Jason Peters: Eagles’ offensive line is better than Cowboys’ offensive line

Getty Images

Eagles tackle Jason Peters says running back DeMarco Murray will have even more success this season than last season, because he’s playing behind a better offensive line.

Although Murray led the NFL in rushing last season behind what was widely regarded as the best offensive line in the NFL in Dallas, Peters says now that Murray is with the Eagles, he’s running behind an even better offensive line.

“He was the rushing champ last year. He almost broke the record. For him to come here and not duplicate that, that would discredit us a little bit with the Dallas offensive line. We’ve got to make sure he gets his yards,” Peters said. “That’s a big challenge. The Dallas offensive line is good. We’re just better. We’re going to make sure he gets his yards.”

Peters made those comments before the Eagles cut Pro Bowl guard Evan Mathis. But even before Mathis was cut, few would agree with Peters. Murray deserves credit for the season he had last year, but the Cowboys’ offensive line deserves a lot of the credit as well. And it’s hard to believe Murray will lead the league in rushing again this year in Philadelphia.

  1. Ravens probably have a better Oline than both, and are quietly putting together a young top-3 roster.

  2. Um, because when healthy, they WERE? For all the hype, Philly dominated the Dallas D Line when they met in Arlington. And they were held to 10.

  3. If the Eagles could play football as well as they run their mouths they’d be a dynasty by now. They’re quickly becoming my new favorite team to hate. Move over, asterisks!

  4. Cause they’re the Dream Team. Nobody is better … ever. And bragging … that what they do best. Winners of the pre-season 10 years running.

  5. When asked about Evans’s hiatus he mentioned that even if Mathis did come back he wasn’t sure he would start anyway

  6. Peters will show his gratitude to Murray, and then hold out for a better contract, and demand to be traded just like he did when he was a converted tight end from the practice squad from Buffalo

  7. That’s not going to happen. Murray will not get the carries he got in Dallas. The only way to judge Murray is on yards per carry, not the amount of overall yards.

I think he can have a better year in that regard with this Eagles offense.

  8. Lets see, holes on the OL, no WR who can stretch the field, No QB…..Murray will be on IR by week 8

  9. The Eagles have 3 offensive lineman that are as good as the best and better than the rest. Center, both tackles. The guard play will determine just how good this offensive line is.

  10. To say the eagles offensive line is better than Dallas because they dominated the Dallas defensive line makes no sense. That is like saying apples are better than oranges because the apples are not orange. The two do not correlate, but then again, eagles fans are not that bright anyway. The Dallas defensive line sucked the past two years, a high school team could have dominated.

  11. Dez helped the running game in Dallas. Eagles? No comparison.

They could have the best OLine, but they need balance to be as successful.

  12. Murray had one good year and suddenly people think he is the greatest. Injury prone, fumble prone, runs out of bounds most of the time, not much speed,, 29 y/o with a heavy five year contract. If he was so good he would have had great years every year, not just one. Good luck with all that 🙂

  13. Peters is good but is not better that Tyron smith. Smith is stronger, faster, longer and younger. And Fredrick was the #1 running center in the nfl both his years in the league. The eagles with Mathis on the roster was about to field the oldest average ages line in the league. Our line other than free, is all under 25.

  14. Not a Cowboys fan in the least bit, but Smith/Martin/Frederick is easily the best O-Line Trio in the NFL right now.

  15. Only reason cowboys won a game vs Eagles last year is because dez was lined up against Bradley fletcher. The running game was a non factor.

Remember this was after Dallas Played a late Sunday night road game, didnt get back to Dallas until the next day and had to play three days later, So what happen three weeks later in Philadelphia when we had an even playing field ?

  17. SDoes it matter? The rest of their team is horrible. They have no quarterback and no receivers. They aren’t going to convert and 3rd and anything more than 3. I have trouble seeing this team being better than the Giants, let alone Dallas.

