Headset issues have arisen in Pittsburgh, too

Getty Images

The Steelers think the Patriots cheated by tampering with headset communications on Thursday night at Gillette Stadium. But the headsets haven’t been perfect in Pittsburgh, either.

After the Steelers beat the Jets in the AFC Championship Game in January of 2011, the Jets said they were having problems communicating at Heinz Field. Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez said the problems were something he hadn’t previously encountered.

“It never really happened for that long of a time,” Sanchez said. “We had to use a walkie-talkie at one point and [offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer] was just yelling calls in at one point. It was just another challenge, and we almost overcame it.”

Sanchez said the headsets in Pittsburgh failed repeatedly.

“The problem was the headset kept going out multiple times during the game,” Sanchez said, “so I had to run over and get a couple calls, piece together some calls on the headset that came in broken up. It was one of those things we were fighting through. I was proud of our guys for trying to piece it together.”

So what’s the difference between that problem the Jets had in Pittsburgh, and the problem the Steelers had last night in New England? The biggest difference seems to be that the Jets didn’t accuse the Steelers of any wrongdoing, and Jets coach Rex Ryan said after the game that the communications issue wasn’t the reason the Jets lost the game. The Steelers haven’t been so accommodating toward the Patriots in the wake of last night’s loss.

  1. Uh, no.

The biggest difference is a pattern of this stuff by the Pats.

You had to go back to 2011 to find this.

We could go to last night, last season, the season before, etc to find MULTIPLE instances of it happening at Gillette.

  2. I don’t think it had much effect, the Steelers put up almost 500 yards on the Pats and should have had 35+ points. Neither of these teams are going anywhere with those “defenses” (if you can call them that).

  3. The opening sentence to this article is false. Nobody from the Steelers organization indicated that the Patriots cheated last night. Nobody. Not a soul. A website described the problem and now the media is spinning it.

  4. Are you ready for this EVERY. SINGLE. GAME. NFL fans? You dug your own grave on this one by feeding the NFL narrative the Pats cheat about everything.

  5. I heard one of the toilets was plugged up also. That definitely helped determine the outcome of the game.

  6. Do the Steelers have a history of radio issues aside from this because the Patriots do. There is such a thing as equipment malfunction but it seems to happen a lot in New England.

  7. The difference is the Steelers are in the AFC North. They learned from their division rivals that all you have to do is whine endlessly about the Patriots and you’ll find a willing ear in the ESPNFL-led media.

  8. And Belichick wont correct them either, or comment on it. Because the more time people spend on stupid stuff like sweeping for bugs or checking their headsets is time they are not spending preparing for the game.

  9. Quick Pittsburgh, jump on the “excuse” bandwagon. Thanks for writing this article, its nice to see fair journalism.

  10. I’m not saying NE was cheating, but there’s a big difference between a signal cutting in and out and the Patriots radio broadcast being sent through the steelers headsets.

  11. So if I’m reading this right…the Patriots cheated in the 2011 AFC Championship game by helping the Steelers by interfering with the Jets headsets? Is there no end to what that organization is capable of ?

  12. This is the culture Belichek has built. Everything out of the ordinary will now be questioned.

Sadly they could have had unquestioned greatness. But for their own doings and attitudes it will always be questioned.

    Too bad

  13. The patriots have not done anything, ever, to deserve such an accommodation… especially when it comes to earning the benefit of the doubt with cheating allegations.

The NFL has a serious problem with this club in Foxboro.

  14. It’s as if the NFL wants to manipulate games by controlling teams’ headsets.

Why doesn’t each time run their own headsets? I promise it is NOT all that difficult.

Put the control in each team’s hands – and if their headsets don’t work then oh well.

The way the system is designed now, the NFL has direct influence of the headsets – and allegedly the Patriots as well.

But if each team controlled their own headsets, then the NFL would lose control and thus the ability to manipulate the games.

    Interesting, huh?

Conspiracies are the spice of life.

