Seahawks say they recovered a fumble that refs gave to Packers

AP

The Seahawks believe the officials blew a crucial call in the fourth quarter of Sunday night’s loss to the Packers.

According to the Seahawks, Seattle offensive tackle Justin Britt recovered Packers linebacker Jayrone Elliott’s fumble after Elliott intercepted Russell Wilson with seven minutes left in the game. But although Britt emerged from the pile with the ball, the officials ruled that the Packers had the ball. Pete Carroll said afterward that the officials got it wrong.

“They declared that they [the Packers] had the ball,” Carroll said, via ESPN. “Well, they didn’t. They didn’t point it out. …There’s a lot of things that happened in this game. That play in particular because it’s such a big deal to us to take care of the ball and get it. Justin did a great job to get that ball back.”

Britt said that he and Elliott both had a hand on the ball when they went to the ground, but Britt insists that he’s the one who got it.

“Me and him kind of reached for it at the same time, and then all I know is he tried to pull it into him,” Britt said. “Then I pulled the tip and pulled it away. I walked away with it. Explain to me how that’s their ball.”

That’s an explanation a lot of people in Seattle would like.

  1. I’m shocked! Shocked, I tell you! REFS ALWAYS, ALWAYS GET THEIR CALLS CORRECT. This is a travesty! I’m writing my congressman!

    😉 FYI, Pete, karma is spelled K A R M A.

Sincerely, a Green Bay Packer fan.

  2. That was a clear GB recovery before everyone piled on & the ball was ripped out. Replayed would have clearly shown this since all turnovers are reviewed up stairs.

  3. Well they have a chance to get to 1-2 this week. Thoughts a prayers go out to all seahawks fans. 3 straight losses – this is probably the longest losing streak Seahawks fans have seen since following the team in 2012.

  4. Please explain then Pete how you thought giving a TD to Golden Tate was the correct call after MD Jennings intercepted it? Elliot recovered his own fumble, camaras don’t lie. Quit being such a Baby Pete!! You’re 0-2, worry about that!!!

  5. hmm, like the refs have never blown a call in a Seahawks-Packers game that went in Seattle’s favor. If I were Pete Carroll, I would be embarrassed to make any statements about refs and critical 4th quarter calls. Perhaps, what comes around, goes around. However, in this case, I don’t think it comes close to the obviousness of the Fail-Mary call. Sounds like whining to me. I would think Pete should focus on teaching Wilson to not throw interceptions in critical situations rather than complaining about the refs.

  6. OMG 😡 Pete’s angry!

Britt came in late with the man down on ground on top of the ball.

  7. Replay showed it took 3 Seahawks trying to push and roll Elliot to get at the ball… Britt may have emerged with it but it took the entire 1.5 minutes of scrum fighting for him to wrestle it away. Once the refs got to the bottom layer of the pile and saw Elliot still had it they made the call. Richard Rodgers still had a spinal cord after the play but the refs made the right call and ejected Wright. The refs called an extremely good game, quit whining.

  8. It doesn’t matter what player emerges from the pile with the ball.
Possession will go to which player has the football when the ref gets his first glance at it.

  9. Excuses Excuses!!!!!. Pete Was terrible when he was in the NFL before, Now he is back at it again, even with great players he gets it wrong.

  10. Carroll and the Seahawks whining about a call, how ironic. They were outplayed in that game foe more than 3 quarters of it. #loses in a row now, and the wheels are coming off. I cant stand the packers, but I despise carroll and the seahawks so I like the fact that the packers won. Besides I know my lions are awful and and the vikings fans are the worst in the NFL, so I would rather see them win the north instead of the joke in Minnesota

  11. Carrol has no room to moan here, does the Fail Mary Ring a bell?

Also, it was CLEARLY recovered by Green Bay. “Just the way they drew it up.”

  12. The ref made the call AFTER looking into the pile to see who had possession. Who wound up with the ball AFTER possession had been determined is irrelevant. The Hawks whine more than win.

