Darrelle Revis, Patriots defensive backs to work out together in July

Cornerback Darrelle Revis may have jumped to the Jets as a free agent and skipped the Patriots’ Super Bowl ring ceremony, but he isn’t cutting all ties to his former teammates in New England.

Revis is going to be spending time with a few members of the Patriots secondary in Arizona next month. Patriots safety Devin McCourty told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com that he, cornerback Logan Ryan and safety Tavon Wilson will start prepping for training camp on July 12 by working out with Revis and trainer Will Sullivan.

The players did the same thing last summer before Revis’s first and only season with the Patriots.

“It was good for us to just be out there and just get more camaraderie with each other and just hang out with each other a lot every day,” Revis said of last year’s workouts, via the Associated Press.

The camaraderie won’t help Revis this year, although it could be a boost for McCourty and company as they move forward without the cornerback in the lineup for the 2015 season.

  1. Amid all the rivalry and backstabbing that goes on these days its great to hear that some of the players can put it to one side and work together. Good for them!

  2. Darrelle Revis called Brady the best ever to play the game.

The best appreciate the best. They also appreciate the hard work and dedication of the professionals that make up the supporting cast.

  3. I hope he invites some of his current teammates as well to develop similar camaraderie he enjoyed with his former team.

  4. .
Number of Patriots players who thought Revis should turn down the proverbial ” offer you can’t refuse” from the Jets : 0
    .

  5. It’s almost as if these are actual people, and don’t adhere to good guy/bad guy pro wrestling rules that stupid fans think they do.

  6. I’m sure the NFL will make rule against doing stuff like this in the future now that the pats are involved. The formations they used in the Baltimore playoff game were a thing of beauty.

  7. Amid all the Deflategate obnoxious takes from angles this PFT this kinda puts things in perspective. As fans(and comment board warriors) look in the mirror and realize you might be a little too emotional about this stuff

  8. It really is a non-story except for two points:

    1. It is good to see guys from opposing teams workout together in the off-season

    2. You know this story got under Woody Johnson’s skin

  9. Nice to know not everyone an idiot. No offense Robbieboston. You keep saying ignorant crap while both teams are making more money than any of us. Remember you needed a former Jet coach, a Jet to knock out your QB to bring in Brady and a jet CB to help win a super bowl. So in the end there’s a shade of green in every super bowl the Patsies won

Yeah, I would watch who I was calling ignorant.

Bledsoe was on his way out. Lewis just made it happen sooner. There was a reason BB kept Brady on the roster a 4th QB.

    Who keeps 4 QBS?

The Pats- Jets rivalry was fairly benign for decades. It amped up when Parcells and BB left New England . . . yes left NE after or even during a SB appearance . .. . to go to NY, and then stole C Martin. Did you forget ? The story that NE stole BB or that BB screwed the Jets MISSES A FEW FACTS.

  14. Possibly to find out what Revis knows. Haters will call it spying but Belichick will call it finding out what your potential opponent knows. It well worked last season against the Seahawks when we signed Browner. That was one of the main reasons Brady had success against Seattle defense.
