PFT’s Week One picks

AP

The new season begins tonight. Everyone is 0-0. Including MDS and yours truly.

For each team, it’s a 16-game sprint. For the PFT annual in-house picks competition, it’s a 256-game marathon.

We start with 16 games for Week One and, more importantly, three disagreements.

Hopefully, MDS enjoys being tied with me while he can.

Steelers at Patriots

MDS’s take: The defending champions will be energized by the return of Tom Brady, and ready for a statement game like last year’s “On to Cincinnati” blowout of the Bengals. The Steelers will struggle just to keep this one close.

MDS’s pick: Patriots 31, Steelers 20.

Florio’s take: The Steelers have too many key players missing on offense and not enough key players on defense to disrupt the Patriots’ pent-up frustration party.

Florio’s pick: Patriots 36, Steelers 25.

Packers at Bears

MDS’s take: John Fox will make the Bears a more physical and more disciplined team than they were under Marc Trestman, but it will take him another year to make them a good team. Right now Chicago just doesn’t have the talent on the roster to keep pace with Green Bay.

MDS’s pick: Packers 28, Bears 17.

Florio’s take: My gut is telling me the Bears can win. My head is telling me, “You’d be crazy to pick the Bears.” In Week One, I’ll stick with my head.

Florio’s pick: Packers 28, Bears 20.

Chiefs at Texans

MDS’s take: If Brian Hoyer proves himself to be a good quarterback, the Texans can be a playoff team. I’m a little higher on Hoyer than most, and I’ll pick the Texans to start the season 1-0.

MDS’s pick: Texans 20, Chiefs 17.

Florio’s take: Last year, the Chiefs were flat in Week One and spent all year recovering from it. The coaching staff likely spent the full offseason ensuring that the Chiefs won’t be flat to start 2015.

Florio’s pick: Chiefs 24, Texans 22.

Browns at Jets

MDS’s take: It was smart of the NFL’s schedulers to put these two teams against each other in Week One. They’re both going to have bad seasons, but you might as well give one fan base a reason for excitement after a 1-0 start. I’ll take the Jets to win a close and ugly game.

MDS’s pick: Jets 12, Browns 9.

Florio’s take: I always say that teams shouldn’t get too excited about a Week One win because there’s a chance that the victory came against the worst team in the league. In unrelated news, the Jets are just a little bit better right now than the Browns, especially after the abrupt suspension of the team’s offensive line coach.

Florio’s pick: Jets 23, Browns 15.

Colts at Bills

MDS’s take: There’s a lot to like about the Bills this year. Rex Ryan will have the defense playing great, and the running game should be strong. But in a game matching Andrew Luck and Tyrod Taylor, I have to take Luck’s team.

MDS’s pick: Colts 21, Bills 17.

Florio’s take: Is it really an upset for a team that was 9-7 and improved in the offseason to beat a team that dominated a weak division, caught a limping Denver team at the right time, got blown out in the AFC title game, and then did nothing to address its most glaring weakness?

Florio’s pick: Bills 23, Colts 20.

Dolphins at Washington

MDS’s take: New Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is going to make Washington quarterback Kirk Cousins wish Jay Gruden had given the job to Robert Griffin III.

MDS’s pick: Dolphins 20, Washington 7.

Florio’s take: After starting the season with visits from the Dolphins and the Rams, it may not be Kirk Cousins’ team by Week Three.

Florio’s pick: Dolphins 30, Washington 19.

Panthers at Jaguars

MDS’s take: Cam Newton is going to have to do it himself a lot this year, as the Panthers’ receiving corps is weak. I’m not sure that bodes well for Carolina’s season, but in Jacksonville, Newton doing it himself is enough to eke out a close win against a bad team.

MDS’s pick: Panthers 21, Jaguars 20.

Florio’s take: While the outcome won’t mean that the winner is a contender or that the loser isn’t, the perpetually-downtrodden Jags start the season off right for fans that have been far more loyal than recent performances would warrant.

Florio’s pick: Jaguars 24, Panthers 17.