  18. Sure they are. Better at giving up sacks. Better at ushering QB’s to the IR. Better at “pushing the pile 2 feet”.

    Way better.

  19. @ justintuckrule says:

“Eagles – winning off-season titles of all types since 1960.”

The one and only time I think I have ever agreed with you.

  20. Officialgame is as dumb as Jason Peters.. I’m a Packer fan and can easily admit Dallas has the best line in the league.
As for officialgame’s comment, only Philly’s RT is better and just barely.

  21. I like it! This is football the way it should be. The gauntlet has been thrown down, now get it done!

  22. Murray had a great year but was 260 yards short of the record. That’s not “almost” Mr. Peters…that’s like 2 really good games away…

  23. Philly’s D line dominated the vaunted Dallas O line twice last year.. Cedric Thornton called them out then backed it up.. Dallas cried they had a short week.. but we did that week too.. Our D line made that line look silly.. go back and watch

  24. The Cowboys had a fluke season, they will not have the same success as last season. Losing Demarco and keeping crybaby dez is the worst decision of the year. Cowboys are not scaring anyone.

  25. I feel like the eagles runningback led the NFL in rushing the year before when the Eagles OL was healthy… And the reason I feel that way is because it’s a fact… so it’s hard to say ‘it’s hard to believe’ that Murray can lead the NFL this yr.

Romo threw it up to Dez who we foolishly covered man-up with fletcher and Sanchez threw some horrible INT’s and the Boys won in far less convincing fashion than you seem to be banking on for your point to land?

  27. The Eagles starting 5 offensive linemen lost a total of 34 accumulative games last year. Yes Injury’s happen but this definitely helps Peters argument.

  28. These filthadelphia players are delusional, and so are their fans…to say that he’ll have more success is hilarious! Pretty sure filthy just lost their 2 time pro bowl left guard…and pretty sure that they are not stacked with PROVEN dominant WR’s…pretty sure that Sam Bradford is going to finish maybe six games this year(reported hobbling at the end of OTA’S yesterday)….pretty sure that filthy has the oldest line in the league with ZERO depth….sorry filthadelphia but you just do not have even close to the talent as DEM BOYS!! Murray will not even come close to what he did last year…enjoy the 8-8 season if your lucky…

  29. Funny how I mentioned a FACT about Peters just getting a big contact from the Eagles last season yet 3 people disliked it. How do you dislike a fact, it wasn’t even an opinion. I could understand disliking an opinion. Had to be Dallas fans.

  30. I’m a Philly fan and even I can’t say that with a straight face. D-Line, sure I’ll say Philly is better but Philly’s O-Line scares me more than the secondary with the two guards, Herremans and Mathis, both being gone this year.

  31. Pittsburgh had the steel curtain. Get ready for the aluminum shutter. Philly’s offensive line will not be making many holes for any of their running backs.

The Dallas O-line was awesome last year. In fact they were ranked #2 in blocking last year. Any idea who was ranked #1?
    ——————————————————-

    Ooooo I know! I know!

Reading and knowing stuff before yapping about it is fun. Go Eagles.

  33. Hey Bertier, you’re right about last year, the running game was a non factor against the Eagles. Good luck with that very same RB who was a non factor.

  34. Wolfies30: Eagles top rated run blocking line even with all the injuries and the starting right tackle missing the first 4 games. Dallas was better pass blocking but it could be because they didn’t throw as much (150 times less than Philly) thanks to Murray’s effectiveness. I’m not sure you can call Philly’s line aging anymore because it’s only Peters in his 30s now I believe but if they are healthy they can overall be as good as or (a slim chance) better. Barbre is more of a guard than tackle and will be between Peters and Kelce. The right guard is the wildcard for Philly. As he goes the offense will go.

  35. Jretch, how can you say no depth? They had 3-4 reserves play significant time last year and the best reserve was injured yet they were ranked higher than Dallas in run blocking. Dallas fans are so blinded by the star on the helmet that they can’t do simple research on the internet.

