. In other words they weren’t equal and indeed if switched the opposite would have been true. ”

Wrong. Both of the gauges showed that the ball was deflated by a significant amount. It just depends on what amount. The Colts had a couple that tested low, but it was within the range of the cold weather effect. The Patriots were well beyond that.

  95. The pats don’t fumble far less than other teams that report was debunked

Also to the guy who said both balls were lower one was just a little lower than others please read wells report or wells report context. Even wells report, not to mention anyone that took high achool chemistry, acknowledges that the balls would drop between 1.0-1.2 psi. That means that the measurement where the mean psi was 11.49 was EXACTLY as expected. The other mean was 0.38 psi lower.

I’m guessing most of the hateful people on here haven’t bothered to understand this

im not saying it didnt happen, im saying it isnt proven. there is not one piece of evidence in the wells report that PROVES brady told someone to deflate the footballs after the refs had cleared them for the game. nothing.

  100. Using the Pats definition of integrity I guess he’s right. Then again the Pats definition of integrity is what you can get away with and then resort to deny, deny then accuse.

  101. This story is really getting ridiculous.

Has anyone explained whether or not is possible the balls just had lower air pressure than normal as a result of game play? Not The Ideal Gas Law, maybe the way they hit the ground that day, or the way they were clutched by the players, or the balls weren’t closed up properly?

I’m sure I’m going to be called naive or a Patriots lover because of this.

Does the NFL have any statistics on the PSI of a football that took a significant beating in a half?

  104. Too late for that comment on his integrity…I’m not seeing any at this point.

  105. Guide to Lies posted by Patriot Haters:

A negative narrative pervades the sports world about the New England Patriots that is filled with lies and facts taken out of context. This has led to precious little objectivity by non-Pats fans about the conclusions of the Wells report, which I won’t get into here. This post is to correct many, but not all misunderstandings that the has led to this false narrative of the Pats.

Lie 1) Patriots cheated by the Tuck Rule

A patient of mine this week said, (in LA, didn’t realize I am a Pats fan), “The NFL invented the Tuck Rule for the Patriots”.

Fact: The Tuck Rule was an actual rule applied correctly at the time. It was modified later and was on the books until recently

Lie 2) The Patriots cheated with SpyGate

Fact: This is the biggest false narrative on anything with the Patriots. The Patriots never spied on anyone, they for years openly recorded opposing sidelines in view of players, coaches, fans and TV cameras, in Patriots gear. Every tape obtained by the NFL, minus the first 8 minutes of the 1st Pats game in 2007 (vs. the Jets), was obtained perfectly legally. And they never used the 2007 Jets tape so, contrary to media mistruths, the Patriots literally never cheated with FilmGate. Recording opposing sidelines/signals had been a practice in the NFL for decades as testified to by 5 SB winning coaches (Parcells, Gruden, Johnson, Knolls and Cowher). It had receded in use because of lack of productivity due to changes in the game by 2007. The Patriots were penalized for the filming the 8 minutes of the Jets game only, Goddell saying that it was a blatant breach of a new rule. He also said that the Pats never, “cheated” and never used info during a game. Those are the facts.

Lie 3) The Patriots cheated by spying on the Rams before the SB. (This is often conflated with, “Spygate” and people still think that they were convicted of this.)

Facts: The Patriots were cleared by the NFL on spying on the Rams. No tape existed, the Patriots set up cameras the day before the SB in Patriot gear with the permission and knowledge of the Rams for the SB game-day film. There were no battery packs found on the cameras and literally no way they could have been used to record anything.

Lie 4) The Patriots pumped noise into Foxboro Stadium.

Fact: The Patriots were cleared of that by an NFL investigation.

Lie 5) The Patriots interrupted communications between opposing teams and QBs in games at Foxboro Stadium.

Fact: The Patriots were cleared of that by an NFL investigation.

Lie 6) The Patriots invented a new illegal formation to cheat against the Ravens in the 2014 AFC Divisional Playoff game.

Fact: The formation was legal at the time and was not invented by the Patriots, it had been used before by the Lions and in college by Baylor and Alabama, at least, as well as high school teams.

Lie 7) Brady has been cheating by deflating balls in his NFL career.

Fact: No evidence, besides innuendo, exists that, other than the 2014 AFC title game, Brady used deflated footballs. (And, needless to say, as a Pats fan anyway, the, “evidence” of deflated balls in that game is tainted and hardly incontrovertible. But that is for another post).

