Jason Pierre-Paul reportedly plans to report to Giants soon

Other than making fun of the fact he blew his own finger off in a fireworks accident, we haven’t heard much from Jason Pierre-Paul and neither have the Giants.

Both could be changing soon.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Pierre-Paul plans to report to the Giants before the start of the regular season, since his rehabilitation is “progressing very well.”

Of course, the Giants are going to want to determine that for themselves before they hand him $14.8 million. They haven’t rescinded the franchise tag, and Pierre-Paul hasn’t signed it either, since he might not pass a physical and could go on the unpaid non-football injury list when he does.

The Giants have had some degree of contact, but not much, and clearly not enough to pencil him into the lineup for the opener against the Cowboys, and not enough to guarantee him 17 weeks worth of checks.

  1. It’s all about the money. He’s going to try to pry as many dollars out of the Giants as possible. There’s no way he’s an effective player this year. This is just a con job.

  2. Can’t happen soon enough… maybe he can take some reps at Safety?

I guess all those commenters who said he wouldn’t play at all this year will begin to rescind and offer apologies for their ignorance….

  3. If Giants think they’re in contention this year, why not rescind the $14.8M tag and use a good chunk on Kam Chancellor. He’ll be a great tutor to the young safety corps there, especially Landon Collins.

The DEs on the Giants have been looking decent. I think they’ll be fine without JPP.

  4. Great, the DE who cant hold contain on the End with TWO hands and 10 fingers, is gonna try to do it with ONE hand and 9 Fingers.. LOL.. he sucks and isnt worth 1/2 the 14 million on the table..

  5. JPP –I, as a Giants fan wish you all the best whether or not your able to resume your career though I’m praying your able to go soon and help us get back in the playoffs.

  6. I’m not a professional athlete by any stretch, but having lost a finger, it’s gonna take a year to get his hand working right again, and he’s certainly not gonna be as strong as he was after having that hand/arm immobilized for weeks. He’s a good player, if not great, but made one hell of a dumb decision. Why not just have your friend light the fireworks and sit back w/your kid and watch it? A

It might have something to do with the fact that Chancellor isn’t a free agent. Duh