  36. Wow! He must be joking…..not a fan of either team…. But my oh my….Dallas a million times better. When Peters played for the Bills , he was good…not great….guess what? He is still good with Eagles, not great. How he makes the Pro Bowl, I will never have any idea. He must be paying off people. As a Pro Bowler, he gives up more sacks than any player in NFL history that ever made it to the Pro Bowl! Overrated big time!

  37. We wouldn’t even being having this debate if it were not for the following: 1. Eagles offensive line was playing a backup for significant games at every position except left tackle. 2. HERE IS THE GIGANTIC OVERSIGHT: The Eagles offense line STILL was THE # 1 rated offensive line rushing the ball in all of the NFL PER pro Football Focus. 3. The Eagles destroyed The Cowboys on Thanksgiving Day! They demoralized the Cowboys Their owner and their fans. 4. The Eagles were 9 & 3 yet they lost their starting QB in week 8. The Eagles were 6 & 2 at that time. Foles DID NOT PLAY AGain THE REST OF THE SEASON! ( Could you imagine how bad the Cowboys would have been or will be if Romo got hurt or gets hurt after 8 games? They would have ended up with 7 or 8 wins and that is being generous. 5. Watch the Cowboy running backs this year. Suddenly the overhyped line and team are coming back to reality. LAST BUT NOT LEAST THE COWBOYS VERSUS THE LIONS GAME WAS FIXED. CALL IT WHAT YOU WILL I HAVE BEVER SERN IN 50 yrs of watching a flagged picked up with ZERO EXPLANATION ON THE MOST BLATANT PASS INTERFERENCE CALL EVER. JJ HAD THE HEAD REFEREE ON THE COWBOYS PARTY BUS BEFORE THE GAME. THE COWBOYS SEASON WAS OVER RIGHT THEN AND THERE!!! Prior to last year the Cowboys have not been relevant since 1993/94. The last century!!!!!

  38. Before or after the release of Mathis?
Dallas has the best offensive line. Period

  39. they were graded #1 (eagles) by pff but upon further review and a detailed review of the line and categories they were RANKED 29th in the league nd cowboys #1 by Football Outsiders .. pretty in depth review too… and it goes more with what our own eyes witnessed last year … Eagles were not very good at the line of scrimmage when running the ball in fact for %40 of the season they couldnt run for their life and struggled most of the year to actually get runs that mattered when they needed them. the whole GRADING by PFF is completely overrated and misunderstood by Eagles fans who have used it as a talking point since they found out.. unfortunately those with eyeballs and any sense of football IQ realize the Eagles were nowhere near the top when it came to dominating with a run game or establishing the line of scrimmage week in and week out with their line ! good talking point though… but to have a straight face and try to tel someone with any sort of football IQ or eyeballs who watched the games last year that the EAGLES O-LINE is even in the same hemisphere as the Cowboys ,,,, is insulting to say the least

  40. You eagles fans got to be kidding do the eagles have a good o line yes they are a B o line but dallas has better starters and better depth cmon tyron smith zack martin travis fredrick and leary and free are above average also and then add la el collins omg now your talking about a potential starting line of smith leary fredrick martin and collins wow hands down number 1 o line in da nfl period !!!

  41. Hey Eagles….. Go out and win a championship and then maybe you can brag about your team…. until then continue to sound stupid……

  42. Technically, before the release of Mathis, Pro Football Focus would have agreed. I personally do not (despite being an Eagles fan), especially following the loss of Mathis. With two unproven guards this year, expect a lot of sweeps and tosses…

  43. 1st in run blocking? That’s amazing, how were they with pass blocking ? Or penalties (27th)?… just listen to those crickets.

Maybe instead of taking shots at Dallas, Philly fans should stick to what they’re good at: parking lot brawls, binge drinking, and throwing batteries.

  44. wolfies30 says:

The Dallas O-line was awesome last year. In fact they were ranked #2 in blocking last year. Any idea who was ranked #1?
    =====================================

According to respected Pro Football Focus, Dallas was #1 and Philly #29.