Conclusion: Though the Patriots deserve some derision for certain practices, mostly by Belecik, the team’s 4 SB wins are legitimate and so are Brady’s and the Patriots legacy. Even if you believe that the Pats delfated balls against the Colts, they won by 38 points, played better with, “regulation” balls in the 2nd half and beat the Seahawks with regulation balls.

  106. The ideal gas law was discovered by Mike McCarthy after a Packers team breakfast of eggs and cheese curds with fried onions and ketchup and sauerkraut and pigs feet and warm Michelob draft.

  107. As a die hard pats fan is I’ll say this, you haters certainly focus a hell of a lot more on the pats then us pats fans focus on your team, but thats probably only becuase your team is irrelevant.

Remember this your team is between .2 and .4 psi away from winning 4 superbowls, feel better now?

ignore the facts and focus on the pats, hey if my team was getting beaten badly by the pats consistently for the last 15 years maybe I would also troll every article I could find and not pay attention to my crappy team.

Now I’m off to go see if I can find any leaked pictures of the pats 4th Super Bowl rings, keep trolling we are on to number 5

  108. Whether Brady did anything wrong or not, the way he’s handled this has affected the outcome.

You’d think this would have annoyed some of his fanbase and players, as now they’re in a position to be forced to defend him, but it seems like they’re annoyed at everyone else instead.

If he is guilty, he should have just admitted it from the beginning, and this whole circus would have been far diminished. The punishment would have been lighter and the average fan would have been fine with it.

If he isn’t guilty, he sure could have done his teammates and fan a favor by cooperating and proving it. Did he have to? No. But if I were a Pats fan, you better believe I would have been calling for this.

Pats fans scream “hater” and “jealous”, but in all honesty, Brady brought this down on you guys. The same polling company that showed most people didn’t think under-inflating balls was a big deal also showed that Brady’s popularity plummeted recently. And it never wavered when he won Super Bowls, so that rules out “hate” as the reason.

  109. Brady had a full-day interview with the Wells team. He didn’t fully cooperate, it’s true, by not providing texts/emails. However, they did have all communications of McNally and Jastremzky, and they found no smoking gun there so who would Brady be communicating to if there were incriminating communications?

  110. Boy, the definition of the words fact, proof and truth are sure taking a beating from both sides in this fiasco.

Everybody is suddenly a law scholar. Laughable that the same Pats fans who thought Wells and Goodell were geniuses in the most recent drummed up scandal (aka Bullygate), but are singing a different tune when the shoe is on the other foot.

    Boo hoo.

  111. Pats have been better than most at not fumbling, because they extra-focus on ball control in practice as was seen 2 seasons ago when Ridley was standing on the sidelines in his jeans holding a ball in his arm – a week after fumbling twice. The Pats are known for being strict about that and have gotten rid of RBs that couldn’t hold on to the ball. That is why the NFL and media focused on Brady and not Belecik, because they knew Belecik puts a premium on having players that don’t fumble.

  112. Unbelievable how many vultures are out. So desperate for the get it out there that the Patriots are cheaters and that Brady is a liar. So smug that the Patriots fans are suffering. The problem is he fans aren’t suffering too badly. Our team won the Super Bowl. This noise can’t wreck that joy.

I ceretainly feel for Brady. I don’t know for sure if he’s innocent or guilty, which is what the report says too, and like any other observer the report makes it seem probable he was involved. It doesn’t mean he was, as “more probable than not” means he is 49% possibly innocent. He’s definitely defending himself like he’s innocent. We’ll see how the process plays out. For any one condemning him, they should wait and see too.

  113. Stop insulting my intelligence, he has no integrity it’s win @ all cost. I was hoping his penalty got reduced so he was available for Dallas (I being an Eagle fan) but he didn’t feel the need to show his phone therefore not participating in the investigation. Refuse a breathalyzer when suspected of DUI. Your guilty. Same here for me.

  114. Baseball had it’s “Steriod Era” now the NFL has “The Chea tri ot Era.” Lot of records and SuperBowls* that don’t mean much to anyone outside of Boston proper.

  115. For all you fans living in a dream world… Do your research on the history of cheating in the NFL… I’ll help you out a bit to start off…. Any steeler /Broncos fan doesn’t have a leg to stand on! And btw…. The pats are middle of the pack… Now do your research before you run your mouth

That is why the NFL and media focused on Brady and not Belecik, because they knew Belecik puts a premium on having players that don’t fumble.

Well that explains it. Belichcik values the ball.

We’ll skip, for a moment, the naive implication that this makes Belichick unique among coaches.