  15. The*** New**** England**** Patriots***

Steelers defense is garbage too so both sides can’t win, the Steelers can’t win without a D and Pats can’t win without cheating

  16. Update!

Chris Carter just phoned Tomlin and said, “good job, you made the headphones the “fall guy” for losing.

  17. The league, not the teams, control the communications systems.
    ___________________________________
But Kraft and Goodell are so in bed together! It’s a conspiracy they helped the pats cheat here! But not on the Deflategate thing. Oh god I don’t even know what I’m saying anymore. But I know the Pats cheat! About everything! Fact!

  18. Uhhh Nobody says it cant happen at other stadiums. Chances are its happened a couple times at EVERY single stadium in the league.

At Gillette, however, its far too common. Dont be naive.

  19. This is the league Roger Goodell has created. A league of crybabies. It’s only going to get worse from here. It’s not about winning or losing on the field like men, it’s about crying about cheating. Pathetic. The NFL has gotten really sad.

  20. I’ll also say, these officials are the absolute worst (okay, a close second to NBA officials but they’re closing the gap.

The pass interference call in the end zone on the Steelers was pathetic.

Then the illegal hands to the face solely because the DE on the Pats didn’t tighten his helmet enough and it popped off. I mean, he sacked Big Ben pretty much untouched the next play and his helmet popped off again..

The NFL officiating is very questionable and it’s hard not to believe that they don’t have a horse in the race.

  21. Really, this is the culture that Tomlin has built

Everything out of the ordinary will now be questioned

If he isn’t walking out on to the field to blatantly trip players running for touchdowns, he’s grasping for excuses as to why he didn’t know the rules

News flash – defensive lines shift ALL the TIME – especially in goal line situations.

Tomlin may think this is an “unwritten rule” – and if so, let’s just give Belichick a “list” of all the unwritten rules

But Tomlin doesn’t know the ACTUAL rules – and yes Mike – that means that coaches can’t walk out on to the field mid play and trip an opposing player running for a touchdown!

    LEARN THE RULES!

  22. In a stadium full of 70,000 people and reporters, all with cell phones and laptops, you can’t expect the equipment to work reliably 100% of the time. I know I’ve heard of this kind of stuff happening at other stadiums before throughout the years, but when it involves the Patriots everybody suddenly jumps on the bandwagon calling it “cheating”

  23. First off, is it not Christmas for Mike Florio and PFT all the time? Mike and PFT are the most watchable of all the football shows. Can’t wait to see an amused Rodney Harrison shake his head on these issues come Monday.

Some have suggested the NFL investigate – itself! We all know how this went when former FBI Director Mueller investigated his friend Roger over the Ray Rice scandal. NFL did no wrong – then.

Pavlov would have been salivating over the prospect of getting to his conditioned response theory using real people (haters) instead of dogs.

  24. This is absolutely priceless!

All of the whining about “cheating” with regard to taking advantage of loop holes (using the eligible/ineligible, and the DL synchronized shift as examples) reminds me of when I played basketball. We had a coach that taught us, that when a player is going to take a shot, to throw your hand toward his “junk”. Players rarely have the concentration to take a shot when their vision is telling them they are about to get punched in the nuts. There was no rules against it. But I guess we would all be considered giant cheaters for doing something unconventional and effective. All the whining makes me sick

  25. It would appear that New England is going to willingly accept the bad guy role. I’m not sure it’s a good idea to feed into it.

  26. Wait.

You do realize a single instance from 4 years ago is different from an ongoing pattern year end and year out.

    Right?

I mean, do you get paid to carry the Patriots water now?

  27. Steelers aren’t “convicted cheaters” and don’t have a history of headset problems. Patriots have been cheating since Belichick took the reigns.

  28. NFL should take some of that $42M a year they give Roger and invest in a better communication system.

  29. you know youre pathetic when the jets take a loss more like a man than your team. steelers made plays but repeatedly shot themselves in the foot. thats why they lost. i guess blame headsets from those constantly “cheating” patriots though

  30. All these complainers and whiners are just getting out coached and outplayed. Bill and Tom really are that much better than everyone else.