Seahawks at Rams

MDS’s take: I think the Rams will be better this year, and they could make a huge statement if they can beat Seattle in the opener. They could, but they won’t. The Seahawks will manage to hold off a tough challenge and beat the Rams.

MDS’s pick: Seahawks 16, Rams 13.

Florio’s take: The Seahawks return to the field for the first time since the enduring one of the greatest disappointments in NFL history. And they apparently won’t have Kam Chancellor. And their offensive line is struggling. And the Rams have a great defense. And Nick Foles seems confident and loose. And it’s still too early in the year to be picking a team like Seattle to lose to a perpetual also-ran, even though the Rams could easily win this one.

Florio’s pick: Seahawks 22, Rams 13.

Saints at Cardinals

MDS’s take: The Cardinals were as good as anyone last year before Carson Palmer got hurt. I’m not sure if Palmer can stay healthy for 16 games this year, but he’s healthy for now, and he’ll lead Arizona to a win over New Orleans.

MDS’s pick: Cardinals 28, Saints 24.

Florio’s take: The Saints have made plenty of changes as part of a calculated effort to improve. And they improvements could be immediate. And it likely won’t matter when the first game out of the gates is played against the Cardinals on the road.

Florio’s pick: Cardinals 27, Saints 21.

Lions at Chargers

MDS’s take: The Lions’ defense is going to take a big step backward this season, and Philip Rivers & Co. will take advantage on Sunday. The Chargers will win a high-scoring game.

MDS’s pick: Chargers 35, Lions 31.

Florio’s take: The post-Suh blues arrive for the Lions, who will have a hard time defending against the San Diego offense, and whose own offense will have a hard time doing what it needs to do.

Florio’s pick: Chargers 26, Lions 18.

Titans at Buccaneers

MDS’s take: It’s not Marcus Mariota vs. Jameis Winston, it’s Mariota vs. the Buccaneers’ defense and Winston vs. the Titans’ defense. I like Lovie Smith to have his defense ready to shut Mariota down thoroughly, and as a result I like the Bucs to win the opener.

MDS’s pick: Buccaneers 14, Titans 6.

Florio’s take: The Bucs and the Titans both earned their potential franchise quarterbacks by being awful in 2014. The Bucs have the tools to be a little less awful to start the new season.

Florio’s pick: Buccaneers 23, Titans 16.

Bengals at Raiders

MDS’s take: The Raiders are trending in the right direction with good young players like Khalil Mack, Derek Carr and Amari Cooper, but they’re not ready to compete in the AFC just yet. Oakland will keep it close for most of the game but wilt down the stretch against the Bengals.

MDS’s pick: Bengals 24, Raiders 21.

Florio’s take: The Bengals haven’t won a playoff game since destroying Bo Jackson’s hip in a postseason game against the Raiders after the 1990 season. This could be the best way to begin the process of finally exorcising that demon.

Florio’s pick: Bengals 24, Raiders 17.

Ravens at Broncos

MDS’s take: We’ll get our first look at Peyton Manning in Gary Kubiak’s offense, and although I’m expecting some growing pains, I have a feeling Manning will look a lot better early this season than he did late last season.

MDS’s pick: Broncos 31, Ravens 21.

Florio’s take: The Broncos have no issues with starting strong. The challenge is how they finish. While it won’t be nearly as bad as the blowout to start the season from two years ago, Peyton Manning staves off Father Time and the Denver defense under Wade Phillips shows it’s a force to be reckoned with.

Florio’s pick: Broncos 31, Ravens 20.

Giants at Cowboys

MDS’s take: The Cowboys’ running game won’t be quite what it was last year without DeMarco Murray, but the combination of Tony Romo, Dez Bryant, Jason Witten and a great offensive line gives them one of the best passing attacks in the NFL. They’ll put plenty of points on the board against the Giants.

MDS’s pick: Cowboys 35, Giants 24.

Florio’s take: The Cowboys have much more talent and much more skill and much more everything than the Giants, who seem to think every year that they’re on the verge of turning things around but they never quite can.

Florio’s pick: Cowboys 34, Giants 20.

