Police are investigating JPP’s fireworks incident

When it comes to the July 4 fireworks incident that seriously injured Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, he may have something else to worry about. Something that pales in comparison to the injuries he sustained.

According to Jordan Ranaan of NJ.com, the Coral Springs, Florida police have commenced an investigation regarding the incident. Pierre-Paul could face charges for illegal possession of fireworks

Per Ranaan, the authorities have contacted Pierre-Paul and his agents in an effort to arrange a meeting.

If Pierre-Paul is indeed going to face charges for illegal possession of fireworks on the Fourth of July, there are at least a few million people throughout the country who could be sharing a cell with him. So why not just leave the guy alone while he deals with far more serious consequences than whatever fine or slap on the wrist the law would require?

  1. Millions of people smoke weed and millions of underage people drink alcohol. Just because millions of people do it doesn’t make it legal.

  2. Sounds like somebody else was shooting off illegal fireworks this weekend. I don’t see why the fact that he got injured should get him off from any legal repercussions.

Because this is the new America, Florio. You already know this.

If there is an easy way to take money from a citizen. Rest assured those in charge at the city, state or federal level will certainly do so.

Only person he injured is himself.

You can say the same about Plaxico Burress though. The Giants just need to ban their players from having anything to do with things that contain gun powder.

  5. They’ll go after JPP because he is a celebrity and it will get the DA some ammunition for his next campaign for reelection.

  6. He broke the law, doing something stupid and dangerous. He should be arrested.

And so should everyone else in violation of local fireworks statutes. Those laws exist for a very good reason. As JPP must understand by now.

(Yes, the fine for fireworks use in FLA is sort of piddling. But that only tells me the fine needs to be bigger.)

How is it illegal to have fireworks in Florida but they sell them in publix and all of the other stores in Florida?

    ——————————

Same way drugs are illegal but stores are still allowed to sell paraphernalia.

  8. Police look the other way on this stuff but when an incident happens they really can’t ignore writing a citation.

It’s just the way it is.

The fact that he about burned his fingers off is why it is illegal for people to have these.

It’s just the way it is.

  9. Come on Florio, attorney at law. You had the same dismissive attitude towards the kids that destroyed the guy’s home with an “illegal” party. What happened to right’s right and wrong’s wrong?

  10. As a florida resident anyone can buy milk eggs and fireworks at their local grocery store around July 4th or new years or at any number of road side stands.

What are the police going to investigate?

I would investigate who ordered the investigation

  11. It was literally a TRUCK LOAD of fireworks! He should be let off because…. why?

It starts with his fingers, it ends with a neighbors house being burned down.

Why let a multi millionaire who broke the law off the hook? Its a good law, no one should be doing off that much junk in their back yard!

  12. Poor guy is gonna have a hard time signing his franchise tender with his hands wrapped in bandages and also handcuffed.

  13. Well I guess you can say…
    ( •_•)
    ( •_•)>⌐■-■
    he was caught “red-handed”
    (⌐■_■)
    YYYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  14. Hello? uh, no Mr Pierre-Paul is not available. When will he be? He left for NY for training, he won’t return until next January. Thank you.

  15. There are so many laws now that you are always guilty of something. The authorities simply tacitly agree to only enforce the bigger ones, unless you get crosswise with them or sass back. It’s amazing how many people are ok with this state of affairs.

  16. Uhhh, Plaxico Burris should have just had to live with the consequence of shooting himself in the groin. Instead, he went to prison for TWO YEARS! I’m carrying a gun right now in a public library. Ohhhhhhh, the horrors!!!

  17. So let me get this right. In Florida you can carry a firearm, follow someone around and shoot them. You can’t light a Roman candle. Makes sense.

  18. I seriously can’t believe this is even a discussion. It’s fireworks. Who cares. The people in America need to get their heads out of the sand and quit acting like scared children. Be responsible for yourself and quit letting these dimwitted politicians convince you that someone is a “criminal” or deserves punishment for lighting off fireworks to celebrate our once great country.

  19. Did you say the same thing when Burress shot himself in the leg Florio? Didn’t think so.

  20. Hey Florio! Your are telling Law Enforcement to back off. Why didn’t you tell the NFL and the other inadequate NFL teams and their fans to back off during the Tom Brady witch hunt…..

  21. Having had lived in Florida for many years, we could LEGALLY purchase fireworks after signing a form that stated we were using them for “agricultural” purposes. There were a couple other options if I recall, however, they all had to do with “loophole” provisions in the law.

Essentially, you were saying that the rockets and whatnot were going to be used for “scaring away wildlife from damaging your crops.” ID’s were never checked back then and if those papers are still found on file.. mine will be one of the many signed by Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison or Abe Lincoln.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Why are you carrying a gun at a public library? Are you expecting a big book heist that you might need to foil? Are you worried about dealing with particularly difficult books?
