Ray McDonald’s defamation suit against rape accuser dismissed

Ray McDonald has been juggling multiple legal matters as a result of accusations of domestic violence and sexual assault, but one of McDonald’s cases has now been dismissed.

McDonald filed a defamation suit against a woman who accused him of rape, but a judge threw that case out on Monday.

The dismissal of the case has nothing to do with whether the woman was lying or telling the truth when she said McDonald raped her. Instead, the judge ruled that McDonald had produced no admissible evidence that the woman had told anyone other than the police that McDonald raped her, and statements to police are protected from defamation cases.

The woman is suing McDonald and alleging assault and battery, negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and false imprisonment. That suit continues.

McDonald played for the 49ers at the time of the alleged sexual assault, and the team cut him after the accusation came to light. He was then signed by the Bears but released when he was accused of domestic violence by the mother of his baby.

  1. What a sad career ending for someone who could have been great. I hope he will wake up and turn it around to be a great contributor to the society. I just hope.

  2. Ray, I would suggest the next time hiring legal representation that doesn’t have a business card that reads”Attorney and bartending services”

  3. Back when this case was filed:

Lawyer 1: ” I got that idiot to pay me 10k to file a defamation case.”

    Lawyer 2: ” lol That’s hilarious. You’re buying dinner right ?”

  4. How stupid are these players. They reach the top of their sport, their dream careers. They know their time at the top is very limited and yet they can’t seem to behave properly for a few years.

  5. What a sorry excuse for a human being. Looks like the Bears really looked “hard” into this clown before signing him. Good character judgement there.

  6. Not a good few weeks for Ray. You get the feeling he hasn’t reached rock bottom yet – and that when he does, it will be spectacularly ugly.

  7. “Lawyer 1: ” I got that idiot to pay me 10k to file a defamation case.”

    “Lawyer 2: ” lol That’s hilarious. You’re buying dinner right ?”

Lawyer 2: Shouldn’t you have told him the truth about the lack of admissible evidence that the woman had told anyone other than the police about the sexual assault and his lawsuit will be thrown out by the judge?
Lawyer 1: What? and lose 10 grand, are you nuts!

  8. It’s not defamation if it’s true.

This guy is ringing up charges of violence against women like you and I change socks.

Ray McDonald is gonna end up working in McDonalds.

What makes you think he’d get past the background screening?

  10. Speaking from experience…Goodell has opened up NFL players to gold-diggers. And if you go after the gold-diggers for lying – good luck with that.

  11. I used to work at a burger spot in Santa Clara and this guy along with gore Vernon and other would show up, have a bite and have a few beers, but this guy would alwaaayys get wasted. Couldn’t just toss back a few, he had to get wasted! Hope he finds the help he NEEDS

  12. The fact that these idiots get to the pinnacle, making millions, and still can’t behave in a civil manner really says something.

  13. Not a 9er, please stop trying to define a team by the trash they kicked to the curb. My ex-wife does not define me.

What about Aldon Smith? Does he “define” the 49ers?

You can define a team by the trash they keep on the team though huh?………

    Santa Clara fans…They’re funny

    Best Regards

  15. No doubt he is a piece of work. But if a woman accuses you of rape thorough official channels and you get arrested and charged, it gets in the news, you might get fired, and if she is lying, she is not held accountable. So if a person accuses you and it’s a lie and you get fired for it, that person is off the hook?

I noticed she is still pursing her suit but rape is out of the equations. Something is not right. Hate the guy because he’s an idiot, but this is bad precedence.

  16. McDonald is a joke, but NFL players in general should be worried. It only takes an accusation in today’s NFL to be discredited in the media and deemed guilty in the court of public opinion. Don’t make any enemies.

  17. Let’s just hope he admits he has a problem and gets the help he needs. It’s goes without saying he has super football talent. He is still young and can turn it around if he really wants ton hope he does.

  18. It sounds as if the defamation suit was just a PR move to lash out against the accuser. The conservatives who instantly think women are lying or “have regrets” ate this up and said, “see, she’s lying if Ray is counter suing her!”. Remember all the lawsuits Lance Armstrong filed against his accusers who said he was cheating? It was all a PR move to protect his cheating ways.
