Saints need Superman, but Sean Payton says he’s not on way

With the Saints off to another 0-2 start, coming off their sixth straight home loss, and perhaps dealing with a sore-armed quarterback, they need all the help they can get.

But they’re not looking up in the sky for an answer.

Clark Kent is not walking through the door,” Saints coach Sean Payton just told reporters, via the team’s official Twitter account.

Of course, their division rivals in Charlotte will likely get a chuckle out of that, since they do have a quarterback who likes to play Superman from time to time.

But as it pertains to his own quarterback, Payton wasn’t sure what the future held.

Drew Brees said after taking an early shot in yesterday’s loss to the Buccaneers that shoulder pain affected some throws, but Payton didn’t have much to offer, saying the hit might have “hindered” Brees, but that it was to soon to know whether Brees might need to miss any time.

If Brees does miss any time, the Saints might need to call in the entire Justice League.
