Sports book installs Seahawks-Colts as the most likely matchup for Super Bowl 50

AP

We used to approach pro football odds posts with the tack of “Gee whiz, can you believe those wacky oddsmakers are accepting bets on (insert topic here)?”

Well, let’s cut it out. The surprise now is if something isn’t available to bet. We know it and you know it.

With this in mind, we check in to inform you that an online sports book is offering odds on a wide range of matchups — and we mean wide — for Super Bowl 50.

Sportsbook.ag has installed a Seahawks-Colts NFL title game as the favorite at 15-1, with Seahawks-Patriots and Colts-Packers next at 18-1. Packers-Patriots is 20-1, with Seahawks-Broncos 22-1.

What are the longest-priced Super Bowl 50 matchups? Glad you asked. Here they are:

Bears-Titans: 3,000-1.

Washington-Oakland: 3,000-1.

Buccaneers-Jaguars: 3,300-1.

Washington-Jaguars: 4,000-1.

Buccaneers-Titans: 5,000-1.

Washington-Titans: 6,000-1.

Sports books rarely offer odds in quadruple digits, which would suggest there isn’t a lot of fear about any of the real long shot matchups cashing. Nevertheless, it’s interesting to see them on the board, right there for the gamblers, the dreamers and the diehards to take their shots.

  1. Seahawks are good. Ok we get it. But come on, its not like they are unstoppable.

  2. the colts? really? NE could have been playing with beach balls and still mowed them down, where did they improve exactly?

  3. Oh, won’t that just chap the Pats fans’ hides, watching the Colts roll to a super bowl victory while they missed the playoffs entirely.

    #31teamconspiracy

  4. A homeless person just told me to take Wash – Tenn.

That’s where the smart money will be.

    Right Cleveland?

  5. Okay, the Seahawks I could see, but the Colts???
I haven’t laughed that hard since Ryan Grigson gave up a first-round pick for Trent Richardson!

  6. jrs1972 Colts improve At
    Rb- Frank Gore
Wr- Andre Johnson/Phillip Dorsett/Duran Carter- NE has no corners to cover and won’t be able to Double up.

  7. Don’t be stupid enough to bet against a ANGRY Brady & Bill B….
The Colts Blow…. No D at all & if they are unlucky enough to play the Patriots in the Playoffs they will get DESTROYED

  8. Seattle? No. The last half their schedule last season they faced a majority of back-up QBs and in their first playoff game they faced a team with a losing record.

Seahawks won’t make it, got lucky to make it to this past Super Bowl, wouldn’t have if the Packers hadn’t imploded.

    Past two Super Bowls.

    Pay attention.

But I’m sure the team that’s gone to the last two, added JG and drafted Lockett, had the most injuries in the NFL last year and one of the youngest rosters have no chance.

    LOL.

  10. I think the five teams that ran the scoreboard up on the Colts non existant defense is having a good chuckle with that. They were lucky to beat Cleveland last year (who had no issues scoring 24 on them). I fully expect Ryan Grigson to be unemployed this time next year.

  11. Hahahahaha the colts and Seahawks in Super Bowl 50. The Seahawks can’t win it all unless the team is juiced outta their minds and the colts couldn’t stop a midget running the football with that d-line. The Vikings and bills have a better chance of reaching the big game

  12. I would love to see the Colts in a Super Bowl against the Seahawks.

But to be perfectly honest, I think the only way the Colts make the Super Bowl is if the Patriots choke early in the playoffs.

  13. What is the football IQ of these numbskulls? The Colts? Oh I get it. If the Pats did not deflate their balls, it’s the Super Bowl we would have had. The Patriots outscored the Colts 28-0 after the balls were re-inflated. Okay? Colts %$!$. The only reason Denver lost to them is because they couldn’t get motivated to play them. The Patriots have led by at least 3 TDs in each of their last 4 contests. If the Jets or Bills make the playoffs next year, the Jets or Bills will beat them. Get it? They %$@^.

