Seahawks add George Farmer, switch him to defensive back

The Legion of Boom has gotten a potential new member, in an unusual way.

The Seahawks have signed former USC receiver George Farmer — and they will convert him to defensive back.

Farmer, a top recruit whose career was undermined by a knee injury, was waived last week by the Cowboys, who had given him $55,000 guaranteed as an undrafted free agent in May.

The Cowboys will avoid that obligation if he makes the team in Seattle, and if he sticks around long enough to earn that much money. To do that, however, he’ll have to figure out how to play a new position — quickly.