  13. When the Ref sees who has possession they call it. Just because your wrestle it away afterwards doesn’t mean you have the ball.

Trust me, if you’re a Seahawk fan or player, you have a lot more to be concerned about than when the ref saw who had possession.

  14. Elliott recoveredhis own fumble and was down by contact in the pile. That is when the Seahawk lineman stole the ball from him in the pile. That is how it is not Seahawks football. What a bunch of baby cry babies

  15. LOL … Reprimands for that ridiculous Replacement Refs game. How do you like it? You mad bro? Hahahaha joke of a coaching staff and fan base. This dump of a team has been so lucky the last 2 years I’m so happy to finally see their fluke job luck run out. The fake “12’s” can crawl back into their 49er holes now.

  16. Pete Carroll- You Mad Bro?
maybe you feel like this game was snatched from you thanks to a call from a ref…hmm sounds awfully familiar..Stop whining, for once you were on the wrong side of a questionable call

  17. I knew Pete would find something to complain about. He threw a hissy fit on the first drive even after video evidence showed he had 12 men on the field.

Nobody outside of the Emerald City cheers for these guys on Sunday’s.

  18. One times the refs get the call completely wrong, like opening night three seasons ago on a game ending Hail Mary.

Carroll knows that you have not won the game if it is so close that a referee judgement affects it.

  19. Rodgers is the “biggest whiner” in football. Bitches at the refs non-stop. But nice Week 2 win…only three players carted off! 👍

Packers fans will have this one to tuck under their pillow while Rodgers fades out in the playoffs as usual.

  20. Second year in a row that’s happened to Seattle (last year at Rams).
While this one wasn’t the game-decider the Fail Mary was, it was close enough to say we’re even. We’re square. We’re good.
    Thumbs down if you agree.

  21. Do Hawks cry or is that just the wind in their eyes? Carroll sounds like his players are the only ones that try to cause fumbles and then recover it. Except the ruling and wait until today and get the real ruling from the Official expert who will tell us all it was a bad call and they are sorry. Does the NFL fine Officials for bad calls?

  22. Doncha just love a Pete Caroll team? You can tell them by the whining when they lose and their bombast when they win. Real class operation.

  23. The replay showed that it was under the Green Bay player and Brit goes charging into the pile and tries to rip it away. When you dove into him, you touched him down, so your pushing and pulling was all for not.

  24. Once they said it was packers ball the packer player let it go, that’s how you got the ball. I’ve watched football for years and this has happened many times. It isn’t about who manages to have the ball after the refs determine possession. That’s why players are on that pile to try to block the ref and steal the ball. You failed to fool the ref.

  25. The first player to gain possession when on the ground is the player properly awarded the ball, not the second guy who “pulled the tip and then pulled it away”.

  26. Once that game was out of hand you got a good look at the character of their defense. They acted like they were the Raiders. #50 was mad they gave up that 2-point conversion so he caused a scrum then caused another scrum later. There were more scrums caused by them after that. They act like a bunch of babies. “If I can’t be given the win then I’m going to take my ball and go home.”

Too bad they didn’t save some of their energy for during the play instead of afterwards. If they had been that physical during the play then maybe they would have stopped the Packers more than they did.

  27. When a call goes against Carroll it’s like he was just told that terrorists actually did do 9/11.

  28. 0-2 and now the whining and excuse making are setting in. Looking like the Seahawks could be in for a long year.

  29. It’s EXACTLY like Fail Mary play. They feel if they are even touching the ball in a pile it’s theirs aND they should get the call. Don’t feel one bit sorry for you chumps! Maybe you should call the replacement refs and get their opinion. Just sayin’.

  30. Alternate theory, I know Carroll loves those, the Packeds had it, refs signaled it, they let go of the ball and the Seahawks walked away with it.

Either way, they had the lead and blew it. Blame the refs, but if you blow a lead, it’s your fault you lost.

  31. I correct that. Fail Mary play isn’t really comparable cuz it was so much worse. But these fools are a bunch of babies despite getting the majority of calls in their favor.