Eagles at Falcons

MDS’s take: For as long as Sam Bradford is healthy, he’ll be a good fit in Chip Kelly’s offense. For now, at least, Bradford is healthy.

MDS’s pick: Eagles 31, Falcons 21.

Florio’s take: With all the talk about whether the Eagles can get it done offensively, most have forgotten that they have a surprisingly good defense. Good enough to outscore a work-in-progress revamping of the Falcons.

Florio’s pick: Eagles 27, Falcons 20.

Vikings at 49ers

MDS’s take: The Vikings will be one of the NFL’s most improved teams, while no team has lost more this offseason than the 49ers. The late Monday night game could get ugly.

MDS’s pick: Vikings 34, 49ers 10.

Florio’s take: Adrian Peterson won’t be a decoy, but look for the offensive coordinator Norv Turner to take full advantage of the home team’s obsession with stopping Peterson.

Florio’s pick: Vikings 30, 49ers 21.

103 responses to “PFT’s Week One picks

  1. The Niners will beat the Vikings. I respect your hard on for your Vikings, Florio, but the Vikings are overrated. Also, the Rams will beat the Seahawks.

  2. Everyone assumes that the Patriots are going to come out and dominate. Did you see Brady in preseason? He was awful. Neither team has much of a D. I expect a high scoring game, maybe 35-31 either way.

  3. The Steelers are one of the few teams not intimidated by Gillette, it should be a good game. I hope they took BSPN’s bait and spent all week fretting about bugs and guys dressed up to look like lockers or benches.

  4. Dolphins are no threat therefore no reason to say much other than Redskins by 14. (By more if RGIII were starting.)

    REDSKINS 12-4 NFC East Winner

NFC Championship Redskins 31 Lions 20
    Superbowl 50 Redskins 42 Bronco 24
    MVP Robert Griffin the 3rd

  5. Like last year – and every year – it’s going to take the Patriots awhile to hit their stride.

It doesn’t help that Brady has been distracted by FrameGate – then again the Steelers and every other team have let Belichick into their heads and probably spent half the week sweeping for bugs – that is when they weren’t leaving playbooks unattended in the open

  6. I disagree with the Ravens/Broncos pics.
    Ravens win 31-20

Old man Peyton shows his age. Crockett Gilmore shows he’s the closest thing to Gronk that there is in the NFL.
    He gets 2 TD’s, book it !

  7. And awayyyyyyyyyyyyyy we go!

Rebuilt secondary + one of the best front 7’s on defense in all of football + one of the best offensive lines in football = a very different outcome than what had happened two years ago.

    Ravens 24
    Broncos 20

  8. I know people just listen to the media, so I’ll fill you in. The Niners haven’t really regressed. They lose Gore, who’s 32, but get Hyde, Bush and Hayne, who’s going to be a beast. They improved at the WR position, and Davis looks better at TE. Their secondary is improved from last year. Where they hurt is at O-line, but Kaeps mobility will get him out of trouble, plus Chryst has installed the read option, which Kaep flourished in. So, again, where did they regress that badly? They will make the playoffs, and they will beat Florio’s overrated Vikings week 1, book it.

  9. Why will the Vikings be improved over last year? They drafted a CB who’s a penalty flag machine early in round 1. Added a deep threat for a QB who can’t throw deep. And if you look at the differences in DVOA between Asiata/Mckinon and Peterson you’ll see Asiata/McKinon actually did a comparable job to “the great AP.”

Add in that they lost Loadholt and still have a pourous OL and a 1-0 punch at safety and you see a team that was maxed out last year achieving 7-9. I have them going 8-8 assuming no one assaults any children this year.

  10. Yes, yes it is an upset to pick a Bills team led by Tyrod Taylor over The Luck led Colts. Especially when your reasoning is that a team didn’t address their most glaring weakness. See Bills QB.

  11. For Cleveland, spin time is over and the cold water of reality rolls in.
McCown is revealed to be ineffective and wears the Jets Defense like a poncho until Manziel is sent to replace him.
The lack of credible receivers and the too few RBs result in an ever unfolding tragedy of multiple three and outs.
The Browns defense is on the field for 43 minutes, wears down, and the Jets believe it’s Super Bowl III all over againin an ugly contest all around 17-10.