From 2003 to 2006 the Pats fumbled 1 per 44.5 plays. This was pre rule change.

From 2007 to 2014 the Pats fumbled 1 per 74.5 plays.

Belichick was the coach and Brady the QB the entire time.

Are you suggesting the brilliant Belichick one day figured out that fewer fumbles were better than more fumbles, something he hadn’t known from 2003 – 2006, and this enlightening just coincidentally happened at the same time as the rule change allowing Pats to handle their own balls?

He also was able to magically halve the fumbles in one off season going from 1 fumble per 41.5 plays in 2006 (pre rule change) to 1 fumble per 82.25 plays in 2007 (post rule change).

Amazing stuff and quite an ‘explanation’. Of course a much easier explanation is that Belichick always valued the ball and simply began deflating balls starting in 2007.

This has nothing to do with others’ reports, these numbers can be looked up and calculated by anyone. And this has nothing to do with Pats’ fumbles vs anyone else’s.

It seems unlikely a team could (legally) cut their long term fumble rate in half in one off season and stay at the lower rate ever since.

And before anyone comes with the “Pats became a passing team” excuse, the Pats ran the ball exactly 0.9 times fewer per game from 2007-2014 vs 2003-2006.

Please check my math and tell me I’mmwrong.

  118. “There IS evidence. And, if he didn’t do anything wrong, why did he refuse to make his texts available to the investigators?”

  119. Judge to Goodell : The second half of the AFCCG was PATRIOTS 28 to colts 0. Mr. Goodell, Why did you not exonerate the PATRIOTS at that point ???

Goodell : It backfired on us on the first sting attempt.

Judge : Mr. Goodell, you leaked false information for two weeks leading up to the SuperBowl, WHY ???

Goodell : That was our second attempt to undermine the PATRIOTS.

Judge : Under the highest NFL scrutiny, the PATRIOTS defeated, perhaps, the Best Defense in NFL history – Why did you not exonerate the PATRIOTS at this point.

Goodell : We were hoping the Seahawks would win (whimper) but that also FAILED.

Judge : And no exoneration for the PATRIOTS I assume? What did you do next?

Goodell : I hired Mr. Well$ in a fourth attempt to discredit the PATRIOTS.

Judge : Mr. Goodell, Why do you feel it necessary to discredit the PATRIOTS.

Goodell : For NFL Parity & to protect the Sheild – I AM the SHEILD !!!!

Judge : OK, I’ve heard enough !!! Take Mr. Goodell to the psyche ward and have him thoroughly evaluated.

Judge : Mr. Well$, you are up next!

Well$ : He made me do it – He made me do it !!!

  120. Tired of the Brady supporters (like Teddy B) who “know” Tom would “never” (fill in the blank). NOBODY knows what ANYBODY would do in a given situation. You can bet and you can be right 999 times out of 1000 but not 1000. People are human; they make mistakes and occasionally act out of their normal character in ways even they don’t understand. Unless they were there, they simply can’t vouch for what they did or didn’t do, only what they BELIEVE they would or would not do.

  121. I just read the Discovery on the Well$ Report.

Well$ is in deep shee-it and will most likely be disbarred for some time.

    Goodell = crash & burn

Expect a PATRIOTS 16-0 regular season again.

  122. The only caveat I can think of is do WE know what is going on simply from the evidence so far. Looks guilty on the surface but who knows with these guys? Belichek paid up pretty quickly last time. Do the pats know something we don’t and is that why they are pressing this? Hard to believe this is about just protecting a legacy. Something is up.

  123. As a die hard pats fan is I’ll say this, you haters certainly focus a hell of a lot more on the pats then us pats fans focus on your team, but thats probably only becuase your team is irrelevant.

However, they did have all communications of McNally and Jastremzky, and they found no smoking gun there so who would Brady be communicating to if there were incriminating communications?

And don’t forget a lot cheating.

Yes Revis certainly took a great pay cut at what $16,000,000 just to play for the Pats.

Most people say nice things about their coworkers especially when you’re close like a football team. Duh.

Most people who play professional sports want to win championship (especially when they’re up there in age and already have millions of dollars all Seau, Harrison, etc) whether they’re cheating (like Bill and Brady) or walking a grey area, or fairly. That’s the ultimate goal. Not really a mystery there buddy.

I noticed Revis liked playing for the Pats so much he took another pay cut just to come back. Oh wait, never mind.

  128. Why do you think ex pats(wilfork, revis)are jumping ship this year. Would you want to go through a cheating scandel all offseason knowing your qb is a cheater and that you have no real chance at winning the sb next season? I wouldn’t.