  31. The complete lack of understanding of

A.) The Pats provide the headsets (which are themselves provided by a sponsor) but they are CONTROLLED by the league

B.) That this is a rumor about several teams going back since the start of the use of headset communication

C.) That the Patriots were also having radio problems

Shows that, not only are the Pats in the heads of teams and their fans to an extent not seen since Red Aurbach, but that the average NFL fan is really dumb.

  32. reasons the Steelers lost last night
    1-Classless Tomlin is Head coach
    2-no Dick LeBeau
    3-poor tackling
    4-poor kicking
    5-poor defence
    6-failed trick plays
    7-suspended players
    ……
    reason 1001- poor headset communications…..

  33. “I’m not saying NE was cheating, but there’s a big difference between a signal cutting in and out and the Patriots radio broadcast being sent through the steelers headsets.”
    ————————————–

also not very knowledgeable in the basic science of audio frequency and communications. Can’t really send a particular signal INTO a headset. You can set the headset to receive a certain channel. From an electronics standpoint it’s very possible the exact same thing was going on there just wasn’t anything on the frequency at the Jets game.

    but whatever, keep talking

  34. Steelers lost that game because (1) their defense was ill-prepared and confused all night, and (2) their kicker can’t reliably kick makeable FG’s. They did not lose because their coaches had trouble communicating with each other in the first 14 minutes of the game, during which the Patriots scored ZERO points. Quit whining. Play better.

  35. whatever, have the headsets malfunctioned EVERY TIME the Steelers played a home game?

    NO

Have the headsets malfunctioned EVERY time a team visited Foxboro?

    YES

    asterisk

  36. “The league, not the teams, control the communications systems.”

    Sigh.

They provide the equipment. But ANYONE – yes even you – can jam a single.

The NFL does not control the air waves. With less than 300$ worth of equipment (and assuming you could get it in the stadium) you can screw with a team’s radio single.

It’s not hard. Illegal. But not hard. And the NFL has no control over it.

  38. Patriots continue to be in everyone’s heads just the way they like it. LOL. Just love how everyone is crying this morning.

  39. I love how the rest of the NFL always make excuses why they got beat by the Pats. Do you really think that the Pats would do that right now, after all the crap they’ve gone through in the past 8 months and the crap SI and ESPN put out this week??? Please. Hey Tomlin, I’m sure the headsets had something to do with a stupid decision to run a double pass while you were moving the ball at will. I’m sure it had something to do with you defense leaving Gronk all by himself. I’m sure it something to do with your receiver standing out of bounds while catching a lay up TD… Get of it Mr. I didn’t know I was on the field on the kick return.

  40. @rushmore86

    Wow. WE are at fault?

Patriots aside I don’t understand how the management of these situations by the NFL (i.e. – God-L) is not obviously flawed and corrupted. Are you guys reading all the articles on PFT or do you just cherrypick the pro-Patriots or anti-Patriots articles?

This league is run by a boob and he’s burning it all down. Every single solitary problem in the NFL over the past 5 years has been buttfumbled by Goodell.

Folks, the NFL is in charge of the headsets and amongst the scrutinies of the Patriots organization the NFL cannot get functional headsets operating on the kickoff of the season? Can you not see how pathetic that is?

Either the Patriots ARE unabashed cheaters or the NFL can’t do anything right anymore.

Yet somehow us fans are to blame? I can’t even.

  41. There was an issue with the headsets and the headsets are controlled by Roger Goodell. Seems pretty simple that Goodell was continuing his smear campaign of the Patriots to turn the media and everyone against them forever.

Hopefully someone from the league office comes clean so we can start the defamation law suit.

  42. Let’s not forget how Tomlin flagrantly cheated by stepping onto the field to impede a kick returner a few years back. If BB had done that, people would still be talking about it.

  43. Belichick would probably be in prison if he wasn’t coaching. I don’t think he can control himself. I think he’s a sick man. But teams should always have a backup plan in case the headsets don’t work. The Steelers would have been better off if the headsets were broken when that flea-flicker was called. That had a huge impact on the outcome of the game.

