Bruce Arians: Talking about suspended Daryl Washington’s “a waste of breath”

Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington’s suspension could have ended as soon as a week ago.

But if the Cardinals are in a hurry to get him back, it’s hard to tell.

I don’t lose one minute’s sleep or even think about it,” coach Bruce Arians said, via Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic. “Until he becomes a Cardinal again, it’s a waste of breath.”

Washington was suspended for at least a year by the NFL for multiple violations of the substance abuse policy, and he could have applied for reinstatement 60 days prior to the anniversary. In early April, his agent said the application was going to be filed “within the next week or so,” but declined comment this week when asked about it. Commissioner Roger Goodell has 60 days to render a decision once he receives the application, but the league didn’t comment on whether they have or not.

Washington could also be facing another suspension for violating the personal conduct policy, after pleading guilty to assaulting a former girlfriend.

But at the moment, the Cardinals don’t seem particularly worried about it.