  14. These are the stupidest posts I have read yet. Average age must be 10.

Yeah my team is better than yours. Why? Because yours sucks and mine doesn’t.

  15. Seahawks fans need to quit using injuries as an excuse for losing the SB, the Patriots had lots of injuries on their team, I wouldn’t put a lot of stock in Graham & certainly not Lockett, Seahawks have crap for receivers

  16. Colts improved their run D exactly how? Good luck with that. Pats have given the rest of the league the blueprint to stomp the whiney narcs into oblivion.

  17. We’ll be healthier next year in the secondary, plus every team will be gunning against the PATS, not against us. Plus the Colts are going to be loaded for revenge against the very-beatable Pats.

This year we seek redemption. Vegas has it about right.

  18. Colts didn’t improve themselves, they just got older. Not what you want to do with a young QB. Signing guys hoping they recapture their youth is folly, even more so to do it in multiple spots. If the Colts want to win with Luck they should keep their roster young and the cap healthy. This current coach and GM are making desperate moves to save their skin.

Seattle will be good and can repeat as NFC champs but the top two teams this coming year will be Dallas and Green Bay IMO.

  19. There isn’t a more overrated team in the AFC than Indi. I know lots of people here dislike the Seahawks, but you can’t deny they’re as talented as anyone.

Seahawks would grind them into the dirt. 42-17.

Another big win for Russell Wilson. Another coming up short for the seemingly perfect, never his fault for anything, Andrew Luck.

  20. The Colts? That D is pretty bad, I don’t see it happening. But then again they do play in that soft division and the NFL has been trying really hard to make that weirdo Luck a star for the past few years so…. (Insert conspiracy theory here)

  21. Those are the type of odds that Hollywood mob movies exploit when the wrong type of people create “accidents” for 30 starting quarterbacks. A few $100 bets later and they leave Vegas with millions headed of to some island.

Don’t count the Pats out. Lots of cheating still left in them.

    21 5
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Got that right…

The starting QB for the Pats for their first four games will be…

    #12

    “Garoppolo” in the #12 jersey…

Tom is practicing now with a dark visor on his face mask in preparation…

  23. Heelergirl…

It’s obvious you’ll never give the Seahawks credit for anything no matter what so I don’t know why I’m bothering but please…enlighten me as to how getting healthier, trading for the games most game breaking tight end (arguably) after already making back to back Super Bowls (and winning one whether you want to accept it or not)…all while not losing anyone of incredible value doesn’t keep them installed as a POTENTIAL Super Bowl favorite this year.

I’ll help: they’re still right there at the top. It isn’t opinion. It’s fact.

  24. Seahawks are still the team to beat in the NFC, but the Colts won’t make it till they fix their defense. Since the NBA, NHL, and MLB are still going on, this is all way premature as it is.

  25. The Cowboys beat the Colts by 40 last season without deflating footballs… so everybody is aware.

    ——————
The Packers quarterback threw two INTs that game (one to Sherman in the end zone), had fewer than 180 yards passing, had two opportunities from Seattle’s 1-yard line and took fields goals both times, and he finished with a passer rating of 55.8. One of the worst games of his career.

Imploded? Yeah, right around the time they came out of the tunnel…

  27. Did the Colts get a brand new defense this offseason I didn’t hear about?

  28. Before TB misses at least two games this season, he’ll be 38 years old. No doubt his over inflated ego drives his desire to play the game, but his body is breaking down as we speak. Say hello to Jimmy G, and if he can play a lick, we’ll not have to suffer the bloviating commentators calling the game slobbering all over themselves ever again. Suits me fine, I’ll always remember him as the dude that broke the unwritten rule about taking an injured guys job anyway.

  29. I know they want a nice rivalry going forward to milk for advertising money, but Luck hasn’t really proven he has what it takes. All he has at present is a large backing of talking heads who are still willing to overlook the fact that he hasn’t lived up to their airy praise.

    Facts are facts.
The biggest fact is that Butler made a great play to save the game for the Patriots.