  12. I think the Bills, Rams, and Lions have a legitimate chance at upsetting their opponents this week. The Bills offense has a very high cieling as far as being dynamic. The Rams defense is a force to be reckoned with and the Lions are pretty well rounded with a solid QB in his prime.

  13. Both of you seriously think the Bucs are going to beat the Titans? Mariota is exactly the kind of QB that shreds Lovie’s Tampa 2 defense… smart, mobile, and deadly accurate on middle distance throws. And have you seen that Bucs O-Line lately?

  14. Dolphins are no threat therefore no reason to say much other than Redskins by 14. (By more if RGIII were starting.)

    Drugs are bad little guy.

  15. Gimme a break.
Niners D is much better than anyone who’s not been following the team closely expects. Vikings OL is weak, especially on the right side. Norv Turner is not the genius MDS thinks he is, and the Vikings are not the Cinderella team everyone’s been picking them to be.

This is anyone’s game, but the Niners getting blown out by four scores? Not a smart pick.

  16. .
It’s not going to help the Steelers that their owner, Dan Rooney, was outspoken among those advocating the lynching of Tom Brady. The Patriots have a tendency to remember those things.
    .

  17. Nice picks guys, way to stick with the favorites and show your “expertise”. Do you ever pick more than a 3 point underdog?

  18. I’m a Pats fan, but I don’t get the disrepect of the Ravens. They were literally two plays away from beating the Pats, then going to demolish the Colts, and play in the Super Bowl.

They havent really lost much since, so I don’t get why a team that completely fell apart last year in the Broncos is supposed to beat them.

    Ravens should win 28-21.

  19. Prediction: The Steelers will fumble more than the Patriots tonight. 🙂

    ZOMGINFLATEDFOOTBALLS!1!1!1!1!

  20. What has Rex Ryan done as a head coach to give you so much confidence in him? Of course the Bills D will be a top D this year, they were a top D last year. The offense will be moribund though.

  21. “Is it really an upset for a team that was 9-7 and improved in the offseason to beat a team that dominated a weak division, caught a limping Denver team at the right time, got blown out in the AFC title game, and then did nothing to address its most glaring weakness?”

Couldn’t agree more, Florio. In the Luck era, pretty much the same as the Manning era, the Colts are a soft team that undervalues defense, preying upon a weak division and hoping–praying– that they get home field throughout the playoffs so they don’t get exposed by a superior defense in cold weather.

During the Luck era, the Colts are 16-2 against their division, 17-13 against the rest of the league.

They are the biggest frauds in the NFL.

  22. Mr. Florio nailed this one! The Colts ARE NOT that good.

Florio’s take: Is it really an upset for a team that was 9-7 and improved in the off season to beat a team that dominated a weak division, caught a limping Denver team at the right time, got blown out in the AFC title game, and then did nothing to address its most glaring weakness?

    Florio’s pick: Bills 23, Colts 20.

  23. Florio, I liked 2 0f your 3 picks that you differed from Smith.
NEVER pick the Jaguars to win. Ever. If you could bet with an 80% chance of winning every time, you’d do it, right?
Always pick the Jaguars to lose.

  24. Simple game plan for Steelers to win tonight;
    a) shred pay sheets before leaving hotel and locker room
    b) sweep for bugs in locker room
    c) take extra head sets to field
    d) ensure there is no one from “Kraft Productions” on your side line
    e) change signals
    f) employ pressure gauge for Patriots game balls
    g) ensure down markers reflect correct down

There, that should level the playing field, as far as we know.

  25. The lack of respect that the Lions get for losing 1 person is crazy lol…their defense wasn’t just Suh, they still have Quin, Ihedibo, Levy, Tulloch and a lot of creditable people on that defense. And then they said the offense ain’t gone do what it’s supposed to do??? You guys are jokes. Megatron, Tate, Ebron, Furia, Abdulla, Bell, Riddick, Stafford??? This offense is LOADED…they WILL BEAT THE CRAP OUT OF THE CHARGERS THIS SUNDAY

  26. One of the best games I remember Matt Stafford playing was when he torched this Chargers team in 2011.

More weapons this year for the Leos, and the Chargers defense isn’t any scarier now than then. This one could get ugly fast.

