Patriots sign Tarell Brown

Oakland Raiders v Kansas City Chiefs

Peter G. Aiken

The Patriots have added another cornerback to the mix just ahead of the start of training camp.

ESPN reports that the Patriots have signed veteran Tarell Brown. Brown visited with the Patriots earlier this offseason and also drew some interest from the Ravens while trying to find a job for the 2015 season.

Brown ended last season on injured reserve after breaking a bone in his foot while playing for the Raiders last season. Brown started 14 games for Oakland before the injury, recording 55 tackles, and was a starter for the 49ers for the three previous seasons.

Brown’s addition continues the renovation of the Patriots’ cornerback group. Darrelle Revis, Brandon Browner, Kyle Arrington and Alfonzo Dennard are all gone from last year’s group, which leaves Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler to compete with newcomers Bradley Fletcher, Robert McClain and Brown for playing time in the secondary this season.