Pats fumbling will suddenly return to pre-rule change levels and Pat fans will explain Belichcik is too busy to be worried about fumbles.

And when this doesn’t happen the crybabies will try and come up with another excuse as to why they are still winning.

But keep up the good fight little guy.

  32. You mean the Steelers aren’t favored to play against themselves? Shocking. Looks like the SFL will have to be put on hold for another year.

Umm where is that happening? Sure, we would have had a better shot without the injuries in XLIX but you play the guys you have.

The Pats won fair and square…..I THINK…mmm maybe, didnt they?

Pats fans need to find a different straw man to knock down. This one wont work.

  34. I love the Hawks and Wilson, but Wilson looks so tiny in that picture with Luck above. It reminds me of Will Smith and Carlton hanging out on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. Hahaha

  35. If the Colts are the AFC’s favorite that means the three teams most likely win it all reside in the NFC. The additions they have would have been a much bigger deal five years ago.

  36. Interesting, the Patriots need to beat the AFC East, the AFC, the NFL office in NY, the commissioner, the other 31 owners and their lawyers to make it back to the super bowl and they are still just behind the team, with the fist-pick-in-the-draft next anointed face of the NFL, that the NFL is doing its best to hand a super bowl berth.

Belichick and Brady beating the next Manning in blowout after blowout didn’t meet the commissioner’s script. So, more rule changes, pick forfeitures, and suspensions to stack the deck. I am surprised he didn’t just force a trade of Belichick to the Colts.

  37. It could happen. Pats got rid of their top 4 CBs and Colts added Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, and Philip Dorsett. The Colts will have to outscore their opponents, but they have a puncher’s chance against anyone in the AFC.

Against Seattle… I already watched the Seahawks dismantle Manning and the Broncos. I think a matchup with the Colts would be very similar to that. Probably a very bad football game. Seattle’s defense would smother the Colts and Marshawn Lynch and Russell Wilson would put up enough points to make it a comfortable laugher.

  38. I for one don’t care about what the odds are in MAY. Rosters aren’t finalized and injuries will happen in the preseason as they always do.

The Seahawks are a really good team but making it to the Super Bowl back it back is hard but getting 3 years in a row is really hard to do. Even as a Packers fan I would put them as the favorites in the NFC.

  39. Even with the inconsistent QB I’m surprised to see the Chicago team down there with the Redskins.

  40. I’m sorry, but unless Andrew Luck decides to try his hand at inside linebacker, the Colts aren’t going to the Super Bowl.

Phillip Dorsett hasn’t played a snap yet in this league and you have people listing him as a reason they’ll get to the big game. Please. They need another small wide receiver like they need a hole in the head. Dumb 1st round pick when you have so many defensive issues.

  41. I have no problem with the Colts as a team.. But they faced three good teams last year and got destroyed each time.. 2x vs the Patriots, the Cowboys and the Steelers.. If a team can’t stop the run and have the worst redzone defense in the league you can’t go to the Super Bowl.. In 2011 Brady took the 31st ranked defense to SB but what most people miss is that the 2011 Patriots redzone defense was money.. one of the best in the league.. If you can’t stop great teams from scoring you never make it..

  42. Oh yea, because nothing says Super Bowl like not being able to stop the run AT ALL, and not being able to run the ball AT ALL.

The Colts are a joke and Grigson should have been fired.

  44. I’m going to go out on a limb here and predict that the two teams in the Super Bowl next year will be teams that nobody expected to be in it.

And it won’t be – Packers, Patriots, Seahawks, Broncos or Colts.

    Everyone else is fair game.

    Let’s see who is right!

  45. Seattle will be good and can repeat as NFC champs but the top two teams this coming year will be Dallas and Green Bay IMO.

Actually, I’m banking on the Saints.

The pundits said the Saints couldn’t do it in 2009 either…they are built like the 2009 Saints were now.

