Bryan Bulaga won’t play Sunday night

The Packers won’t have right tackle Bryan Bulaga against the Seahawks on Sunday night.

Bulaga sprained his MCL during practice on Thursday and coach Mike McCarthy announced on Friday that Bulaga will not be able to play this week. McCarthy called it “unfortunate,” but said the team will “deal with it.”

McCarthy didn’t formally announce a starter who would be taking Bulaga’s place, but Don Barclay is the logical choice given his past experience in the starting lineup. Barclay made 18 starts in 2012 and 2013 before missing last season with a torn ACL.

McCarthy said that Bulaga would continue to be evaluated and the team will have an extra day to see if he’s healthy before facing the Chiefs on Monday night in Week Three.

  6. At least he’s not out for the year. They already had their season ending injury for this week. Wonder who next week will be?

    The amount of people this team loses to injury every year has to be beyond mathematical possibility.

  7. But the next man up(Barclay) has played terrible in the preseason so dont expect much pass protection from him Sunday night.this may be his last year unless he really shows something.

  11. Meh. Aaron Rodgers could play the whole season with 10 rookies from Division 3 and still win the NFC North. He’s just that good.

    Yeah, because no other team has injuries. Man, you guys do a lot of whining and excuse making.

  20. It’s a good thing that Nick Foles and the third stringers from the rams completely exposed the Seahawks.

    Also, Sherman in the slot? Davante Adams and James Jones will destroy the secondary.

    In the Vikes/Lions game, it will be interesting to see if all three Lions running backs get to 100 yards rushing, or if only two manage to do it.

    If it’s only two, I’d imagine that it will be Abdullah and Bell, with about 175 yards each.

  22. And the Vegas line hasn’t moved a tick. GB will win, and I’m a Hawks fan. Huge emotion play. I will say if GB loses, they can kiss home field goodbye. Again though, I think they win 27-20

  23. As a Packer fan if this game was in Seattle I would say that the of Bulaga would be devastating.

    But in Green Bay the Seahawks have no teeth.

    Im going 31 GB 23 Seattle.

    And yet, the purple paste eaters are routinely beaten by this gaggle of “first round busts”, year in and year out.

    Funny how that works out.

  25. If Green Bay fans think they’re just going to walk all over Seattle, just remember you don’t have a front 4 (or in your case, front 3) like the Rams do.

    The Bears had over 200 yards rushing last week. This is going to be a pretty close game.

    Their own team may not have a win yet – or a touchdown – but they’re always around trying to bite the ankles of the Packers.

    As for Bulaga, someone get that boy into the yoga class!

    Yea that Aaron Rodgers guy was a huge bust. If only he could be the all time leader in some category, or many.

    If only 4 of our last 10 picks could be Pro Bowlers.

    Now if you stated the Packers draft picks are constantly getting career threatening injuries, then you would have a point.

  32. Bulaga should have surgery and get it fixed right away. I know someone who could do it, too, great with a blade. Then, we could have a chance to win, but if we choke again, I’ll still watch and enjoy it.

    The Packers have the home field advantage. Seattle is the more desperate team. From 2007 – 2014 only 5 of 66 teams who started the season 0-2 made the playoffs.

    First, the stat isn’t even correct.

    Second, that includes TB, Oak, Tenn, etc. Those teams haven’t been playoff bound if they won their first two, lost their first two, or anything in between.

    Last year, of the four teams in the NFC / AFC champ games, two started 0-2 and the other two started 1-1.

    Four games in last year, those four teams were 8-7 because Seattle had a bye.

    “Next Man Up” is the same as saying “Stay Calm and Carry On.” The Packers will play with whomever they have available, and with no excuses. They’ve done it before and they can do it again.

  37. The Packers won’t need Bulaga against the Chiefs. Andy Reid will make more dumb-ass calls like he did last night and that’s the edge the Pack needs in the game.

  38. The Packers very well could lose this game, and if they do, I expect their fans will be as gracious in defeat as they are in the far more common Packer victories.

    But Viking fans – they sure are some sore losers.
