Brandon Spikes on Belichick: We kissed and made up

Linebacker Brandon Spikes’s first stint with the Patriots didn’t come to a happy end.

Spikes finished the 2013 season on injured reserve after he missed a practice and Spikes later said that the Patriots filed false injury reports while he was a member of the team. Spikes also referred to his time with the Patriots as “4 years a slave,” which only added to the surprise when Spikes wound up re-signing with the Patriots this month after spending last season with the Bills.

It’s less surprising that Spikes had nothing bad to say about coach Bill Belichick or the Patriots on Friday. Spikes referred to Belichick as a “genius” and described himself as “honestly in awe to be standing here talking” to the media as a member of the Patriots while sticking to the company line that the past will remain in the past.

“I don’t want to talk about that. You can clearly see me and The Hoodie kissed and made up. I’m here, that’s in the past. I’m moving on,” Spikes said, via WEEI.com.

Spikes said his only focus now is on making the team and his chances will be greatly improved if Belichick decides the team needs to shore up their run defense in 2015.

  1. As a close friend of the organization I would like to allude to the fact that the player personnel team (my peers) are happy to have Spikes back… In this stint, they know who he is/what he can bring whereas in the past they relied on his potential

  2. When asked for comment on how good a kisser Spikes is Coach Belichik said, “Kinda Scratchy. We’re gonna work on getting better. We’re on to Frenching.”

  3. Funny how one’s attitude changes when one has no job and no offers, as opposed to sitting in Buffalo with a new 3.5 mil contract. When Mayo and Hightower are 100%, it may still be ‘hit the bricks son’

  4. I see that blitzinc43 is the inside whatever for another team/place. You are definitely a troll for sure.

“This year when the Bills win the Super Bowl”
    ================================

Thanks for the laugh – this made my day; good one

  9. Wasn’t it gracious of Spikes to vacate his spot on the 2014-2015 roster do some other long suffering soul could win his one and only SB ring? LOL, I am a pats fan since inception!

  10. Weepingjebus

In the end, they all kiss the rings.

  11. Is it safe to say Michael Sam is no longer a story?

  12. After spending a season with the Bills, he wanted to return to a real organization. Makes sense.

  13. I hope young players read this and learn how to act with coaches and organizations. Never make any rifts public and never burn bridges. The league is full of players who boudmouthed teams but then found their phones silent near the end of their careers and still needed a job. Spikes going back to the team he bashed is the exception to the rule. Of course it helps to be very humble and apologetic as an employee. Teams will overlook antics only for so long (TO, Chad Johnson, Tiki, Moss, etc) before they’re cast to the curb.

Which means Belichick didn’t budge or spend a second on the subject and Spikes changed his attitude.

  15. Opponents just need to run a hurry up offence and keep this lead-foot on the field on third down. Easy first down or more.

  16. As a close friend of the organization, I can tell you that the Patriots cheat every chance they can, and are glad to have Spikes back and keeping his mouth shut about spy cameras, deflation, and other shady team business.

  17. Spikes and Belichick kissing….theres a picture I could have done with out. Who knew?

Why do you feel the need to come to this website and lie about being a “close friend of the organization”? This is at least the third team you’ve said this about and you even use the same language each time. Why are you lying to try to impress people you don’t know and will probably never meet on the internet? Please stop.
