Mike Evans says Randy Moss can still play

During the preseason, former NFL receiver Randy Moss mused openly about a comeback. But there has been no apparent interest in his services.

Maybe there should be.

Via JoeBucsFan.com, Buccaneers receiver Mike Evans recently explained that Moss can still play at a high level.

“If he really wanted to, I don’t know if he does or not, if he really gave it a crack, I think it would be pretty good,” Evans said on the first edition of his new show on the Buccaneers Radio Network. “He still has that explosion. He was beating me in 10 yard starts, you know. Yeah, and Terrelle Pryor and Josh Gordon, Leon Washington, he’s beatin’ us. We’ll win some, too. But he’s winning.”

Saints receiver Brandin Cooks made similar comments about Moss earlier this month. With plenty of teams needing pass catchers, it’s a little surprising that no one has offered Moss a chance to return.

  1. He tried that a couple years ago and he sucked. Not likely he would be any good now. I think there is a little hero worship going on here.

  2. It is not a surprise that no one has signed him because he was a third receiver on a 49ers team that did not move him up to the first or second spot. Jim Harbaugh benched Alex Smith for Colin Kaepernick. Don’t you think that he would have started Moss in place of Mario Manningham or Kyle Williams?

  3. Also, Mike Silver did tell KNBR in 2011 that Jeff Fisher told him that Randy was finished. Also, Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean told PFT Live that people within the Titans organization told him that Moss could not get off press coverage in October 2011. You would think that the person who wrote this post would remember what a reporter told him rather then ask a question with an obvious answer.

  4. I’d love to see Bill B give him another shot… He’s always good for a year attitude wise & he’s already very farmiliar with Brady & the system….I doubt it will happen but could you imagine GRONK, Chandler,Edelman & Moss with Blount in the Backfield & LaFell back in the lineup starting week 6…. Holy CRAP!!!
Come on Bill… make the call!!!

  5. He should have made this official 2 months ago. Pierre Garcon’just went down on my Madden team. Shucks!

  6. You know, Darrell Green could still run a 4.4 40 at age 50. Still being a good athlete doesn’t mean you can still go through the grind of an NFL season.

  7. I Believe it! This is a guy in a completely different celestial class than 95% of the world. He is in the realm of people like Aaron Rodgers, Jimi Hendrix, Barry Sanders, Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Serena Williams, etc…. These people are from a different planet. I’m convinced they all just know something the rest of us don’t. lol.

Would LOVE to get him back home to the VIKES again. It’d be something else entirely now that we have “actual” coaches with a true vision and a true program.

Ha, it might be to much for Teddy to handle at the moment but….. just imagine,

    WALLACE. MOSS.

    PETERSON.

    (????)

  8. If he does it would only work in New England. He could go other places but in New England he could be a star again. For one season.

  9. I remember when the annual “he can still play, he’s in game shape, give him a call” article was about Terrell Owens, that’s how old I am.

  10. He would not be paid like he used too. He would get this veteran minimum at this point of the season with salary caps tight. He’s making similar to that from Fox now.

You need desire to play and he’s not shown any since he retired and the pay difference is not going to generate any. He’s done!

  11. Yeah, I still have the speed I had when I was playing college hockey also, the difference is I don’t get hit anymore. It is the ability to absorb those hits, get up and do it again that goes away with age. No doubt Moss was and is a superior athlete, but age and time away will always take it’s toll.

Serena is a steroid user and needs a gender check! Come on man…