Hey, I am “at least aware” that my neighbor is a call girl. Does that mean I am guilty of solicitation?

Zero evidence in the Well$ report and he says Brady “Probably was aware”

Goodell, Vincent & Well$ are the laughing stock of the NFL.

  131. Reading some of these comments and some of the misinformation people say makes me feel sad at how hateful, misinformed and just plain judgemental some “internet tough guys” are even though they clearly lack the information or critical thinking to make reasonable assertions.

    Thanks again for Blount! 🙂

Clearly Blount wanted to play for a REAL football team, one that EARNS their titles and doesn’t cheat or pay off the refs to get them.

He knows that without cheating the Steelers true talent level is to get whooped by Tim Tebow in the playoffs. Tim freaking TEBOW. Who on earth would want to play for a sorry team like that??? Can’t blame him for finding the first lifeboat off that sinking ship in Pittsburgh. I would have done the same thing.

  133. I apologize if the table doesn’t align the way it was supposed to.

Can somebody please answer a few questions for me?
    According to these two sentences in the Wells report (located on pg. 52);

    1. “Anderson‟s best recollection is that he used the Logo Gauge”

But at the bottom of pg. 52… we believe it is more probable that Anderson used the Non-Logo Gauge for his pre-game measurements.

    2. “We credit (Walt)Anderson‟s recollection of the pre-game measurements taken on the day of the AFC Championship Game”

Question 1: Why is it that the Wells report itself credit Anderson’s recollection about the pregame measurements (that were not recorded anywhere) and then discredits his recollection about which gauge he used?

Question 2: Why, according to the Wells report, is it more probable that Walt Andersons’ memory is NOT believable regarding the single gauge he used, but his memory is perfect for remembering the pressures of 12 Patriots balls and 12 colts balls as well as all of the back up balls?

    According to this sentence in the Wells report (located on pg. 116);

“Clete Blakeman most likely used the Non-Logo Gauge and Dyrol Prioleau most likely used the Logo Gauge (the same gauge the Walt Anderson recollected using to test the balls pregame) to test the Patriots game balls at halftime, and that the game officials most likely switched gauges before measuring the Colts balls at halftime.”

Question 3: Why doesn’t the Wells report state emphatically that the gauges WERE switched between the officials instead of the vague “most likely”? It’s because they aren’t sure the gauges were switched, they are just assuming the gauges were switched so they can explain why the pressures are so different.

    According to this sentence in the Wells report (located on pg. 8);

“Farley recorded the halftime pressure measurements taken by the game officials as follows”:

    Colts Ball Blakeman Prioleau

    Logo Gauge Non-Logo Gauge

    1 12.70 12.35

    2 12.75 12.30

    3 12.50 12.95

    4 12.55 12.15

Question 4: (Keeping in mind that the Wells report says “it is more probable that Anderson used the Non-Logo Gauge for his pre-game measurements”, and that “Most of the Colts game balls tested by Anderson prior to the game measured 13.0 or 13.1 psi”) Does Prioleau’s measurements not show that 3 out of 4 Colts balls tested were under-inflated? In fact does it now show that the Colt balls had a drop in pressure of up to 1 psi?

    According to this paragraph in the Wells report (located on pg. 39 – 40);

“In other words, using the Ideal Gas Law, … the Patriots balls should have measured between 11.52 and 11.32 psig at the end of the first half.”

    Patriots Ball Blakeman Prioleau

    Non-Logo Gauge Logo Gauge

    1 11.50 11.80

    2 10.85 11.20

    3 11.15 11.50

    4 10.70 11.00

    5 11.10 11.45

    6 11.60 11.95

    7 11.85 12.30

    8 11.10 11.55

    9 10.95 11.35

    10 10.50 10.90

    11 10.90 11.35

Question 5: (Keeping in mind that the Logo Gauge is the one that Walt Anderson recollects using to test the balls pregame) Does Prioleau’s measurements not show that 8 out of 11 Patriots balls tested within the range predicted by the Ideal Gas Law?

    According to this paragraph in the Wells report (located on pg. XII of the Exponent report);

“the Colts footballs were used as a “control” group when evaluating and determining test parameters for the pertinent experiments. In other words, because we could reasonably assume that the Colts measurements collected at halftime on Game Day were the result only of natural causes”

Question 6: Why is there no mention in the Wells report as to where the Colts had their balls stored on the field during the AFC Championship Game?

