Dolphins cut Josh Freeman

After throwing a pair of interceptions in Thursday night’s preseason game against the Buccaneers, quarterback Josh Freeman vowed to “exhaust every option” available to him before giving up on his hopes of resuming his NFL career.

That didn’t sound like a man who was confident in his chances of making the Dolphins’ 53-man roster and it looks like he’ll have to find his next chance somewhere other than Miami. Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report reports that the Dolphins have released the former Buccaneers first-round pick.

It’s the second time that the Dolphins have released Freeman since initially signing him in April, but they came into the cut to 53 players with three quarterbacks already on the roster and it’s hard to imagine that they would let Freeman go free at this point if they had their hearts set on having him on the team in 2015.

Freeman, who last played in a regular season game with the Vikings in 2013, was 23-of-48 for 332 yards, a touchdown and four interceptions with the Dolphins in the preseason. Those aren’t numbers that would seem to make anyone else’s heart set on having him on their roster, but one can never predict how often the quarterback carousel will spin in a given season.

  1. Josh played so poorly last night. Shocking to see a former 1st Round Pick for the Jags end up in QB purgatory. Keep at it, bruh, for as long as you can. Ever thought of seeing a Sports Psychologist, Josh?

  2. What happened to this guy? Has anyone asked him to p in a cup yet? someone is wrong, never seen a QB forget how to throw the football before…..

  3. Not the Jags Wallabear, probably thinking of Lame Gabbert. Freeman getting all those chances is a sad statement regarding the QB depth in the league. Sit back and think of the money collected vs. results.

    Don’t you mean Tampa Bay????

  5. Yea I remember how Schiano was ruining the Bucs years ago by putting him on the bench. Now years later there isn’t a bench that wants the guy and the Buc’s one of the wost teams in the league. But’s that ok the media loves Lovie, and that’s better then winning

  6. Philbin is an idiot THAT’S WHY it took so long. When we got rid of him the first time should have loaded up on some more o line personelle, now we really have a need & Philbin is too stupid to get some help for the team!!! 2 QB’s will be just fine for this team!!!

Hopefully my Vikings take another look at Josh. Our QB situation is the laughingstock of the NFCN!!

Nothing more Pathetic than Captain Obvious
there, pretending to be a Vikes fan.
At least have the ***** to cheer your own team.

  8. I really don’t understand how he went from a pretty good quarterback to an absolute scrub in little more than a year.
There has to be something going on in his life that’s not good.
Hope he gets it figured out. The NFL is over for him, but he has a lot of living left.

  9. Everyone knew this was coming. He never stood a chance with the Dolphins.

Once you fail with the Vikings, you’ve reached rock bottom and have started to dig.

  10. This guy is washed up. Completely hit the skids.

Schiano was right about this guy. Plain and simple.

Who gets another try first – Richardson or Freeman?

  11. What’s all this talk about not cutting him sooner?

It’s called a camp arm. You really want your actual backup playing serious time in the 4th preseason game?

  12. with quarterbacks the Canadian football league dropping like flies there’s always going to be work for people like Josh Freeman and Ryan Lindley, BC lost his quarterback last night and John BEC K, step. And look quite good! So guys make sure your passport up-to-date and you don’t have a drunk driving convictions and had North!

  13. I remember that people were saying this guy was better than Cutler and Stafford. The same people that thought butt fumble was really good for being a Trent Diller on a playoff team! The Sanchize didn’t work out too well and neither did Freeman.

  14. Folks crucified Schiano for giving up on him………just maybe Schiano knew more about football than these folks do.

Unless your name is Letroy Guion, then you can go play for a record setting defense, the record for biggest playoff collapse ever.

  16. How many more chances do you think he gets? I ve got 1.5 on the over/under but teams are so desperate for warm bodies at QB right now who knows?

  17. Just a matter of time before the cheatroits (pats) pick up one of our cut players…heck they may even pick up Josh Freeman just to get information about our offense and then dump him

  18. …And to think that Josh was few more mediocre performances away from an $80-100 million contract from the Bucs. The Bucs wasted 4+ years with him and he set them back 6-7 years.

Thanks Mark Dumonik for being so impressed by this guys’ warm-up before a K. State game!

  19. He needs to go, he was horrible last night when he had a chance to win the game. How many interceptions can you send in a few minutes. Good bye and good Luck Josh.