  32. LOL..Seattle is used to being the NFL darling who gets away with everything…

Then they run into Aaron “Golden Boy” Rodgers.

Sorry hawks…your “dynasty” was good clickbait for a couple seasons… Aaron is money year in, year out

  33. Even if it was a blown call, it wasn’t, so what? Do you think anyone in Green Bay, or the rest of the league, is going to feel bad for you; especially after the way you celebrated like you just won the Super Bowl following the Failmary play.

  34. Because as you said, you had the tip. He had most of the ball. After everyone was down and the play over, and probably after the refs ruled, then you pulled it away. Sorry, but too late.

  35. Makes for a long plane ride back home doesn’t it Pete-y? It was the right call…..alot goes on underneath the pile…..this one you don’t get to steal from Green Bay.

  36. If that’s true it was a make up call b/c the refs blew a call against the Seahawks when Crosby kicked a FG & Seahawks jumped off sides which would’ve been a first down in the red zone

  37. I told you all last week that Seattle had to be the Packers and the refs. History shows they get favorable calls all the time in Lambeau.

  38. I’ll explain it to you, you are poor sport and crybaby so your lack of objectivity prevents you from seeing the obvious, which is the Seahawks are 0-2 and like a turd, swirling around as the flush downward continues.

  39. There are always instances where the refs call the fumble one way and a guy from the other team emerges from the pile with the ball.

  40. “There aren’t bigger whiners in football. 0-2.”

Sorry but Indy and Baltimore make the Seahawks look like amateur whiners. Seahawks are not in their class at all.

  41. Let me get this straight….

you’re saying that there was a fumble and the team that didn’t recover the ball are claiming that they were the ones who really did?

Unbelievable that this can still occur in 2015.
    They should sue Goodell.

  42. Ummmm Pete….. Your guy admited that the Packer had the ball first but then he ripped it away under the pile. Since the packer was down by contact at that point, the right team was awarded the ball.

  43. There isn’t a more annoying guy to watch on the sidelines than Pete Carroll. He is right up there with the biggest whiners in the game.

  44. Of course they did. Go ahead and give them a TD. Toss in a 2 point conversion while you’re at it. I’m thinking that still won’t silence the whines.

  45. They should congratulate the Packers for beating them, as I predicted they won’t make the playoff this year before the season started. The Packers are still pathetic and won’t beat the Vikings this year, not even one game. Sad but true.

  46. They should congratulate the Packers for beating them, as I predicted they won’t make the playoff this year before the season started. The Packers are still pathetic and won’t beat the Vikings this year, not even one game. They will get shut out. Sad but true.

  47. After having to stomach the Fail Mary, listening to Pete Carroll criticizing officiating is about as delicious as it gets.

  48. Actually – if you think back to a couple yrs ago (in Seattle), this seems like poetic justice or “what goes around, comes around”)!

  49. Just like Sherman didn’t jump offside? If they have video proof that he was the first to recover then I’ll believe it. Maybe this is fail Mary karma dumbasses. Go home and cry.

  50. Oh course he did. Carrol coached team is falling apart.
Do you think the seachickens are cracked to lay on the pile for mins at a time like Lynch did also?? I have never ever seen piles last that long or that hard to get apart. Grow up Carrol, win within the rules.

  51. And fumbling in the first place is ok? Had he not fumbled there need not be a five minute scrum at the bottom of the pile. Replay showed packers fell on it. It matters not who ended up with the ball after the whistle blew and the trained 5 min scrum. Maybe the officials saw it all happen?? Yep, knew the chickens were pig piling on purpose?? Just sayin..

  52. I agree Pete. That ball belonged to the Seahawks. I would also agree that the Seahawks have aided and abetted their position by doubling their points given up per game, over the last 3 years.

A large part of their problems, stem from the stubbornness to admit they have botched the Chancellor issue. The other problem is the denial that OC Bevell does have problems incorporating players into his rigid offensive scheme.