  45. Who won the division last year? And whose O line, receiving corps and QB situation is still intact? Not Philly for either. Who cares what Peters said? What’s he suppose to say? He gave the right answer IMO given that he plays for Philly and they did just sign the leading rusher from last year. Key words though being LAST YEAR. And it was in Dallas that he did it. Talk is great but now they have to back it up.

  46. Ok bets on. Murray led the league the league last year. Let’s see how he does this year.

  47. Yeah, their QB and coach is better too. Plus, they will win the east, the NFC and the Super Bowl. Again. …sigh

  48. As a Dallas fan, I don’t care if Eagles line is ranked 1 or 2, nor do I care if Dallas is ranked 1 or 2. I care about results.

Murray wont get the obscene amount of touches in Philly that he did last year in Dallas. I also don’t think he is suited for Chips high speed offense. I DO think his YPC will probably go up slightly (bound to happen w less carries), but his overall yardage will decrease.

I don’t think it will really matter however, bc Dallas is probably gonna win the division

  49. good luck with the QB and WR situation. If your guard situation isnt good then Sanchez will have pressure in their face all day long.. But keep talking. That is what you do best… Other than that not much else.

  50. The cowboys starting line goes to work let’s there play do the talking, and this fool in philly talking smack , YOU HAVE NEVER WON A SUPERBOWL…..lol eagles are the champs every summer and for all you philly fans u all said murry sucked last year u and the media did not care for murry now he is irreplaceable…. Lol

  51. Murray for 3 yards, Murray runs into the backs of his Offendive Linemen, Murray plunges for 2 yards, Murray fumbles, Murray is being helped off the field…..that’s what you’ll be hearing this season. Dallas OL is better, don’t be foolish.

  52. Funny how Bennie Logan said the same thing last year. Then all the commenters said whose Bennie Logan? He must be on drugs…

Then Bennie and Cox dominated Dallas’s line on turkey day. Murray never rushed well against the Eagles and the stats show that.

  53. He will not lead the NFL in rushing this year because of THREE WORDS.

    Adrian
    Is
    Back

  54. Not a fan of either team, but IMO, the Dallas Cowboys have the best O-line in football.

  55. @ wolfies30 says:

“The Dallas O-line was awesome last year. In fact they were ranked #2 in blocking last year. Any idea who was ranked #1?”

Yes, we all know who was #1 last year. Having said that, the more important question is this: How did that work out for ya?

I recall a 2-3 finish last year when it counted. A choke job extraordinaire by Kelly and company.

And lastly, it was Dallas who finished #1 OVERALL on the O-line for rushing and pass blocking. The Cowboys also recently got better by adding Collins, and the Eagles didn’t by cutting Mathis.

Another Philly fan beating his chest over what happened in the regular season, while the better teams advance to where it actually counts.

  56. Guys. ..calm down. What else is a professional athlete SUSPOSED to say? !

Ummm…I think we are the 14th best line?!? Lol.

He said it. The fun is in watching them try and prove it.

  57. Wolfies, c’mon man, you guys didn’t even make the playoffs. You wonder why everyone hates the Eagles? It is because they are “all” talk and “no” walk. Wait until you do something before you start acting like a fool.

  58. Fact: no running back in the history of the league has every touched the ball 390+ time and ever come back the next season and gain 1000 yards. Eagles I hope you realize that last season (CONTRACT YEAR) was the only season Murray ever had a healthy season( still broke his hand). Man didn’t do anything like that in his previous seasons with the cowboys. Draft Z Martin. O line comes together, contact year, man he was running through holes you could send a truck through. And he still lead the league for fumbling for a rb. We wore that man into the ground. I would be the doesn’t play every game next season. Plus he doesn’t NEARY have the weapons around him like he had last season.

