Karlos Williams scores first NFL TD, Bills up 17-0

The Bills offense showed up ready to play in Week One.

Running back Karlos Williams ran 26 yards for a touchdown with under 30 seconds to play in the first half, Tyrod Taylor threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin and the Bills lead the Colts 17-0 after the first half of play of the 2015 season. Williams’s touchdown came on the first touch of his NFL career and gave a fired-up crowd at Ralph Wilson Stadium even more to celebrate after a half that went just about as well as possible for Buffalo.

Taylor was 9-of-11 for 147 yards and added a 31-yard run off a scramble to set up Williams’s score. The run game never caught fire, but there could be some bigger running lanes in the final 30 minutes after Taylor gave the Colts plenty to worry about in the first two quarters.

The Colts have plenty to worry about on the other side of the ball as well. They picked up 147 yards and nine first downs in the first half, but Andrew Luck threw an interception, the offensive line committed several penalties and the Bills pass rush has been consistently effective. Luck finished the half 11-of-23 and no one on the Colts’ side has looked all that comfortable against the Buffalo defense.

The only drawbacks for the Bills on that side of the ball have been injuries to safety Corey Graham and cornerback Ron Darby, who became the first Bill since Donte Whitner in 2006 to have an interception in his NFL debut. Graham won’t return with a concussion while Darby left with a leg injury late in the half.