  44. I find it weird that the Steelers are whining about cheating when all of their guys in the 70s were juicing harder than any other team in history.

4 roid-infused championships in 6 years versus 4 illegal-tape and deflated-ball championships in 15 years feels like the Steelers got away with more than the Pats did.

I don’t think either team deserves an asterisk. They won their championships while cheating at the time and not getting caught. I say congratulations, because it’s not like the other teams weren’t cheating also.

Cheating without getting caught is the name of the game in EVERY major sport; and if you think otherwise you are a complete, hopeless sucker that’s so enamored by the illusion of fairness that you refuse to acknowledge the truth of cheating. Even when it’s slapping you in the face on a daily basis.

  45. What is really pathetic is the people running this site know damned well the NFL controls team communication equipment. That any problems are resolved by NFL officials at the games. And any fan who’s actually a fan of this league knows that almost every game day there’s a game where technical glitches affect the communication systems of one or both teams and it’s been this way since the first day they starting using headsets to communicate.

  46. This is a classic false equivalency and transparent click bait. The Jets one-time problem in Heinz field has never been reported by anyone else. The Pats have been accused of doing this habitually. The Jets tell no story about the problem “clearing up” every time a league official stepped on the field. Because the Steelers do not have a history of cheating, and the Patriots do have a proven track record of cheating, the Steelers deserve the benefit of doubt. Quite simply, the Patriots don’t.

  47. Hmmmm….so this one incident in 2011 versus a chronic problem in New England?

If it was a rare occurrence, I’d buy it. Same operator who fooled with the scoreboard against the Ravens likely causes the interference issues as well.

Until the League cares about the integrity, it will continue to be a problem. I knew destroying the evidence in 2007 was shady. This entire thing is a farce.

  48. “From the start of the game through the opening 14 minutes of the first quarter, the Steelers’ coaches’ headsets were receiving the Patriots Radio Network broadcast of the game. The broadcast was so loud that the Steelers coaches were unable to communicate, and the NFL rule is that if one team’s headsets are not working the other team is supposed to be forced to take their headsets off. It’s what the NFL calls the Equity Rule. Strangely enough, whenever an NFL representative proceeded to the New England sideline to shut down their headsets, the Steelers headsets cleared. Then as the representative walked away from the New England sideline, the Steelers’ headsets again started to receive the Patriots game broadcast”

NOT EVEN CLOSE TO THE SAME THING. The Patriots Radio Broadcast of the Game? That’s not a technical difficulty. Someone has to physically funnel that broadcast over the headset system for that to happen.

  50. Redskins go out all the time…in DC! Is this a conspiracy we should look into?

Any one thing happens in foxboro and I swear people start talking about jet fuel and steel beams.

  51. If the headsets are controlled by the league then this obviously is another sting operation. The NFL repeatedly disrupts/disconnects the Steelers headsets, and then the blame goes to the Pats! The next move is to bring in make up a bunch of lies, hire Ted Wells, and use their media hacks to disseminate false information.
    Brilliant!

  52. Wow! I remember a few years ago the Steeler’s were telling the Seahawks to quit the wining after that poor excuse for officiating in the Super Bowl. Seems everything comes full circle eventually!

  53. It makes sense that Tomlin is the premier WHINE expert since his team is now in the AFCN basement aka the WHINE Cellar. Have a snickers, skippy. It’s going to be a long season but not that long. Just 16 more weeks to gather up more excuses when you finish in 4th place. LOL.

In Crybaby America, no one can have “unquestioned greatness”. All accomplishments must be vilified to mollify the underachievers so that no one “feels” inferior.

  55. The biggest difference seems to be that the Jets didn’t accuse the Steelers of any wrongdoing
    ========================================

You mention only one game as an example. The difference is that is is a common occurrence at Gillette stadium, not a one game anomaly. And that teams proven history of being caught cheating.

  56. Patriots History of cheating? I seem to remember Tomlin walking on the field to stop a touchdown.

That was pretty blatant to me. Plus Tomlin whines all the time anyways.