  59. For all of you confused Eagles fans, just take a look at the NFC East Standings, and who made the playoffs and who didn’t. If you are going to compare yourselves to the Cowboys, that is the “only” comparison that truly matters. Bottom line…..talk is cheap, you had your chance to deliver on the field, and you didn’t.

  60. Um, because when healthy, they WERE? For all the hype, Philly dominated the Dallas D Line when they met in Arlington. And they were held to 10.

    ——————

Let’s not pretend Dallas had any sort of respectable D-line last year when Jeremy Mincey was the only good player on it. This year will be a much better unit with how lucky they got in the draft + a player that missed the first 10 weeks with a broken foot (Demarcus Lawrence). Hardy will be back week 3 so he won’t see the Eagles until later in the season, that will be the true test. If Dallas can knock off the Eagles later in the season I believe they’ll win the division like last year.

  61. As an Eagles fan I think he needs to be drug tested and have his eyesight checked. Don’t think he will be getting a job as a scout after he retires.

Eagles fans are fun. As often as you clowns lean on football outsider stats, I’d think you’d learn to understand them. Eagles were #1 on running 1-2 yards on 3rd or 4th down, and includes QB draws (leaning on PHI young QBs to pad stats). That is the only category they were #1 in. Cows were #4 there, despite having a back-fused old QB. Eagles, though, were near the bottom at #26 in stuffed runs (Cows were #11) and lower than the Cows in 2nd level yards as well. This indicates inconsistency in OL play and very little push/athleticism after initial blocking contact. So, go learn how to read stats and as you say “know stuff” before acting high and mighty like your mouthy players.

    ************************************************
awm7353 does have a point (age notwithstanding). Up until last year, DeMarco was viewed as a dissappointment. Costly fumbles, lack of breakaway speed and injuries were the main factor in letting him walk, in my opinion. Hard to trust a player whose breakout year also happens to be his contract year. That being said, Eagles do have a solid O line; Kelly’s scheme of ‘widening’ the field should create alot of lanes for DeMarco to run thru.

  64. Lets be honest here:

    All Pro Center
    All Pro LT
    Future All Pro RT

You’ve got the middle and the ends.

It IS much easier to fill the inside positions when you have anchors like that.

  65. well, Im glad the Eagles have another title to put in their Super Bowl trophy case The rest of the NFCE uses theirs to keep their Lombardi trophies in.

  66. A lot of disrespect directed at a line that was 10-6 despite injuries and suspensions – the same line that, when healthy, helped LeSean McCoy to the rushing title.

  67. yeah but ya still don’t have a QB that can make the throws when the game is on the line

  68. WITH ADRIAN PLAYING IT DOESN’T MATTER WHAT LINE MURRAY IS RUNNING BEHIND HE WON’T BE THE RUSHING CHAMP WE ALL DAY KNOW WHO THAT WILL BE

  69. Eagles fans want to point out to the one game they beat Dallas last year. Yeah, they did beat Dallas in one of the two games last year.

But Dallas won the second of the two games. Dallas won the Division, and won a playoff game while the Eagles were home on their couches watching.

Dallas’s O Line is the best in the league, without question. They made it even better this year and they improved their D line this year.

Eagles still don’t have a proven QB. One first round draft bust and one first round gimpy that hasn’t played a full season yet. Good luck with that Philly.

I see. It’s not that the Eagles line is any good, it’s that your defense was so bad. Got it. Never could count on Cowboys fans to think.

  71. Love how this time last year these same filthadelphia fans were just dogging Murray about his skills, speed and durability…and now that he’s a Sheagle he’s above and beyond any player in this league?? Lets face it filthy… You gave up a year-in-year-out proven dominant running back (shady)…for a guy that had 1 good year, on a contract year…haha

By all means enjoy your time with Mr. Fumbles, it’s especially fun having to hold your breathe every carry bcuz he fumbles twice a game…

  72. Sorry, but the Browns line is better than either one. Three first rounders and two second rounders headed by 8-time pro bowler Joe Thomas, another pro-bowler in center Alex Mack, last years rookie sensation Joel Bitonio and this year’s first round pick Cameron Erving who can play all five offensive line positions.

