Roddy White thinks Dez Bryant is done for the year

Falcons receiver Roddy White thinks we are “complete asswholes.” He also thinks the Cowboys are going to have a hard time chasing glorywhole.

Appearing on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio, White said that he thinks Dallas receiver Dez Bryant won’t be back in 2015.

“Me and Julio [Jones] were talking about the whole situation,” White said. “When [Jones] heard that [Bryant] broke his foot he was like, ‘He’s got the same injury I got.’ And, you know, we had to shut [Julio] down for the whole entire year. So I just don’t see him making it back this year.”

It’s an opinion hardly influenced by medical facts. But how is that any different from doctors who have never treated or evaluated Dez from suggesting how long he’ll be out?

Either way, no one knows how long Dez will be gone. And no one knows if he’ll be healthy when he returns, especially if he comes back too soon.

  1. Bad news if you’re a Cowboys fan. Without Demarco Murray their Super Bowl run rested heavily on his shoulders. I wasn’t at all impressed with the trio of guys that ran the rock Sunday night. Maybe they should look at Randy Moss.

  2. “how is that any different from doctors who have never treated or evaluated Dez from suggesting how long he’ll be out?”

It’s different because those doctors have years and years of medical training. I’m pretty sure Roddy and Julio aren’t working on their MD in the offseason.

  3. Its definitely a bummer for the Boyz. My initial thoughts were that he’d be out at least until the end of the season. Foot injuries that require surgery are very difficult to heal and unfortunately you can’t just play through it.

Another component of the foot injury is that once it is ready to go, the injured should wait a couple weeks and strength train the rest of the legs and muscles that have been neglected during the healing process.

Rushing back to soon could cause a lot of problems.

  4. Dez initially is said to be out for 4 weeks. They play the Falcons in two weeks. What genius thinks that it’s wishful thinking? Roddy and Julio is just talking about their experience.

  5. Julio Jones is a sissy that won’t play injured. Dez Bryant could have gone on IR a few years back with a broken hand, but the guy played. Yes, yes, the foot is a different story, but if anyone can come back earlier than expected, its Dez, and I’m by NO means a Cowboys fan.

  6. Foot injuries linger. I would suspect he does return at some point, but I also think he will struggle all season because of it. He won’t be the same all year

  7. I think its easy to say that he can not recover from this when someone like Adrian Peterson defied all medical laws as he quickly recovered from his ACL. Sometimes people that are physical specimens such as that has the ability to heal faster or even against all odds.
This is coming from a person who as baby was told I would never walk, or utilize my lower extremities, but however 22 years later, that is not the case.

You can throw a broken hand, wrist or thumb in a cast and play. (I’ve done it) Maybe not totally effectively, but you can be out there.

You cannot play with a broken foot.

  9. Feel bad for anyone who gets injured and the feet are really tough for obvious reasons. Its a sucky feeling when you are hobbled by a foot injury and you can’t even walk without being in pain.

That being said… Even with Dez… The Cowboys are simply not a good team! Subtract the final drive against the brain-dead Giants, and it was impressive to see, but we saw a team that was mediocre at best for a majority of that game.

The rushing attack? Where was it? When so many made statements such as “With that O-Line, I could get a 100 yards a game!”…. Its evident that they will not instill fear in any defenses mind on the ground and now the air as well.

    There is just nothing there…

  10. Isn’t it a similar injury to Kevin Durant’s? Really difficult to heal that part of the foot due to less blood circulation, I don’t doubt he’s out for the year.

Minus that last drive…or the drive before that, heck minus the drives were dallas shot themselves in the foot that led to the 17 points on turnovers….dallas STILL WINS!

find a way to win! good teams do that!

  12. It would be typical arrogance by the boys for Dez to ignore doctors and return before it’s prudent and make this a lingering problem where he’s never the same.

  13. Julio reinjured the same bone in his foot a few years earlier and had to have harware removed and the reinserted so it complicated his recovery also happened deeper in the season so the had to shut him down, think Dez will still miss 6 more games though, he will be ready for playoff run.

  14. The hate is flowing deep. That’s ok. You all will have to remove your foot from your mouth when the Cowboys take the East again…even with Bryant out 8 games.

  15. it should be NOTED that JONES broke his foot (2nd injury to same foot) after the 7th game of the 2013 season – the RESULT was being shut down for the year, rather than come back for one or two games at the end of the year – 8 weeks is the recovery time on this injury

  16. it should be noted that Equipment Failure is one of the biggest causes of stress fractures or broken metas in the foot.

Dez changed over to a Jordan shoe (not to mention his lack of off-season conditioning) that may have been a primary factor in his current injury

  17. At this point there is one WR who is available and could instill fear in opponent’s secondaries. Randy Moss!! Just try him out!!

  18. A few differences in Dez/Julio

    1) Julio already had pins in his foot from previous injury
    2) Julio was hurt in Week 5. Complications from #1 lengthened the recovery estimate.
    3) Falcons were 1-4 at the time of injury. Roddy White missed several games with hamstring issues. Steven Jackson missed several games with injury as well. Basically they knew there was nothing rushing him back would do to help the team.

  19. Dez won;t be back. Not this year. The earliest he could be back would be week 11 or 12, MAYBE.

Cowboys aren’t gonna chance a long-term re-occurring issue by hurrying him back.

    Good thing he got Paid.

  20. Dez will be back sooner than later, Dr. White. Each player body is different. Demarco Lawrence, broke his foot in training camp, and returned to play in 8 weeks. How About Them Cowboys! ! Super Bowl Bound NFC East Champs

That wouldn’t be a huge shocker as the Cowboys are in one of the worst divisions in the NFL. That very well could happen. Romo’s going to be out for a while as well though.