    Lions win 41-13

  27. “Adrian Peterson won’t be a decoy, but look for the offensive coordinator Norv Turner to take full advantage of the home team’s obsession with stopping Peterson.”

Take advantage how? With Teddy dink and dunks terrifying 5 yard passes? I think the 49ers will take their chances with stopping Peterson and forcing Teddy to try to beat them.

  28. The Lions D won’t regress as much as you state. Ngata isn’t Suh at this point but he’s still a space eater. Tulloch should help bolster the Run D, when not celebrating Sacks.

I’m thinking that this game is a coin toss. I would expect a few Jump Balls to #81 since he has a 9″ advantage over the two CBs.

Gon be hot… like White Hot.

  29. Good as any I guess at this point Mike. First game of the year is always a crap shoot on picks, but at least have your info correct. Bengals last won a playoff game in 1990, but it wasn’t against the Raiders when Bo blew out his hip. The Raiders won that game only to be destroyed by the Bills in the AFC championship game. GO RAIDERS!!!

  30. “They were literally two plays away from beating the Pats, then going to demolish the Colts, and play in the Super Bowl.”

Didn’t the Colts beat the Ravens last year in a game that really wasnt as close as the score showed? Also can someone remind me of Flacco’s career record in Indy? Im struggling to think of a time he has EVER won there

  31. I like the Jaguars pick. They’re my sleeper this year. Not playoff type but back to respectability like 7-9 even 8-8 competitive. Mariotta is where Bortles was last year and the Texans O doesn’t impress me.

I can see them making some noise in a fairly weak Div.

    -Pats fan

  32. Ha and you guys picked the Vikings to blow the Niners out???
Not sure what your obsession with Minnesota is this year but it won’t take long to figure out that you’re wrong as usual.
Some of these picks are so insane that I cant dignify them by continuing to read this website. I’m taking a break until I come back on Sunday to remind you of how you were wrong about the Lions game.

  33. Still love this site! Thanks for not ruining it like they did at college football talk, it’s awful….

  34. Would you please consider changing the format of this weekly feature? It’s readability is somewhat difficult especially when you’d like to find a specific game at a glance?

    Indentation might work 🙂

  35. Would you please consider changing the format of this weekly feature? Its readability is somewhat difficult especially when you’d like to find a specific game at a glance?

    Indentation might work 🙂

  36. I agree more with Florio’s picks… The 1 that I strongly disagree with is Bucs – Titans….

Whisenhunt will have Mariota ready to exploit that weak Tampa 2 and the Bucs Qb will be sacked 3 times and through 2 Ints…

    Titans 24
    Bucs 10

  37. Big Ben and his 9 points of offense in the first 55 minutes is sure to make this game a Patriots blowout

The Steelers will be down at least 20 points by halftime.

I took the Patriots and gave the 7 and bet the farm and then some.

Easy money when you are talking about Small Ben in Big Games.

  38. The Rams have played the Hawks tough especially in St.Louis and have averaged almost 5 sacks per game against Wilson. Both O-lines are not very good so I think this is a defensive struggle. The Rams winning would not surprise me in the least.

  39. I’m in the minority but I think the Steers have an excellent chance to win tonight. The Pats defense is putrid and even with the suspensions Ben still has enough weapons to have a big night. Just don’t see the Patriots being as strong this year as they have been.

  40. “Didn’t the Colts beat the Ravens last year in a game that really wasnt as close as the score showed? Also can someone remind me of Flacco’s career record in Indy? Im struggling to think of a time he has EVER won there”

I’m thinking he was referring to the inevitable stink job the Colts would lay at home in the playoffs.

Unlike the biggest chokers in the NFL, the Ravens bring it in the playoffs. Congratulations on your September Lombardi trophy.