He’s got a an all pro TE/WR in Graham and he has no idea how to use him. As Yogi would say, in Seattle, “it’s getting late early”.

  53. Calls were terrible for both teams quite frankly, I’m guessing Pete has no problem with the intentional grounding that was missed.

Right! Just like they DIDNT have 12 men on the field in the 1 Q even though replay showed it.
    _____________________

One play has nothing to do with the other.

I’m a Bears fan so don’t care either way. That said, the ball was clearly recovered by Seattle. Defender made a great pick, ball was knocked out. O Lineman clearly got the ball even before all that ‘on the bottom of the pile’ crap happened.

Bad call that had a significant impact on the game.

I hate each team equally, but the quality of officiating was atrocious. I’ve hated the way that the SEA db’s have been allowed to mug receivers over the last year, but at least 3 of the PI/holding calls against the SEA dbs were questionable at best.

  55. I think this year should be considered the year of the whiners. No team seems to see when they just aren’t getting it done. I’ll tell you what happened. That was the second pile the officials had to deal with. They blow the whistle and they want everyone to stop so they can sort things out. The refs had no control over the first pile. Everyone ignored them and just kept on fighting for the ball. On the second pile the refs blew the whistle, everyone ignored them, so one red said he saw the pack recover and the head line judge made the call before everyone was pulled off the pile. Of course the Seahawks player came up with the ball. Once the call was made no one was fighting for it anymore. So go on crying like little girls.

  56. Hey Pete, the officials already ruled it Packers ball before Britt came out with it. Obviously, if there were any simultaneous possession, the officials who were inches away determined it was Packers ball anyway.

Sometimes you get calls your way, sometimes you don’t. Just take the high road and play better next time.

  57. Pete Carroll, giving his opinion on Failmary to Packers beat reporters:

“The guys on the field had to call it and they called it the way they saw it. It didn’t work out for you guys and it worked out for us. We had a great celebration on it. We’ll all have our own debate about that,” Carroll said.

“That referee was standing right there looking right down at it and he didn’t miss what he saw. He just saw it that Golden Tate made the catch. He wasn’t confused. He called what he saw. Sports are like that.”

  58. Did anyone put butter and jam on Sherman after the game, because he was toast on numerous occaisions.

  59. Just about every replay of Seattle’s secondary showed atleast one hold or illegal contact. On the Jones TD where he was ruled out of bounds Williams mugged him before the ball got there. Yet they whine. Wow

  60. Even if it was a bad call (it wasn’t), it doesn’t come close to making up for fail mary. So shut up.

  61. it’s an easy explanation. you were playing the packers. All games the packers play are fixed to go their way. just go back and look at all of their games. this year, last year, two years ago, etc etc. The NFL is fixing games and getting away with it.

  62. Elliot had the ball and was down by contact. Anything that happens after this is irrelevant. Pretty simple if you have a brain.

  63. Carroll cries all game? Check out your own QB before you spout off. Any play that doesn’t go as planned, Rodgers is signaling so much you’d think he was wearing black and white stripes. I respect the hell out of Rodgers but he is increasingly becoming more like Brady: he whines to the refs at every chance and he gets more and more arrogant as time passes.
Hard fought game and even as a Seahawks fan I will go on the record and state that one call isn’t the reason we lost. Goes for the so called fail Mary as well.

Two very good teams that I am quite sure will be playing in January there are 14 more games In between.

  64. hmm, like the refs have never blown a call in a Seahawks-Packers game that went in Seattle’s favor. I would think Pete should focus on teaching Wilson to not throw interceptions in critical situations rather than complaining about the refs.

  65. Tate also said he had a hand on the ball.

There’s plenty of replay angles that show Elliott on top of it while classless Seattle players dive in at him.

If he’s on the ground with the ball and you jump on him he’s down by contact, losers.

  66. The video shows Elliott falling on the ball on the ground and then Hawks player dives in ….if it’s under Elliott’s gut as video showed — and he’s already down on the ground — it’s GB ball.