  57. The media and everyone outside of NE doesn’t care what the other teams do, they only care about what they “think” the Patriots do

  58. With today’s technology why is this a problem? It would be completely stupid for the patriots to do something like this and I for one don’t believe the patriots did anything wrong . not to sound like there is some sort of conspiracy but is it possible if someone such as a fan jamming their signal and pumping in the game feed into their frequency . Ever been on a phone call and you can hear someone else’s conversation even though they can hear yours? And I am a fan of neither the two teams that played last night

  59. It happens in every Stadium, unfortunately, in New England it happens on a regular basis for whatever reason. The fact that you have to go back 4 years to find this incident happening Pittsburgh should tell you there’s something going on in New England, and it needs to be addressed.

Just think if the Patriot’s had a team doctor like that. Stay classy Pittsburgh and congratulations for joining the Colt’s as being the biggest whiners for continually losing to the Patriot’s. Oh I forgot to mention, you have joined the Ravens in the whining club for crying cheater when the Patriot’s used a legal play! Big Ben in a post game interview said he saw the patriot’s do that during film study but I guess it did not register in his head. Like so many, he is now programmed to cry cheater when you lose to the Patriot’s.

  62. Key line from the NFL Press Release “The coaches’€™ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day. ”

FOXBORO — After there were issues with the Steelers’ headsets during Thursday’s game with the Patriots at Gillette Stadium and Steelers coach Mike Tomlin was very upset, the NFL released a statement late Thursday night.

Via NFL spokesman Michael Signora, the NFL said the issue was because of a power infrastructure issue at the stadium.

The statement reads: In the first quarter of tonight’€™s game, the Pittsburgh coaches experienced interference in their headsets caused by a stadium power infrastructure issue, which was exacerbated by the inclement weather. The coaches’€™ communications equipment, including the headsets, is provided by the NFL for both clubs use on game day. Once the power issue was addressed, the equipment functioned properly with no additional issues.

  63. Steelers fans need a Whaaambulence

We are sorry Tomlin was not allowed to tackle or trip anyone

  64. This was not only predicted but quite predictable. Thanks to Trip & NBC for making sure that there would be a new reason to be bad sports.

With the easy availability of information there are already reports like this and more will come in.

It won’t matter to those who cannot abide the Patriots success. There is no proof for zealots. They complain that this was waaay back in 2011 but have no issues with going back to 2006 if it suits their childish idiotic notions that only cheaters could beat them. I hope the 31 are listening since each week now we will hear about how a team didn’t lose but were cheated by the opponent or the refs or whatever.

Trip Tomlin is about the lowest form of life right now. A guy who cheats by tripping, doesn’t cover Gronk (of all people), 10 players on defense, horrible clock management inside 2 minuntes, has 2 big drops, a catch out of bounds, 500yards of offense and 2missed field goals is saying what he’s saying?

And yet he was lights out. 19 straight completions…4 TDs. 79% completion percentage and a 145 QB rating.

Yes….the haters are feeling butt-hurt this morning.

  76. Lets throw a couple of more “theories” in while we are here.

    2) The ring that Bob Kraft “gave to Vladamir Putin was not stolen. It was compensation for Putin teaching the Patriots some of his old electronic bugging techniques from when he was the head of the KGB.

  77. What a bunch of idiots accusing the Pats. Did you bother to read or to look to see that the NFL, NOT THE PATRIOTS provide the headsets to BOTH teams on game day. Even the NFL said as much this morning.

  78. Sore Losers!! The headsets carved up the steelers D for (4) touchdowns…. The headsets couldn’t stop The Gronk!!!

The ref’s cheated, the patriots cheated, it rained only on the Steelers offense, the patriots cheated to make the Steelers play with 10 guys on defense. Gronk hypnotized the defense into leaving him virtually uncovered. Watch the replay of that sack on Ben. His elbow clearly catches the DE’s facemask and lifts it up off his head. There used to be a time when whiners and excuse makers were frowned upon as being unsportsmanlike. Now a days it’s encouraged. Pathetic statement on the American sports fan and participants of today. I personally find it disgusting. I find the media who feeds the frenzy despicable.