  73. Davewr…really?? Cleveland’s line?? How good did your qbs perform with that “dominant” line last year?? And their running game was pretty “dominant ” too…just bcuz you have the talent it doesn’t mean you get the same production… The coaching in Cleveland is abismal…the boys’ line dominates under the previous coaching of legend Bill Callahan and is now left in the hands of Callahan’s own coaching pupil Frank Pollack, we’re in good hands…Cleveland not so much..

DUDE! You don’t play fair, don’t you know you are not supposed to ever bring up super bowl titles to Eagle fans? They prefer talk to center around off season moves & regular season victories.

  75. Peters comments are the kind of thing you’d expect from a immature kid. Will serve as motivation for the humble but great Dallas linemen. Like how the vets, like T.Smith and Frederick downplayed La’el Collins comments about being the best in NFL history. BTW I have never in 40 years of watching football seen a OLine with 3 absolute studs like Smith,Frederick and Martin all 24 or younger. Amazing

  76. I enjoy the Cowboy fans picking on us Eagle fans. We’re easy we never won the Super Bowl, we are here every season, every week. We’re easy unlike the Cowboy fans that climb out from under their rock when the Cowboys have a good season. When they were going through those 8-8 runs you couldn’t find a Cowboy fan. It’s better now watching them make a jacka$$ of themselves.

  77. Reading and knowing stuff before yapping about it is fun.
    _______

    Here’s something I know.

    Superbowl Championships
    Cowboys-5
    Eagles-0

  78. Sort of like, “Ya, ya, ya, ya, my dad can beat your dad. Why do so many immature, sub zero intellects gravitate to the NFL?

  79. For all ya’ll that wanna jump on Peters for this statement let’s look at a few facts.

    1) This is practically the same O-Line that got McCoy the rushing title the year before.

    2) Murray was the Rushing Leader last season. McCoy was right behind him at #2, mostly behind the O-Line that will be projected to start next season.

    3) This O-Line, even when it was patchworked early in the season, still produced a 10-6 season.

    4) Had McCoy been more North-South with his running, he might would’ve challenged that rushing title a bit more. But even beyond that, Sproles was able to make some huge runs, also behind the same projected starting line for next season.

Peters has every reason to be confident that Murray will be able to duplicate his success for next season. You all are talking like the O-line is full of bums when, in fact, they are among the best in the league. So I stand behind Peters statement. And to his credit, he did give credit where it was due to the Dallas o-Line. e’s just enforcing that what Dallas can do, we also can do, but we can also do it better! E-A-G-L-E-S…. EAGLES!

  80. Only NFC East fans that can taunt the super bowl is the Giants fans. Cowboys and Skins last won championships when I was a high school kid 20 years ago. Pretty sure none of the players from those teams are still playing to help your teams now just like none from the Eagles 1960s championship are there to help the team.

As an Eagles fan I now hand the mic to the Giants fans to take advantage of the divisions lack of championship outside of your own for the last 20+ years.

  81. @zeusdagod

Hey man, where you been? Another guy that told us over & over a few years ago how Vick was going to lead the Eagles to the promise land. How’d that work out for you??

Now your here after another year of nothing but failure (10 wins means zero with no playoff wins) with more opinionated bs on how Peters is right…

Peters will be hurt once again by midseason & his words will mean jack, just as that line will have Sam “the glassman” Bradford on IR by week 4 as happens every year with both players. Murray is another injury waiting to happen & well, after Bradford…Tebow or Sanchez makes you guys NY Jets south! How’d Sanchez work out for the Jets?

Same as Vick worked out for you. 19,800 days & counting, 2015 will be the same result. After reading Eagle fans comments it is starting to look like maybe Philly has now become the factory of sadness.