As soon as Hawks player makes contact with Elliott play is over. Down by contact. It’s not about who can wrestle it away. The play is over as soon as Hawks player touched Elliott.

    ________

Umm, might want to rethink that. Since 2007, 66 teams have started out 0-2. 5 have made the playoffs (one of which was the 8-8 Chargers). None have advanced.

So, the odds of that happening are VERY statistically against you.

  68. We lost straight up. Interception and fumble last two possessions is the reason. No whining. Lots of season left

  69. How ironic that Pete Carroll wants to complain about a call that didnt go his way after his brazen arrogance following the Fail Mary – a call so bad it ended a national labor dispute where before the game, both sides were miles apart and dug into their positions. He could learn a lot from Mike McCarthy about integrity and sportsmanship.

  70. There should have been a “piling on” penalty for all the late diving onto an already formed pile. The Packers got penalized earlier for pulling obviously ridiculous and stupid idiots off a pile.

The camera confirmed who had the ball and there is no need 15 seconds after the whistle to be lunging on top of a pile.

If they can’t grow up, start ejecting them from the game.

  71. And James Jones was held in the end zone on a play that was (correctly) ruled incomplete because his butt cheek touched the ground, but no flag was thrown for the hold.

  72. And #69 is still Holding without any flag being thrown.

I’m amazed at how much Holding Bakharini is able to get away with– -Then again, I am not– since the Packers (and Aaron Rodgers) have a ticket to do whatever is necessary to keep #12 off the ground.

  73. Here we go again. Pete Carrol has been a crybaby his entire career. Last year when the refs got the call in the end zone wrong in his favor he praised them sayin it was the right call, This guy is the worst of the worst. He was comletely dirty in the Reggie Bush situation at USC and was told he would not be back the next season. He told the press it was his decision to move on. That was a lie. Someone needs to slap that gum out of his face.

  74. Pete Carroll needs to get penalties for being on the field, time and time again he walks onto the field and cries about every call! These refs don’t have to give him detailed explanations about EVERY call!

  75. Oh please Pete… go cry in your sugar free vanilla latte. The ref said Elliott had possession before the other guy ripped it out. He was on the ground with the ball, therefore the play was dead once the seahawks player touched him.

Just have some class for once. Remember Fail Mary?

  76. Serious question: In today’s NFL if a referee suspects a player has a concussion then he is sent off the field. Does the collective bargaining agreement allow refs to identify players they suspect are playing while on a banned substance? I was at a get together last night and the Packer v Seahawks game was on the tv. I was speaking to a Dr. who doesn’t really follow football. After the tv showed a closeup of a player, the dr immediately said that guy is on a stimulant. Probably an amphetamine of some kind. I asked how he could tell and he said because of his eyes and because of his mannerisms. He said he was 85-90% certain.

Can a ref do anything about that if they notice it on the field?

  77. I really don’t get why people love to hate other fans’ teams?

The fact about yesterdays game is that Aaron Rodgers played a clutch game, and avoided the pass-rush time and time again. He is a HOF QB, and he showed that last night.

Furthermore, Seahawks cost themselves the opportunity to win this game due to brainfart penalties on crucial plays – where (again) Rodgers brilliantly took advantage of it.

I hate that the Seahawks lost – but why should i start talking crap about the Packers because of that? People (!) – grow up.

  78. If so many of the Hawks hadn’t jumped into the pile late, maybe the cameras could have seen more clearly. As it was, there was no evidence of recovery, so yeah, Green Bay ball.

  79. While Petey is by far the biggest crybaby in the NFL, it most definitely wouldn’t shock me to see the Packers have anything handed to them at home by none other than…you guessed it folks. GENE STERATORE #dezcaughtit

  80. God is bored with the Seahawks already. Even he can’t keep this “dynasty” from falling apart.
PS: 2-3 years does not equal a dynasty, Seahawk fans! You will be irrelevant by the end of the year.

  81. Long-time Seahawks fan here. This team has a lot more to worry about than one fumble recovery. Like, say, getting trounced on both the offensive and defensive lines for much of the night. Championship-caliber teams own the line of scrimmage. From what I’ve seen so far, the OL has simply not meshed, and the DL, while good, went up against one of the best OL’s in the game.