10 years 160+ games. 5 incidents. It happens all over the NFL. ESPN addressed it in an article in 2012 and they had so many examples the Pats werent even mentioned in it.

  83. The steelers?? No wayyy!!

Is this the same franchise whose team doctor got caught with$150k worth of hgh and roids? Also their head of securitys nickname
Is “the cleaner” for covering up off field incidents. But i thought Pitt were sooo clean

  84. If that’s NFL Defense who didn’t cover Gronk. Tomlin could’ve had 2 headsets, it wouldn’t have made any difference. 10 guys on D? Gronk wide open in the seam? Stop making excuses and prepare for situational football!

  85. The Titans had headset problems during the preseason. I knew those pesky Patriots didn’t want the Titans winning that preseason game! Sabotage!

I’m sure it’s not uncommon for headsets to malfunction in every stadium around the league at some point or another. No one talks about it unless the Patriots are involved. Pretty sad.

  86. Enough is enough haters. The Patriots and any other home team does not control the communications. The Ginger Hammer and his minions control it. Yes the league owns it. I know it saddens all of you to have to find this out because it doesn’t fit into your narrative. By the way why we are at it just check out Tom Brady’s stats post deflate game. The 2nd half of the AFC championship, the SB and last night. They are great and the reason is that the balls are the same because there is no smoking gun that the balls were ever tampered with.

  87. Uh, no.

The biggest difference is a pattern of this stuff by the Pats.

You had to go back to 2011 to find this.

We could go to last night, last season, the season before, etc to find MULTIPLE instances of it happening at Gillette.

    160 460
    ————–

Deadspin listed ~half a dozen instances:
2006: Patriots security staff audio interferes with the Jaguars’ coach-to-QB communication system at “crucial moments” during a playoff game.

2007: The Patriots are investigated for using unapproved communication frequencies to interfere with the New York Jets’ headset system.

2008: Karlos Dansby accuses the Patriots of tampering with the Cardinals’ headset system.

2011: Jack Del Rio has his Jaguars team practice without headset communications, as “that tends to happen in New England.”

…Most of these teams weren’t exactly the iron of the league and seem very sporatic.

Other reports have shown issues in New Orleans and Arizona. This has been called an intermittent problem around the league.

  88. Steelers defense is garbage too so both sides can’t win, the Steelers can’t win without a D and Pats can’t win without cheating

…and the Ravens apparently can’t win without curling up beside a nice warm fire while sipping on warm deer antler spray as they read the rule book.

  89. anyone who didn’t know there would be a setup attempt doesn’t understand how vindictive the NFL can be

as pats fans we should feel one way,

bring it, only helps the pats if they think you’re cheating since BB owns all your little minds already.

    put that in your *

  90. Patriots Fans: Breakout the kevlar underware…

Here we go again, with another whiney, crybaby coach beaten but the genius of Bill.

Now, each and every team that leaves Gillette with a Loss in hand is going to have lost because the Patriots somehow cheated…

Will they ever look at how they played the game? In this case, the Steelers clearly choked in the Red Zone, missing two field goal attempts…

When you don’t capitalize on scoring opportunities, then of course the Patriots cheated…

Keep up the mantra, keep fueling Tom Brady and team to reach an even higher level of excellence…

Can’t wait for Lombardi #5, what a way to celebrate Super Bowl L (50)

Steelers aren’t “convicted cheaters” and don’t have a history of headset problems. Patriots have been cheating since Belichick took the reigns.

    ————————————-

This is what you call an under-educated response. Pats have been convicted one time for spygate (its legal to tape other teams by the way. Just not from certain angles). Steelers’ coach has been convicted of going on the field during a play to trip a player. To me, Mr. Rocket Scientist, that 1 to 1.

The Pats are the equivalent to the dreaded Yankees, the late 80s “bad boy” Pistons, the Oakland Raiders. They win it on the field and everyone hates it for them.