  82. So, everyone jumps on my post pointing out the Eagles O-Line was rated #1 in run blocking last year. What’s great is how many jumped on that comment and said things like “You didn’t even make the playoffs!”, “This is why nobody likes you! You run your mouth without winning anything!”

    Relax.

Go back and read my comment again. I made no indication about my belief in the team’s ability to win games, claimed they were Super Bowl contenders, etc.

This is an article about the O-line of the Eagles. There were a ton of comments about how terrible they were last year, and that it was nowhere near as good as the Cowboys line. So, I simply pointed out facts that dispute that notion as it pertains to run blocking. (Yes, I did not say run blocking. Silly me, I thought that was understood, as we were discussing Demarco running behind a different line. My apologies for not being clearer.). Everyone else took that and ran with it. I stated a simple fact. There was no trash-talking, no “chest beating”, or claims of “Dream Team”.

Many of you look too deep into things and interpret them to outrageous extremes. Relax. I stated one single fact to rebut claims they were terrible last year. That’s it. One. Single. Fact.

  83. 1. Talk is cheap in the pre-season.
    b. T. Smith > J. Peters
III. Dallas OL > Philly OL
fo. Murray won’t come close to 1800+ yards

  84. @distracted9, who said:
“Philly’s D line dominated the vaunted Dallas O line twice last year.. Cedric Thornton called them out then backed it up.. Dallas cried they had a short week.. but we did that week too.. Our D line made that line look silly.. go back and watch”

Dallas didn’t get home from a Sunday night game at NYG until 5 am Monday morning; Philthy had a Sunday 3 PM home game and were all watching the DAL v NYG game from their own living rooms… The Cowboys looked like the cast of “The Walking Dead” on T’Day.

Secondly, in the conference-deciding game at Philthadelphia — Dallas dominated PHI in the latter stages of the game. That’s the proof of a great OL wearing down a defense. Notice how PHI’s OL was unable to wear down DAL’s unarguably inferior DL late in the game? That’s because DAL’s OL kept their offense on the field — in the face of the legendary raucous, boozed-up Eagles faithful (and Bradley Cooper) — scoring points and eating clock. Meanwhile, DAL’s defense rested and then somehow out-played PHI’s legends-in-their-own-minds OL, even though DAL’s defense was the same bunch of scrubs PHI had dissected at DAL 2 weeks earlier…

The result? DAL wins going away. Eagles fans and players may remember the outcome differently, given their obvious problems distinguishing historical fact from fiction… And who can blame them, when their NFL fantasies are clearly so much brighter than their NFL reality?

Y’all’s biggest problem though is the Chipmunk Kelly Method Of Offense And Team-Destroying, er, -Building… Put more succinctly: Y’all are screwed.

  85. Dallas hasn’t done crap in this league since 2 years after the league put in the salary cap. But those fans still rub it into the Eagles fans chops. Who cares whos line is better, Dallas had the #1 o-line in the league last year, where did that get them. 1 play-off win that they shouldn’t of won if not for a bad ref call vs detroit. Lets see where those turds wind up at the end of 2015 with mcfaggin. Giants will be the team to beat, eagles with a possible wild card and the skins and turds can fight it out for 4th

  86. The eagles SUCK! what they did during the regular season doesn’t. mean crap. In the end the Cowboys were the NFC EAST CHAMPS. So as far as I’m concern Dallas was the best team last year. Philly’s O Line is old, and getting older. Dallas O Line is young, and getting better. But what do you expect from a old brain dead lineman that’s been hit in his head to much.

  87. U mean to tell me that the eagles have a better o line…..we have 4 1st rounders….Philly eagles are pathetic. For even Making such dumb comments….WE ARE THE NFC EAST CHAMPS AND WHUT IS PHILLY????

  88. HILARIOUS!

Man I needed a laugh. The birds be a clucking. But what else is Peters going to say to the dumbest most rah-rah homers of all the NFL fan-bases.

