NFL reviewing Justin Hunter case

Titans receiver Justin Hunter has been arraigned for felonious assault in connection with an allegation that he punched a man, breaking his jaw and cracking a tooth. But so far neither the NFL nor the Titans have taken any action against Hunter.

Although the league has put some players on paid leave immediately when they are accused of violent crimes, all the NFL will say with Hunter is that they’re looking into the case.

The matter is under review,” NFL spokesman Greg Aiello told Terry McCormick of 247 Sports. “That is the extent of what we can say at this point. . . . Can’t speculate on outcomes.”

Hunter has been something of a disappointment as a 2013 second-round draft pick: Although he’s a big-play threat, with an average of 18.5 yards a catch, he has just 46 catches for 852 yards and seven touchdowns. The Titans would like to see more from Hunter on the field, but it’s possible they’ll be seeing less from him, if his off-field actions lead to a suspension.
