Washington, NFL “aware of” alleged domestic violence incident involving Jamison Crowder

AP

Fourth-round pick Jamison Crowder has drawn some good reviews for his early practice work with the Redskins, but the rookie’s drawing some less positive attention on Thursday.

A Twitter user with the handle @TJMartinez21 took a screenshot from an Instagram page with the handle @j_crowder3 (Crowder wore No. 3 at Duke) on Wednesday night showing a woman with a cut lip and what appear to be bruises on her body accompanied by a long caption that appears to be written by the woman in the picture. It reads, in part, that she has “been choked, had a concussion, bruised, busted lips, grabbed, tossed around, hair pulled, verbally abused” by “Jamison” and that “‘Love’ is never an excuse or a reason.”

The Instagram post does not appear on the account, but the Redskins have issued a response. Alex Marvez of FOX Sports shared a statement from the team on Thursday afternoon.

“The Washington Redskins are aware of an off-field situation involving Jamison Crowder. We have been in touch with the NFL office and will continue to follow proper League protocol and assist them in any way we can to gather all of the facts. We will not be making any further comment at this time.”

The NFL also issued a statement via Marvez.

“The team has been in touch with our office and we are looking into the matter.”

Crowder hasn’t issued a response of his own and there will surely be more to come as the circumstances around the post are investigated.

  1. Do all the football guys know that if they deal physically with anyone off the field that they will probably lose their incomes / freedom ??

  2. Goodell has placed such great emphasis on 0.5 psi & Brady that the rest of the school kids are running amok at home and in the streets.

Back to Business as Usual with the NFL.

  3. Cut him posthaste.
No pay, no benefits, sue him for any monies already paid to him.

I am SO tired of idiots like this making the employer look bad due to their own stupid actions.

This kid is COLLEGE educated, therefore he KNOWS right from wrong. He chose wrong.

Do NOT blame the Redskins, the NFL, or Roger Goodell for this. Blame the player, his family, his agent, and his union.

Players will NEVER learn unless harsh and swift consequences occur. That is why he MUST be cut immediately and banned from the NFL for at least 1 year.

  4. Before the last 3 weeks I associated the New England area as one of the more educated geographic regions of the country, along with NYC, and Washington DC.

You Pats fans continue to prove me wrong

  5. Definitely BLAME Goodell, at least where he is responsible as Commish.

He made it Loud & Clear that 0.5 psi is more Grievous & Disturbing then Smash Mouth Football on your wife, hooker, stranger, dog etc…

  6. Wow. Just wow. How many players have seen other players get arrested and punished and yet still find a way to put themselves in that situation?

  7. not a Skins fan, but willing to wait for more than a somewhat anonymous twitter post of a screenshot from instagram to make the leap the rest of you have.

  8. From Duke, no less. That’s not an easy college to get into whether you play sports or not so they have to be wondering right now how this guy got in and what did they do to mold him in the 4 years he spent there.

  9. Wake up Goodell. You are the Commish. These lame brain athletes don’t get it.

One strike and C U BYE.

There are good athletes, with good characters that can take their spot.

  10. I love my Skins, and I was really excited about the Crowder reports coming out of OTAs, but we have enough baggage.

If this guy is really guilty, sever the wicked hand and get better people. We’re a terrible team anyway. What does it matter? Hail to the Redskins.

  11. Headline states that Goodell is “AWARE” of Domestic Violence in the NFL.

According to Well$, Goodell is “AWARE” and thusly = “More Probably then Not – GUILTY”.

  12. Maybe she hit him first? Really? You’re a poor excuse for a man.

  13. I know why deflate gate was so big now. White guy finally does something guilty in NFL so it has to blow up so big to put these domestic violence cases in the shadows.

  14. If it’s on the Internet it’s as true as the Gospel, right?….
Duke lacrosse case, Atlanta Olympics bomber, Darren Wilson, etc etc….
let’s wait till the investigation is done before we pass judgment…. A picture on the Internet does not mean he did everything that you imagine based on that picture.
Just the same most kids don’t have that stuff happening to them

  15. There is a rumor going around that his Ex girlfriend hacked his account and posted the pictures of herself there.Let’s see how this plays out before we make any rush judgement . Is that too hard to do?

  16. Exempt list until an investigation is completed. We’ll assume guilt until he’s proven innocent which is the nations way.

  17. The only ones that care about DV are nimrods with nothing to do but vent about something that doesnt affect them and the league only because they take heat for it.

I dont care about anything except whats on the field.

Let the legal system and the 2 individuals involved handle it. Its no ones business but the 2 individuals involved and the court system if the female wants to press charges.

How many of u actually give a rats behind about the Ray Rice situation. If she still married him, then she must be ok with him, then so should the league.

Our society has become nothing but a bunch of pinheads worrying about something that has zero to do with football, and internet rage.

He hasn’t been fired yet. That’s the official judgement and there’s been no rush.

I don’t have a problem with people rushing to condemn the concept of domestic violence. Get on the bandwagon. Denounce it. I’m still amazed by the number of people who seem to be tolerant of it.

I also like the idea of using every possible opportunity to remind everyone, athletes and fans, that this cannot and will not be tolerated. This is a cultural change that needs to happen sooner rather than later.

