Report: Chris Chester signs with Falcons

Free-agent guard Chris Chester had lined up visits with the Falcons and Eagles. And he won’t be taking those visits.

Via Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com, Chester has signed with the Falcons. It’s a one-year, $2.8 million contract.

Washington released Chester earlier this week. In Atlanta, he’ll be reunited with offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan.

Chester signed with Washington in 2011, after five seasons with the Ravens. He started all 64 regular-season games in four seasons with D.C.

  1. …so I guess he will play at LG since RG belongs to Jon Asamoah & newbie Mike Person & Harland Gunn need seasoning…

  2. he is the sole reason the Redskins have lost so many games, oh my god, but extremely wonderful human being.Remember…we are winning off the field.(Allen)

  3. Polumbus and Chester on the same line again….geez lol I’m sorry Atlanta. As a Redskins fan I pray your QB doesn’t get Sacked 58 like ours due to our poor right side that’s now yours. Well your running game will be better just don’t expect Matt Ryan to stay upright for most of the game. (insert whatever RG3 joke you got idc lol)

  4. I’m not really excited about all the Redskins Shanahan has brought with him. I thought the plan was to get away from mediocrity.

  5. This is exactly what the Shanahans did with the Skins that drove me crazy. They seem to fall in love with marginally-talented veteran guys and refuse to ever give young guys with potential a shot.

Even when some of these older guys would get injured (I know Chester hasn’t been injured), younger guys would come in, play much better, and then get immediately benched again in favor of the vet, even when the vet’s play was clearly worse.

    Have fun with that, Atlanta.

He should fit right in with the rest of the turnstile Falcon’s o-line.

Was enough the for the Falcons to sweep the scrub overrated Ain’ts last year.

  7. Say what you want and bash Chester, the Redskins and Falcons, but the fact is he was PFF ranked 33rd at his position and getting experienced help when you need it is golden. The OLine for the Skins was terrible, he was actually the 2nd highest ranked player! I wish my Dolphins signed him… We have a hole at RG and Chester is decent at Zone Block, he might not be a Pro-Bowler, but he is an upgrade for more than half the teams in the NFL. The numbers don’t lie.

…and you still lost more games. LMAO

  9. Chester started a lot of gamesfor the Redskins but I don’t see him as anything more than a depth played for the Atlanta team.

  10. Any fan of Atlanta better be nervous, if the Redskins cut an offensive linemen then you better take a long hard look at him
