Sean Smith suspended three games after DUI plea

AP

We might not get Tom Brady news today, but it is Friday.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Chiefs cornerback Sean Smith is being suspended three games,

In April, Smith pleaded guilty to DUI and received two years probation. He gets one game beyond the standard two-game suspension the league normally doles out.

Smith played well last year, and is entering the final year of his contract with the Chiefs, and the suspension may make them think twice about his future with the team beyond the current year. They drafted cornerback Marcus Peters in the first round this year, and they have sufficient depth to cover them the first month of the season.

  1. Hey PFT…..you ought to put up a second counter, displaying the number of days since the last suspension

  2. That Sucks. Appeal it Sean. You hit a telephone pole, not a person. They should knock it down to 2 games at the very least. Maybe you can get a friendly Greg Hardy style ruling.

    Go Chiefs!

  3. You Patriots CHEATER Fans always like to spin and minimize the facts. Yes, a DIU is more serious than air pressure in a ball, but that is not the problem… it was Blatant Cheating during a Game and the non-compliance to cover up the malice was what Brady is in trouble for. No one cares about the actual ball pressure or the physics of cold weather. He broke the rules of the game. Period!

Sean Smith broke the law. Period! He didn’t break some rules in a game, it was the law. One person’s action could have killed someone(Sean Smith), the other’s could not have(Tom Brady). I’m not saying what Brady did was right because it wasn’t and he’s being punished for that, but in the grand scheme of things Sean Smith could have murdered someone. Look up Donte Stallworth……

Your argument is idiotic at best.

  5. I’m not asking this sarcastically, I seriously want to know. Aside for a job that directly requires it’s employees to drive a company vehicle, does anyone else have an employer that would suspend them or take away their pay because they got a DUI on their own time? I know several people that have gotten in trouble in their off time and it did not affect their job in any way. Once again, just curious.

  6. Yes, I would lose my job if I got a DUI. I’m an Insurance Agent so it’s somewhat related.

  7. No matter what the story is the first post is always gonna be about deflated footballs. It’s not funny anymore. You’re not being clever or original. We get it. Some things are worse than deflate gate. Please for the love of God stop mentioning in every single article that has nothing to do with it.

  8. Brady’s actions affected the outcome of games. Smith’s did not. You are comparing apples & oranges. Please continue.(grabs popcorn)

Sean broke the law and deserves a suspension because of Player Conduct. Brady’s has to do with integrity of the game. The problem is you’re assuming a Patriots fan understands what integrity is!

  10. He seems to be able to hold onto a drink well. Has he ever got better at holding onto potential interceptions? Or do they always still keep bouncing off his hinds?
