As expected, the Lions won’t have linebacker and defensive leader DeAndre Levy for Sunday’s season opener in San Diego. The Lions had listed Levy, who hasn’t practiced in almost three weeks, as doubtful on their Friday injury report.

Josh Bynes will start in Levy’s place.

Among the other inactive players for the Lions is wide receiver T.J. Jones, who’s listed on the team’s depth chart as the No. 1 kick returner and punt returner. Rookie running back Ameer Abdullah and/or veteran receiver Golden Tate could work as return men.

Tight end Ladarius Green will play for the Chargers. He was questionable due to concussion-like symptoms and the Chargers signed veteran tight end John Phillips this week in case Green couldn’t go.