Has there ever been a less likeable team than the Pete Carroll Seahawks?

    —————————-

Being a Pats fan, I’d have to go with the Ravens, Colts, Steelers and Jets and Broncos above the Seahawks. But they’re right up there.

  83. “me and him” struggled for the ball? That pretty much sums it up. The hawks have become an extension of their arrogant coach who loves to cry and whine!

  84. The coach with the most players who have been suspended for steroids is calling out the refs from the bottom of the pile. He must be taking some of those pills cause it gives him XRAY vision. Britt you can steal the ball well after the play has concluded- it dont mean nothing. You didnt have a hand on it until after 2 minutes of roughhousing in the pile. We know why you Hawks fight so hard for the ball – called Roid rage. Cheap team cheater coach and now you can add whining to the list of why other teams hate you.

  85. Seahawks say they recovered a fumble that refs gave to Packers

Like the Packers interception that magically became a Seattle touchdown??? That’s unpossible! 😀

  86. According to Carroll the refs got it wrong on the fumble, but the high school fill in ref named Lance Easley was spot on with his Golden Tate “Fail Mary” call.

  87. Are you allowed to whine after years of your DBs getting away with blatant holding, the fail mary, training camp practice violations, “adderall” and the Bowman NFC Title game play?

  88. And the fact that the Seahawks entire deffensive strategy for the last 2 years has been to get away with blatant pass interference, is okay Pete? He was a cheat in college and is a cheat in the NFL, he has no room to ever complain about NFL officiating…

The coach with the most players who have been suspended for steroids is calling out the refs from the bottom of the pile.
    ======

This is simply factually not true. You should put down your flip phone, get off of AOL dial up and check your numbers over the last three years.

Having said that, congrats to the Pats. I’m actually not that disappointed. It’s tough beating them in Pack Land.

Need Wilson to keep on the read option more like he did in the second half. Don’t know if it’s coaching or the big contract but through the first game and a half he seems to want no part of it.

Offensive line will improve and already looked better than game one.

Pack took away Lynch which is why Wilson could run so easily.

We’ll be there in the end.

  90. My personal favorite, and there are many, was this:

On the James Jones TD that was (correctly) overturned due to Jones right hip being on the ground, Cary Williams was playing classic LOB defense. Mugging the receiver beyond belief in the most obvious uncalled illegal contact ever. But remember, if you hold and maul and grab the wideouts every play, and everyone does it, they can’t call a penalty on EVERY play, can they?

This is truly the mindset of Pete, his players, and the Seattle fanbase. I’m not making it up, it’s straight from the horses mouth. A philosophy of muddying up the game and tilting it to your favor at the expense of the integrity of the game.

Followed by a series of blame being cast at officials, the other team, and the NFL itself after every loss. And praise to God and the NFL when it results in W’s.

This is just one reason why Seattle is the most unlikeable team in NFL history.

    ——————————

Then please explain how Russell Wilson’s pass that sailed into the 10th row was not intentional grounding?

  92. I guarantee if the Seahawks won and the refs blew a fumble recovery call to go in the Seahawks favor, the Pack would be here whining. In fact, they won and they still are.

There were many blown calls, including a few blown blatant PI calls for the Packers. I never would feel good about the Fail Mary win if I was a Seahawks player. Should the Packers feel good about a win where the guy who emerges from the scrum with the ball was clearly on the ball well before ball control could’ve been established and yet the refs still rule for the other team? I mean the Packers dude jumps for the ball and is sliding on the ground within the same-split second Britt is jumping on the ball. There’s no way the Packers got ball control before he was on it too. Watch the replay.

They recover that there’s a good chance it’s a tie game.

