The Cardinals took the opening kickoff back for a 108-yard touchdown and never looked back in today’s win over the Bears.
Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald caught three touchdown passes, Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was knocked out of the game trying to make a tackle on a pick-six, and basically everything went right for the Cardinals while everything went wrong for the Bears. Arizona won 48-23.
It was a vintage game for Fitzgerald, who caught eight of the nine passes thrown to him for 112 yards. He may no longer be the player he once was, but he’s capable of playing at a very high level. He proved that today.
For the Bears, the most disappointing part of the loss is the injury to Cutler, who was actually off to a very good start before he threw that interception that became his last pass of the day. Jimmy Clausen struggled in relief of Cutler, and if Cutler is out for any significant length of time, things could get ugly in Chicago for the 0-2 Bears.
But things are looking sunny in Arizona for the 2-0 Cardinals. On a day when the Rams and 49ers lost, Arizona is now alone in first place in the NFC West.
