Trent Richardson activated by Raiders after bout with pneumonia

AP

After opening camp on the non-football illness list, Raiders running back Trent Richardson is ready to go.

The Raiders activated Richardson today, and he told reporters he had been suffering from pneumonia.

Richardson said he was frustrated to have to miss time, because he knows he’s going to have to battle just to make the Raiders’ roster. After a disastrous tenure with the Colts, Richardson has to prove he can be an effective NFL running back. So far in his career, he hasn’t done that.

In Oakland’s backfield, Richardson is likely to open the preseason as the third-stringer behind Latavius Murray and Roy Helu.

  1. “Richardson has to prove he can be a CONSISTENT
    NFL running back.”

    I fixed that for you…

    2012 CLE – 267 for 950 yds rushing, 11 TD
    51 for 367 yds receiving, 1 TD

  2. It’s gotta be depressing to be a raider fan. The broncos, chargers and chiefs are soooo much better than this ragtag group. Can’t wait to see “raider nation” turn their backs on Carr this season.

    Yes, you was.

  4. The problem with Richardson is that for him to make the team, he is going to need to show that he can run AND play special teams.

I think Taiwan Jones has the edge as the third back unless he does something goofy.

It’s got to be depressing to imagine what it’s like to be a Raider fan. No quotes needed.

The collective of Manning, Rivers, and Smith combine for a 16-19 postseason record, with one trophy between them. Jim Plunkett won two, and he wasn’t even elite.

  7. So…the Raiders would rather have Richardson, Helu and Murray, over signing Ray Rice?

It’s not like the Raiders couldn’t handle the baggage that would come along with it. They don’t call it “the black hole” for nothing.

You have to combine the Broncos, Chargers and Chiefs to have the same amount of Super Bowls as the Raiders. So if it’s depressing to be a raiders fans, then you must want to jump of a bridge if you root for these other loser franchises. And the raiders didn’t cheat the salary cap to win their Super Bowls.

Can’t wait to see Carr, Cooper and Mack making pro bowl after pro bowl and brining the raiders a couple of more Super Bowls!!

  9. Imagine what it’s like to be a raider fan? Just put on some mascara and black clothing, join a gang, don’t attend ANY games and pretend you know a damn thing about football, and you ARE a raider fan.

Personally, I’d like to see Richardson make something of himself, just not with the raiders. It’s got to be a little encouraging that he was on the non-football illness list, and not being punished somehow.