  41. Unlikely, especially the Lions fans. They are forgetting that they didn’t just lose Suh, they lost Fairley too. The half of their DL that made their defense effective is gone. Their secondary was still mediocre last year and Megatron and Stafford have injury bugs. Stafford is also severely overrated based on just 1-2 solid years. He lives and dies by Megatron and every Transformers fan knows Megatron always gets taken down at some point.

I’m not a lions hater, btw, they are my 2nd favorite team in the NFC north, mostly because the Packers fans are insufferable and the Bears are just boring to watch. I just feel they are due to step back defensively which will bring them back down to a .500 team.

  42. I watched the Jaguars for a game this preseason and was impressed. They’re like the Raiders, not there yet, but getting closer.

The Lions lost Levy. That injury does not help them against my Chargers. The Lions are tough enough that I am worried. I think it will be a hell of a game. Chargers 197 Lions 3.

  43. Unlike the biggest chokers in the NFL, the Ravens bring it in the playoffs. Congratulations on your September Lombardi trophy.

Yea it really seems like the Ravens brought it in the playoffs blowing 2 14 point leads, that is really bringing it and i remember the Ravens with Joe Flacco coming to the biggest chokers stadium in the playoffs a few years ago and losing 20-3. They brought it so much the stadium was sweating bullets considering it took Joe Flacco till the 4th quarter to finally pass the 50 yard line, so keep bringing it guys

  44. NFC NORTH – my thoughts on PFT ratings before the first snap.

Green Bay – A tad overrated. Nelson injury will be a lot harder to overcome than people want to admit.

Chicago- A tad underrated. They are bad but aren’t as bad as folks think. Fox will win a game or two just on better coaching than Trestman.

Detroit- Vastly underrated. An 11 win team a year ago, that lost Suh (and some other scrubs). Suh is great but didn’t make the defense….ie, he was on a lot of bad detroit defenses before last year.

Minnesota- Grossly overrated. Bustwater is captain check down and will be exposed by game 4. Lets not crown them too soon!

  45. Unlike the biggest chokers in the NFL, the Ravens bring it in the playoffs. Congratulations on your September Lombardi trophy.

Side note: Chokers are 10-4 all time vs Ravens and 6-0 at home against them but your right, Ravens just would have rolled right through them because throughout their entire franchise history they have been able to accomplish that, right?

  46. “Yea it really seems like the Ravens brought it in the playoffs blowing 2 14 point leads, that is really bringing it and i remember the Ravens with Joe Flacco coming to the biggest chokers stadium in the playoffs a few years ago and losing 20-3. They brought it so much the stadium was sweating bullets considering it took Joe Flacco till the 4th quarter to finally pass the 50 yard line, so keep bringing it guys”

That was only in Flacco’s 2nd year. And that was also the same postseason when the one time alleged “greatest quarterback of all time” threw a late 4th quarter interception to Tracy Porter in the Super Bowl to lose the game–just as I had predicted.

    Chokers.

  47. That was only in Flacco’s 2nd year. And that was also the same postseason when the one time alleged “greatest quarterback of all time” threw a late 4th quarter interception to Tracy Porter in the Super Bowl to lose the game–just as I had predicted.

    Chokers.

Wouldnt the Ravens be considered Chokers by blowing 2 14 point leads or does the definition of the word choking not apply to them? And since you accurately predicted exactly how that super bowl would end, perhaps you should be working for one of those astrology websites and put your talents to good use.

  48. Bills are going to put up A LOT of points….Colts defense is bad, period.

considering the Colts added 7 new people on defense most of whom excel in stopping the run and the bills have one of the worst quarterback situations in football along with a diva trouble maker wide receiver and a talented wide receiver whose career will be wasted in buffalo, i hardly see the Bills putting up alot of points. Davis (who hasnt allowed a touchdown since dec 2013) will shut down Watkins, Colts will spy Taylor who has done absolutely nothing in his career to this point and Mccoy’s bum hamstring will give out. Buffalo’s Defense will keep the game close for a bit but the Colts have way too much on offense and will wear that D out

    24-9 Colts

    ======================================

There’s no love for the Browns, ever!