I really have to laugh at the Patriot fans that continue this woe is me attitude and how the NFL is against you. Do you all understand that the NFL is the reason you started your dynasty? Tuck rule ring a bell? We all know that was a fumble and every single Patriot on the team including Brady knew that was a fumble. Get over yourselves!

  47. 32 teams yet most likely the Super Bowl will be a combination of 2 of these.

    AFC
    Pats/Colts/Broncos/Ravens

    NFC
    Packers/Seahawks/Cowboys

    mix and match from those.

I like the Packers in the NFC and the Colts in the AFC

  48. The Indianapolis Rats better think of a foolproof scandal to stop the Pats first. PSI everybody finds out won’t work. Brady beat the Jets with 16 psi Colts and Seahawks with whatever psi. On their good side, other teams may already have a head start if Brady is suspended.— The Patriots this year did not get big name players. They seem to have a weak roster this year even shedding some of their veteran, reliable players as opposed to their “rivals” which hired big guns. Seahawks will be there but the Colts, seriously? The Patriots has a weak roster, probably distracted by the sham scandal, probably without Brady for a few games, but lesson learned, never bet against the Patriots. They’re supposedly toast at the beginning of last year, in the midst of the Deflategate super storm they forged on and win the SB. I say the Seahawks and the Patriots because they’re the biggest SOB’s in the NFL. They fight and know how to win.— the Patriots win because they cheat blah, blah, blah. Putting the camera in the non-designated location and maybe a lost of a whiff of air from the balls make your own teams lose. No wonder. It takes nothing to make your teams perennial losers.

Still can’t stop the run… Besides, the Pats will destroy them for the season week five. Totally crush their spirit. Cause their coach and GM to lose their jobs and become a permanent hurdle in Lucks head.

  52. Remember when the Colts traded a first rounder for Trent Richardson?

Remember when the Colts traded Jerry Hughes for Kelvin Sheppard?

Remember when the Colts lucked into being the worst team in the league the same year the two most sure-fire QBs of that last couple decades came out of college?

Remember when the Colts got moved out of the AFC East just in time to avoid playing Brady and Belichick twice a year in their prime?

    Luckiest franchise in football.

It wasn’t said that injuries were an excuse to lose the SB… the comment was made that the Seahawks made the SB in spite of all the injuries. Big difference.

  54. Actually, my son makes his living going to Vegas and leaves tomorrow for a couple of weeks. I think I will have him place a wager on the Patriots for me.

Haters, let’s see you put your money where your mouth (keyboard) is.

  55. i think ital either be
    seahawks vs colts or maybe
green bay vs colts at super bowl 50 i could even see the ravens or broncos taking the AFC
i dont see dallas or the pats being in the super bowl dosen’t mean they wont make the playoffs tho but just saying dont get your hopes up pats fans and cowboy fans

  56. Because of all the people who hate the Redskins and Raiders, I think that would be a pretty entertaining Super Bowl.

  57. I could also see a Green Bay vs. Colts Super Bowl. Rodgers and Luck are the two best QBs, and those guys find ways to win. I think the Colts will be the most improved team, so I’m betting on them. Indy just has too many weapons, and this will be the third year in Pep Hamilton’s offensive system. Hamilton could re-write the record books.

  58. First who ever said the ravens will be a top four afc team your smoking crack. It will be the bengals and pats in the afc champ game and we will see from there.

  59. “Rodgers and Luck are the two best QBs”

Anyone who thinks Luck is a better quarterback than Brady just doesn’t understand the NFL game.

  60. Last I checked the Hawks have won the most games in the league the last two years, been to 2 straight SB’s. And all they did was improve all the positions that needed it. But all the sudden there the worst team in the NFL an aren’t gonna even make the playoffs. HaHaHaHa. Who is writing this sh*t, apparently no body that knows anything about football. The Seahawks are easy the odds on favorite to make it back and win SB 50. For all you haters out there just watch and suck it while we do it…….

  61. Winning in the NFL starts at the top. Sorry, Indy. Ain’t gonna happen.
