DeMarco Murray hopes Joseph Randle “can taste some of that meat this year”

Cowboys running back Joseph Randle shared his opinion about how much the Cowboys might miss running back DeMarco Murray this week by saying that he thought Murray “left a lot of meat on the bone” on his way to a league-leading 1,845 rushing yards in 2014.

That comment made its way to Murray on Thursday, but Murray didn’t fire back at Randle or try to make the case that he gnawed all the way down to the bone while carrying the ball the seventh-most times in league history last year. Instead, Murray wished Randle well in his opportunity to do a little feasting of his own behind the Cowboys offensive line.

“Hopefully he can taste some of that meat this year,” Murray said, via CSNPhilly.com. “They’re a good team. Hopefully he can get a chance to run behind that line and do some good things. But I’m not worried about it. I didn’t hear about it until now. It’s not a big deal.”

It’s a good response to Randle since Murray has no need to defend himself for his 2014 performance. His chief concern now should be making sure that he wasn’t worn down to the bone after being used so heavily last season because the Eagles will need Murray to play well to vault themselves above the Cowboys and the rest of the NFC East in 2015.

  1. Murry has got to be elated that he is no longer with the most dysfunctional organization in the NFL.

Hey Joe, there’s a reason why you were second fiddle to Murray last year.

  2. Murray will come down back to earth with the Eagles. 1100-1200 yards. No more.

  3. eagles still 0 superbowls in 50 years and have one of the worst qb situations in the history of a franchise known for having bad qbs

  4. When the cameras were off, Murray added while Randle might rush for 2,000 yds this season, he’s getting paid 17 bucks an hour.

  5. If Randle spent less time shoplifting and running his mouth, and spent more time working on his craft, perhaps his opinion would be more than a fart in the wind.

  6. Joseph “the panty raider” Randle is setting himself up to look very stupid. Isn’t number two still, anyway? If your behind Darren Mcfadden on the depth chart, you shoukd probably pipe down.

  7. Murray will come down back to earth with the Eagles. 1100-1200 yards. No more.

Not to mention he’ll have pry 100 less carries. Eagles have RB talent other than Murray. The Cowboys didn’t last year.

  8. Exactly. Murray running for 1200 is fine with Mathews running for 800 and Sproles running for a fww hundred. Plus, it will extend his career instead of just using him up like that pupper Jason Garret did.

  9. Murray will be the feature back of a comitee.. only reason he will have less yardage is he will have less carries.. We don’t need him to carry us like Dallas did.. We’ve got Sproles and Mathews too.

  10. Can’t blame Murray. He saw an opportunity to rape the desperate morons in Philly and took it. However, Randle rushes for combined 500 yards against the Eagles in two games this year and the only franchise in the NFC East who hasn’t won a Superbowl (Philidelphia Eagles) finish 5-11 leaving fans disappointed yet again.

  11. Isn’t there some old saying about how he who steals underwear and cologne should not cast stones?

    Well, there should be anyway.

  12. He was the AP offensive player of the year!

Randle, busted for shoplifting and marajuana, could be a good player and should probably not do too much talking…

  13. Exactly. Murray running for 1200 is fine with Mathews running for 800 and Sproles running for a fww hundred. Plus, it will extend his career instead of just using him up like that pupper Jason Garret did.

You mean doing the smart thing? Average RB last about 4 or 5 years if hes lucky. Garrett got the best of the tread off them tires while Philly is getting half tread on a busted car (the car referring to the Oline for those of those too dense).

If Philly gets 2000 yrds rushing as a team ill be shocked. Only about 7-10 teams a year, on the high side, cross that mark. They were close last year. But it doesnt matter anyway since they will be in the cellar duking it out with the Deadskins for the best draft pick in the East.

  14. You talk like Philly has a garbage O line.. lol Peters, Kelce, Johnson, Mathis.. 4 pro bowlers.. yeah, you did your homework.

  15. Some people don’t care that the company they work for is worthless. As long as they get paid. Can’t blame DeMarco. Now he can buy everything he wants. Except a Super Bowl. He is surely getting paid. But there is ” no way” the team he went to is better than the team he left. The philly fans and that team SUCK!!! In a sport like this, you can’t respect a team or a city that would celebrate a player being injured. “ANY PLAYER” Never knew why they called that city, ” The city of brotherly love”

  16. Murray bring class to a place that has no class and throws snowballs at Santa. Hated to see him leave. No offense, but I hope you suck this year!

  17. How can Philly fans talk smack? Can’t win a super bowl. Only team in NFC east that hasn’t! Maybe Philly fans and randle should just stop talking until they do something or have something good to talk about. Smh

  18. After hearing these two backs salivating over meat, Michael Sam pleads his case to re-join the Cowboys.

  19. Murray workes his tail off last season but he should have been well rested up for it with all his time being injured on the bench previously.

I bet he leaves a lot of spray tan in the can for Philly this year . If he does too good, Chip will trade him or cut him.

  20. Actually randall Is a very good running back he averaged more yards a carry then murray. He is faster finds the holes quicker and makes people pay with his speed somthing murray was incapable of doing the only reason he got 1800 yards was how many carries he had. Marshawn lynch with the cowboys would have broken nfl records by close to a 1000 yards. Randall has a chance at 2000 because of his speed trust me the cowboys are in a way better situation then the eagles

  21. They will need more than Murray to vault the Eagles past the Cowboys. Fumbles & injuries will be a big part of Murrays 1st year in philthadelphia

Firstly, it is spelled “Murray”. You may want to get that right – spelling is fundamental.

Secondly, “dysfunctional”? Really? I will take 5 SB victories and dysfunctional any day of the week versus ZERO SB’s in my team’s trophy case. Being a Philly fan is dysfunctional AND perpetually disappointing, ESPECIALLY when it comes to anything SB (see: McNabb puking at the SB – THAT was telling).

Thirdly, Murray scoffed at a 5 million per year offer from Dallas. That was his (and his agent’s) choice to get paid a little more in Philly, and I don’t blame him for the economics part. But he is now a traitor. He could have gone a lot of other places. Let’s see how his fumbling and injuries sit with Philly fans this year.

He is a class guy, but he is now the enemy. And as such, he will be treated that way.