    Go Browns!!!

  51. The Pats defense is putrid

Putrid? Granted not as good w out revis and browner but putrid??

Arguably the best front 7 going, top 3 safety and the kid Malcom Butler’s about to tear it up. Only questions marks are the number 2 and 3 CBs.

I’d love to know how that equals putrid.

    Pats 43 – Steelers 27

  52. The Steelers get pounded tonight and they cry cheaters while sobbing into their towels and murmuring the NFl needs to investigate.

No such thing as tipping your cap and acknowledging you got beat by the better team that day then working harder to get better.

This is the age of crying, whining and making excuses and throwing out baseless accusations instead of acting like a man. Games aren’t won on paper or because of reputation. There won between the lines. Pitt lost 2 AFCCG’s at home because they got beat by a better team.

    -Truth

  53. I see Chiefs beating Texans.

I take the Bills with their running game and Grigson’s inability to take the pick he needed over the pick he wanted. That and their stifling Dline will ensure Gore goes nowhere and Luck tries to take it on his back and throws 3 interceptions. Because that’s what he currently does best.

Panther over Jags because seriously… Jags.

Upset? I see Rams beating Seattle in a close one.

Also, Browns beat Jets… Or maybe my bias is showing on this one, lol.

Kind of reminds you of the Hawks in their last SB doesn’t it?

  58. Good match up for the Bills in week 1 – they may not have to throw a single pass in the entire game. Seriously.

As for the Viking venom on here – I like that team. Tomsula will fire up the guys like a college coach, but there is no way the 3-13 9ers win it.

  59. Lol @ the same Packer Trolls trying to rip down the Vikings. They would rather post a foolish comment on the Vikings then discuss their own team!!
Fact- Vikings will be improved, yet we are 1 year away from really being dangerous!
The O-line has taken huge hits and the season hasn’t begun! That could make or break this team!
Captain check down???? Teddy B has started what? 11-12 games in his young career? He has everything you look for in a young QB prospect, and will be our Guy for many years! He has proven that be can read a D, he already is making pre snap adjustments, and has a high completion percentage. I will take his 7-9yd average all day long, he can throw the deep ball all day long!
Did you people watch my beloved Tom Brady destroy the steelers tonight?? He is the GOAT & he is a what do you call it ” dink & dunk” QB , and If Teddy can emulate his game after Tom, you will get zero arguments from people in MN or people that understand the game of football! I never thought my Vikings would be in a position to draft Teddy, but we were completely blessed. Thankfully 3-4 other teams choked on that one, and now we have our Super Bowl caliber QB for years to come!
The reason why the ” experts” see an improved Vikings team is because we are getting very deep in all positions. We are 1 year away from really making some noise!
We will have a top 5 ranked D. Biggest question Mark is can out O-line hold up until we get sully back! We might need to make a trade to shore up the Line! A move that should have been done several weeks ago!!!
    Vikings 31-
    49ers – 17

  60. Overrated teams- Seattle, Indy, Green Bay, Dallas, Arizona ,Denver
Underrated teams- Detroit, Miami, Minnesota, Philly
Buffalo is a QB away from being a scary good team!
Washington, Cleveland, Jacksonville, Tampa, Oakland, San Fran, are all teams that will either be much improved , or total horseshyt

  61. Even though Mike is fixed picking the bills to beat the Colts, he used the argument that he’s using against the Colts against the Carolina Panthers. How did that work out?

Also, what easy schedule did they have? They beat Baltimore and Cincinnati. Plus, when they were worse in 2013, they beat the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks and Super Bowl runner-up Denver Broncos. After all, 6 divisional games does not equal 16. Clearly his math has gone to hell.

To be frank, I have my doubts with the Seattle Seahawks versus the St. Louis Rams because Kam Chancellor’s absence will hurt them. Plus the Rams are at home and the Rams beat a depleted Seattle Seahawks team at home last year.

  62. I agree with everything vyke4lyfe says. Also its notable to mentioned he suffered from a brain contusion before posting his comments. Vikings!! Hahah. Bridegwater could not even read the newspaper let alone defenses.