  19. I laugh at the idiots proclaiming this guy as guilty when there is ZERO EVIDENCE he did anything. What a stupid species if this is what it has come to where a website can post something and people instantly rush to some conclusion and trash the person.

As has been stated in the comments, the agent says his account was allegedly hacked/accessed by the ex girlfriend and this is nothing but her trying to hurt him. Now if that is true are all the idiots proclaiming him to be a serial woman abuser going to change their tune? Doubt it!

I obviously have no idea what the truth in this is but I do know women can indeed lie! I realize that is hard for all you white knight pussified chumps out there but it is indeed true. Women are not saints simply because they have vaginas you morons revolve your life around.

As to the moron who implied a man isn’t a man if he hits a woman after she hits him first. So if someone like Gina Carano or a woman who is specialized in martial arts or any type of combat hits a guy the guy should just sit there and take it because she has a vagina? Brilliant! So all the white knights out there think that a woman should have free will to hit a man and the man should do nothing but take it. The stupidity is incredible.

I’ve never hit a woman but I can say that if a woman ever punched or hit me in the face or balls that I would do something in response just like I would if a man did the EXACT same thing to me. If women want to be treated equally then be prepared to get hit if you hit a man. Your vagina doesn’t give you the go ahead to hit men.

  20. I’m not a big supporter of calling any one team’s fans classless as I don’t believe in judging a group of people based on the actions of a few, but the specific Patriot’s fans that continue to post on articles about domestic violence to air out their grievances really are some low class individuals.

Domestic violence is a significant issue and the NFL has been placed squarely in the spotlight and it is something that they have to lead by example in getting this right. I don’t know if Brady cheated and I don’t care, but I do know that his suspension and legacy pale in comparison to this issue and it is very unfortunate that there are some out there that are using this problem as a platform to push their agenda.

  21. I guess those “no more” commercials are not effective. Who knew? Everybody not involved with making them.

  22. Yeah, lets throw the guy to the wolves based on zero facts and an internet post. How would any of you feel if you were innocent and people were doing this to you? Wait for the facts. The idiot above who says it’s OK to rush to judgement in cases of domestic ciolence is beyond help. It’s NEVER ok to rush to judgements with no facts. This young mans life and career could be ruined and he very well may be innocent.

  23. Fatsolio you’re the moron.. Let me guess, a fat beer belly hillbilly.

  24. Hang in there fatsolio, maybe one of these days you’lll actually see a vagina 🙂

  25. Maybe the NFL should have a day where the players could line up on the field with their wives or girlfriends, and they just could pop them on the kisser. You know, synchronized spousal abuse.
Who knows? Maybe the ratings would be so good, they’d incorporate it into all half time shows.
This would help them get it out of their systems and help us all understand the NFL’s “integrity” better.

Seriously, the NFL has taken a big hit this off season with all the jerks who have gotten into trouble. It proves that the NFL has more than its share of bad guys in it.

  26. @tnt66 @fatsolio

Weren’t you guys bashing the Patriots as cheaters with even less evidence?

Seems a bit hypocritical to defend such garbage now doesn’t it.

  27. There is a new update there has been no records of any DV involving involving Jamison Crowder in Loudoun County where the Redskins train year around.

  28. This is getting strange. Crowder has yet to be charged with a crime, or even formally accused. If this story has legs, it should find them some time in the next few days.

Why? Because pats fans will actually sit down and read a 240 page report (and all of it’s footnotes), rather than read the headlines made by those who did NOT read the report? Don’t confuse angry with uneducated.

Wells wrote the report just for people like you, who would not read past pg 6. If there were true due process, there would be no discipline at all.

  33. worst org in the nfl hands down………my team will be winning 5th SB….how bout those cowboys!!!!

Unfortunately, there is still probably a lot that goes unreported, so your assertion may not be true. A wife may be even more reluctant to report if she knows the hammer will come down so heavily on him. No-win situation.

  35. Okay, I am going to put on my shrink hat for a bit. These people, and by that I mean domestic abusers, would make both themselves and everyone else happier and safer if they could admit that the person they are really angry at is themselves, and that they are filled with unreconciled self loathing.

  36. The team name is REDSKINS.
Never OK to hit a woman, if she has a concussion there will be some medical report. I will wait to read more before tossing Crowder under the Bandwagon.

This post makes me chuckle. You have to be kidding. I raised 5 kids and a few came home from college talking all this liberal, communist b.s., ya know the feel-good, unfactual crap you read in the white house media daily. I had to jack 2 of em up and tell em if they want to keep going to school on any of my money, they better get grounded back to the way they were raised, and leave the university professor propaganda at the door. They calmed down. Many colleges are indoctrination centers. Family is what matters. Colleges don’t raise your kids. You do.

  38. I’m, “Rick James Bi*ch”!!! Unityyyyy, It’s cold blooded.

All I can think about is the commercial all the NFL players did about this. When does it stop????

  39. Why is everyone so quick to assume this guy is guilty? Do you really think if this was true he would post a picture like that on his Instagram for the world to see? He was either hacked, or he’s dumber than a bucket of shrimp.