Seriously, every time I have the misfortune of talking to one of these football imbeciles, I love bringing up the fact their owner is a lifelong fan OF ANOTHER TEAM! (Patriots). I have YET to find A SINGLE ONE that knew that before I told them (awesome to watch the cognizant dissonance cross their faces).

As far as what Peters said? Pfft, that’s so weak and stupid it doesn’t deserve a response.

    Actually here’s a response to J.Peters;

Peters, PFF is friggin website written by englishmen, exactly when did they being credible regarding AMERICAN football.

You can put a 1000 monkeys in a room to EXAMINE football play(er)s, and judge them by hitting a green or red button, and they’d have a 50% chance of being right but THAT doesn’t prove a monkey can EVALUATE football.

I’m not suggesting an englishman and a monkey have the same IQ.

I am however suggesting if the monkey was born in the states and in regards to AMERICAN football the monkey likely has the edge.

  89. correction;

“Peters, PFF is friggin website written by englishmen, exactly when did they being START being credible regarding AMERICAN football.”

  90. So just so I get this straight from the Eagles fans’ perspective.

PFF ranks the Eagles OL the best run blocking OL in the league. Therefore, the Eagles must be the best run blocking OL in the league.

PFF ranks Evan Mathis as one of their top OGs in the league (last year and the previous few years as well). Well PFF doesn’t have a clue what they are talking about because Mathis was overrated and he won’t be missed that much.

    The contradictions are hilarious.

  91. We are better at left tackle, right tackle and center. Guards I give to Dallas but Evan Mathis won’t be missed.
    —————————————–

Not a fan of either team, but I’d take Tyron Smith over any of the Eagles Olinemen. I give Dallas the edge everywhere except RT, Lane Johnson was fantastic last year. I would have given LG to Philly, but Mathis is gone.

Dallas’ Oline certainly played better last year. Doesn’t mean Phily doesn’t have the talent to be the best this year.

  92. Sure, and why wouldn’t he say that? Nothing happens if he’s wrong. These guys are expected to fill the air with false bravado.

Tie part of his pay to the aggregate score of all 5 OL and tell him he will lose money if he’s wrong and I bet he’d change his tune real quickly.

The truth is, there is no comparison between the excellent (and deep) Dallas OL and the much less talented (and shallow) Philly OL.

  93. Everything is won or lost in the trenches, on offense and defense.

Running backs, wideouts need only be serviceable…even quarterbacks can be mediocre, so long as the OL is excellent (Think: Bart Starr, Earl Morrall, Trent Dickfer, etc.). Gotta have a great TE, though, who can catch and block.

On the other side, if the DL is excellent, LBs and DBs — with the exception of FS! — need only be workmanlike. These are not only the founding principles of the Tampa 2, but *every* great championship defense, regardless of scheme, in every era of football. Great lines make the running game go, and conversely stop the run. The rest is details.

…And that’s why the Chipmunk Kelley (Kelly?) Gadget Offense is doomed to NFL failure, same as every other Run-N-Shoot variant in history: You can fool younger, less-talented college players. Faster, veteran players, masters of their trade? Not just ‘no’, but ‘oh, hell, no!’…

Honestly? Because it’s based on running the ball, a Veer/Wishbone has more chance of championship success than Kelly’s ‘Spread’ (a.k.a., Mouse Davis’ Run-N-Shoot). A ball-control offense will always beat a hurry-up, except in 2-minute situations when the defense is playing Prevent…

  94. eaglesnoles05 says:

I feel like the eagles runningback led the NFL in rushing the year before when the Eagles OL was healthy… And the reason I feel that way is because it’s a fact… so it’s hard to say ‘it’s hard to believe’ that Murray can lead the NFL this yr.
    =========================

McCoy was able to make people miss in the backfield. The OL allowed quite a few jail breaks. However, Murray (who is NOT shifty and makes NO ONE miss) got over 800 yards BEFORE CONTACT.

That’s why this OL and this RB are not a good match.

  95. Football Outsiders ranked Dallas the #1 run blocking line last year, and the Eagles were 29th or 30th.