I have seen it said that the Colts stored their football’s next to a propane heater on the sidelines which kept them warmer than the Patriots footballs meaning that the Colts warmer footballs would not lose as much pressure as the colder Patriots footballs. This could be a very important fact during an investigation.

Question 7: If in fact the Wells report doesn’t know where the Colts had their footballs stored during the AFC Championship game, then…

    A) Was the report as thorough and factual as it should have been?

    B) Is it fair to use “the Colts footballs… as a “control” group when evaluating and determining test parameters when you cannot be exact as to the Colts footballs ambient temperature as compared to the Patriots footballs ambient temperature?

Let’s see Joe Montana. Dan Marino. Brett Favre. Troy Aikman. Peyton Manning. John Elway. Their character has never come under this kind of scrutiny. So cut the crap!! When you’re good for a long time people don’t like you. Sure! How about when you lie for a long time people don’t like you! So sick of hearing that crap! Get over yourself!! Tell the truth and move on already!!

    ———————-

They don’t come under scrutiny because for some reason haters don’t care that Montana’s stats are inflated by throwing to the cheater Jerry Rice. They don’t care for some reason that Troy Aikman’s coach also employed Spygate tactics on the way to 2 SBs. For some reason, they don’t care that John Elway QBd a salary cap cheating vaseline wearing OL on its way to 2 SBs. For some reason they don’t care that Peyton Manning played in a stadium that illegally pumped in crowd noise. They don’t care that Favre was only fined $50K for not turning in his cell phone during an NFL investigation (I understand that it wasn’t for an “integrity of the game” issue, but he still refused to turn over his cell).

More examples? For some reason haters don’t care that the Steve Young led 49ers were salary cap cheaters. They don’t care that Terry Bradshaw won 4 SBs with the benefit of PEDs (ie steroids). Oh wait! Everyone was doing steroids in the 70s? But I thought the “everyone was doing it” excuse didn’t matter. Does that only apply to the Patriots? Oh! I see.

So again, do your homework. God! I am so sick of telling haters to do their homework and to get some perspective.

Both gauges showed that the balls were deflated, one just happened to show that they were MORE deflated than they were.

    That’s like saying I cheated a little bit….not a lot.

    —————————

They also showed that the Colts balls were deflated too. Do you mean under inflated? Because, yes, after applying Ideal Gas Law, Boyle’s Law and some logic, the Pats balls were under inflated…and so were the Colts balls.

It had been ten years between super bowls for Brady. I’m not buying the jealous thing. Tom is a great QB who cheated. Many people hate Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers, but they’ve never been accused of cheating. I would hope and expect every one of Brady’s teammates to support their QB 100%. So these words are meaningless.

    ——————————-

Manning and Rodgers have been accused of cheating. There are many accusations that the Colts pumped in crowd noise which benefits Manning and the Colts. Aaron Rodgers has been accused of cheating by over inflating footballs knowing that the referees are so lax in checking them that he knows a few will get threw, therefore cheating. And even if zero over inflated footballs get through, the INTENT to cheat is still there.

I guess we should all ignore the facts and rely on the opinion of those benefiting from the serial cheating.

I, on the other hand, have researched the fumbling record of the Pats in detail and it proves they’ve cheated for a long time.

    ————————

Ignore the facts, huh? The little fumbling argument you mention? Debunked. The problem with the fumble report (if it’s the one I think you’re referencing) is that it cherry picked the numbers in order to get the desired results. Sounds like the Wells Report. It also omitted variables that could have explained some of the results. Sounds like the Wells Report. While the Pats fumble numbers do stand out, it’s not as pronounced as this report wants you to believe.

  139. begreg, colts balls weren’t under inflated. learn how to read.

all of this talk about people being jealous of brady’s success or whatever, doesn’t hold water. what reason does goodell have to want to bring down brady? is the league commissioner “just jealous”? simply asinine.

and fans of other teams aren’t jealous of pats fans either. how brainless do you have to be to be jealous of a group of fans? what role do fans play in a team’s success or failure? fans have no control over a team winning or losing, and therefore have no reason to boast or wallow in the outcome of “their” team’s season. just plain stupid…

  140. begreg, it’s like you read half of every story. is someone else actually reading them for you and not revealing the ending?

manning doesn’t have control over a team piping in sound and rodgers said he likes balls over-inflated, not that they used over-inflated balls.

try reading the whole story from now on and kill the the rumor-mongering housewife act.

  141. Oh and Patriots fans can’t be that stupid, the majority live in Massachusetts, statistically speaking The Most Educated state in the nation!!!!!!!!!

