Eagles tackle Jason Peters says running back DeMarco Murray will have even more success this season than last season, because he’s playing behind a better offensive line.
Although Murray led the NFL in rushing last season behind what was widely regarded as the best offensive line in the NFL in Dallas, Peters says now that Murray is with the Eagles, he’s running behind an even better offensive line.
“He was the rushing champ last year. He almost broke the record. For him to come here and not duplicate that, that would discredit us a little bit with the Dallas offensive line. We’ve got to make sure he gets his yards,” Peters said. “That’s a big challenge. The Dallas offensive line is good. We’re just better. We’re going to make sure he gets his yards.”
Peters made those comments before the Eagles cut Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis. But even before Mathis was cut, few would agree with Peters. Murray deserves credit for the season he had last year, but the Cowboys’ offensive line deserves a lot of the credit as well. And it’s hard to believe Murray will lead the league in rushing again this year in Philadelphia.