After BB and TB retire and time goes on, people will realize how what a football mastermind BB is. He is far-and-away ahead of everyone else and can only be compared to old-skool coaches from the 70s. These coaches do not exist today.

  92. So the steelers radios have issues also.
maybe the should trade the terrible towel in for a huge whining blanket.
    Cry me a river.
when the Steelers won super bowls they didn’t cry.

  93. Wow….. I mean really!!
I have read a lot about this all day and for what I cn see the media has you people hook line and sinker. To me this is really a lot of hot air about nothing. This story has been twisted into so many different directons I have to give it to the media.
One thing I find interesting is that out of eveerything Coach Tomlin said everyone seems to be stuck on the ” headset issues” and nothing else. I don’t know about anyone one else but I thought I heard him say quote ” They were the better team tonight” or maybe it was just me. When he made the comment about communitcation issues i thought he was refering to where the guys were suppose to line up and there assignments. I guest I didn’t read into as some type way to make excuses and calling someone cheats. Then again everyone hears what they want.
As to the game..if just talking about on the field the way I see it they ( Steelers) got beat. But I wouldnt celebrate Pat’s fans. I mean the Steelers were moving the ball at will and if it wasn’t for shooting themselves in the foot so many different times we could be havving a different discussion. For a team to have made so many mistakes on Def. and some Off. and still have almost 500yds of Off., leave 2 miss fgs, and Td on the field then lost by 7pts. Clearly New England has somethings they need to work on Defense. Btw all this without Bell, Pouncey or Bryant.

  94. OMG freeking cry babies.

    Get over it.
Take the damn electronics out of the freeking game and play the game.

  95. Pat’s fans,
    Get used to it.
Every Pat’s win is due to cheating and every opponent’t win is due to skill.

That is the way it is going to be from now own.
Don’t bother to humor the losers by arguing with them because they can’t hear.

I watched the deflategate thing from the beginning and read so many people try to reason with the haters and NOT ONE TIME DID IT WORK.

It is a waste of time, so ignore the haters and answer on the field.

  96. Pat’s fans,

You might as well get used to it.

Every Pat’s win is due to cheating and every opponent’t win is due to skill.

That is the way it is going to be from now own.
Don’t bother to explain to the losers because they can’t hear.

I watched the deflategate thing from the beginning and read so many people try to reason with the haters and NOT ONE TIME DID IT WORK.

It is a waste of time, so ignore the haters and answer on the field.

  97. I lost a lot of respect for Tomlin last night.

He went to the Mike knowing one of his coaches assaulted a fan and then tossed allegations of made up issues to the thirsty, incompetent media.

Pittsburgh used to be a sports town. Apparently now it is just a good theatre town.

  98. The difference between the Steelers and Patriots is that the Patriots had TapeGate and InflateGate. So when things happen with the Patriots, they have a history of cheating. The Patriots were caught recording coaches sending in signals. The NFL attributed to the Patriots cheating scandal by destroying tapes and files. There was evidence that they recorded the Steelers coaches sending in plays. What we don’t know is if they also had a playbook, recorded practices or walk through’s or any other illegally obtained information.

  99. Anyone that uses headsets can tell you, there’s a distinct difference between head sets that have a short in the wire, causing audio to randomly go out, and having a broadcast of a radio channel phasing in and out in your headset.

What the league should do, is allow the teams to have their own headsets and system, that they supply for themselves, not some headsets that the league issue to the teams. that would end the ridiculous conspiracy theories.

  100. We have a new No. 1 whiner fanbase.

Used to be Raiders fans talking about a Tuck Rule called against them, clueless to the fact that the very same Tuck Rule was called AGAINST the Patriots earlier in that same season (Jets game, when Vinny Testeverde “fumbled” and they let Jets keep the ball).

The new Number One Whiner Fanbase is now Pittsburgh crying about headsets, again clueless as to who controls them (the NFL), and the fact that if one side’s headsets go out, the other side’s headsets are immediately shut off so there is no advantage either way. Congrats on your title Pittsburgh.