    =======================

Stupid people get educations all the time.
    Exhibit A: Roger Goodell

  142. begreg has lost touch with reality. no one cares about what happened in the past bcuz no one cares about any player’s “legacy”. we’re talking about now, and if it were someone as lame as blaine gabbert, people would be killing him equally.

btw, has anyone noticed gisele’s got man face?

  143. So you wouldn’t take Brady as your QB, regardless of this nonsense? Even if it’s true, and it isn’t, you really wouldn’t want this guy as your QB?

  144. this whole debate about legacy is nonsense. is brady the GOAT? no idea. what i do know is, if brees, rodgers, p. manning, rivers, roethlisberger (and dozens of QBs over the years) swapped positions with brady they would have been equally or more successful than brady.

eli manning has won multiple super bowls. is he “better” than marino or kelly were? not even close. in a team sport, it’s a pointless argument…

  145. It should be mandatory before commenting on the Pats to read the full Wells report and the full rebuttal. Likewise one should fully understand Spygate by reading Scott Sheaffer’s piece at Bleacher Report. Further, you should acquaint yourself with Brady’s training habits and his year round body and mind regimen.

If after reading these, you still hate Brady and still refer to a culture of cheating and still think Spygate is cheating or spying, find an intelligent person to help you out.

    cheers

  146. If this case was held as a civil trial in a courtroom, the Patriots and Brady would very handily beat the NFL, based on preponderance of the evidence standard. It’s not even close.

  147. I think it’s a bad idea for Patriot fans to start attacking all these famous players. For various reasons, the Patriots came under scrutiny. What you’re doing is similar to little Johnny getting caught with his hand in the cookie jar and then tattling on his brother. Don’t point the finger, just fight your own case. My opinion is the Patriots can get the suspension reduced based on the very weak case of the NFL, but attacking all these legends of the game who were smart enough to stay under the radar, is not going to help matters.

The NFL refs need to stop taking suggestions from Colts players, or Ravens coaches and other adversaries of the Patriots and simply do their own job on their own initiative. Be more like baseball umpires and less friendly to these players.

  148. Ok Rob.

    1. Look up the definition of integrity.

    2. Explain how Tom Brady deflating footballs below league standards, then lying about it meets the definition of the word integrity.

  149. I’m getting SOOOOoooo tired of all this talk about the mighty Pats and their SB wins..particularly as ascribed to Mr. “never heard of him” Brady.
Here’s the history of those Super Bowls..

    2002 Rams – won by a kicker.
    2004 Panthers – won by a kicker
    2005 Philadelphia – won by a kicker
    2008 – Lost to Giants
    2012 – Lost to Giants
2015 – Seahawks – won by bad opposing coach decision.

  150. Rob who? Lets ask Steve Grogans back up what he thinks. There are really only a couple of whys in this case. Why always this team? Why the silence and obstruction? Why bother with a couple psi in a football? Last and not least why the blind support? I personally would be embarrassed to try to explain this away to other fans over and over.

  151. Not every team sees the Pats as a threat. I welcome playing the Pats. Usually it means another win. The last time the Pats pulled one out against my team they had a back up QB that should have won the game but a couple zebras interfered. If it wasn’t for a complete meltdown in the NFC title game the Pats would be whining about an investigation and another SB loss.

    Easily enough figured out.

    DO… YOUR… HOMEWORK!

Don’t rely on others’ work, look up the stats yourself.

From 2003-2006 the Pats fumbled 1 per 44.5 plays.

    Then the rule changed.

From 2007-2014 the Pats fumbled 1 per 74.5 plays.

These are readily available stats, look them up.

And before anyone uses the feeble “Pats turned into a passing team” argument, the Pats ran the ball exactly 0.9 times less per game from 2007-20014 vs 2003-2006.

So did the brilliant Belichick not realize ball security was important until the year between 2006 and 2007 and then magically cut fumbles in half?

Or more likely, did the Pats begin deflating balls and cheating?

  167. Lot of comments here flying back and forth. I have to agree that the Wells report is mostly speculation, and barely circumstantial evidence. There is no factual evidence or proof that Tom Brady is guilty of anything. Rest assure he is aware of the can of worms that will be opened if this all goes to Court. I am sure his Attorneys have informed him well. Note also, anyone knows if there is an ongoing investigation, one does not discuss openly any kind of details concerning the issue(s) in question. Discovery on both sides are key’s to their defense. So saying that, that is why Tom is not speaking publically about it. He publically gave his answer already, why ask him the question again.