  93. If you ever see Pete Carroll on the sidelines, most of his coaching efforts seems to be convincing the ref’s that every call or non-call should be in the Seahawks’ favor. Maybe he should spend more time actually coaching his players. Whiners are so irritating. Two of the biggest complainers during NFL games seem to be Carroll and Brady. Didn’t Carroll coach in New England? Alright. Let’s unleash the vitriol from the Seahawks and Patriots fans. HeeHee.

  94. Also some Packers fans should educate themselves on what constitutes pass interference. Don’t mistake physicality within five yards of the LOS as PI. The physicallity at the line is to offset and disrupt a lot of little jukes and false steps WR’s do to get a step on the DB. Plus it’s freakin’ football. Up until 25 years ago WR’s could get manhandled up and down the field and it was just part of the game. Plus the refs called Williams for illegal use of the hands at like yard 6 last night so chill.

  95. Are you Kidding me? after all of the defensive holding the Seahawks got away with last night they have no room to complain! I cannot believe they weren’t called on at least 4 crucial plays last night and I could see that on my television! It was blatant! I’m now wondering if the “Legion of Boom” hasn’t been mugging people for three years!

  96. Kam Chancellor must have known that he’s the reason Sherman isn’t burned more often. That TD he gave up to Jones you could tell he expected backup and it wasn’t there.

He looks a little like a lost puppy out there without all his help. That and he holds on every single play like he always had. If Rodgers hadn’t been throwing from a cruddy position on that 50-some yard PI call it would have been an 80 yard TD pass against Sherman because he wasn’t within 15 yards of his guy and Rodger’s 50 yard duck gave him time to get there to tackle the guy before the ball was there.

  97. I have no preference between the Packers or the Hawks but all these excuses are tiresome. What it all comes down to is preparation and execution, the team that does a better job will win.

    Execute = Win.

  98. Never once would I ever post excuses for a loss. It just looks and smells like sour grapes.

I just wish the Seahawk fans would adopt that position, their posts are reading like they just got out of 5th grade study hall.

0-2 is not the end of their season, but its a good start in that direction.

Did you miss the news 2 years ago when Seattle players publicly admitted to the media that they hold on every single play because they know the refs won’t call most of them, because it would slow the game down too much to throw that many flags?

  100. I could swear I heard the official say “Green ball” after the Packer player fell on the ball. So from what I saw and heard, it went like this…

    1. Seahawk fumbled.

    2. Packer recovered.

    3. Official ruled on recovery/possession, at which time the play was done and over with.

    4. Seahawks players continued to scrum and eventually pulled the (already dead) ball away.

    Did anyone else notice this?

  101. Pete Carroll sure likes to whine. The call was correct, Seahawks just can’t accept the fact the Pack beat them.

  102. The majority of these bloggers have no problem with the Seahawk players. It’s all about Pete Caroll. He’s such a putz and very easy to hate. Just like his first stint in the NFL he’s in way over his head.

  103. Bottom line, my Seahawks did NOT show up to play ! You can’t fumble/throw away opportunities to a solid team on their own homefield, just asking for trouble. It seemed like it took us hours to get our first (first down.) Ridiculous………….As usual we now find ourselves in yet another hole to dig ourselves out of. “sigh”

  104. I watched the replay on Gamepass and Britt clearly didn’t have a hand on the ball initially. You could see him flailing with both hands and trying to rip Elliot’s arms away and/or get a hand wedged in near the ball.

Also this illustrated an issue with the “no pulling people off the pile” rule. Okung jumped on the pile several seconds late. In days gone by he would have been ripped off the pile or held by the legs. But with the new rule he had free reign to jump on late and just plow through the pile in an attempt to get the ball. You could see Pennell gesturing at the ref repeatedly as if to say “do you see what this guy is doing?”.

  105. Gotta say…..After Wrecks, there’s nothing better then watching Pete the Cheat flipping out!!

  106. Good game Packers! **buttslap**
Thanks for giving us back the “chip on our shoulder”…we play so much better when we’re the underdogs. Congrats on breaking your streak against us. Feels good, huh? Hope your injured guys heal fast. #GoHawks!

  107. The dude who claims he came up with the ball even admits the Packers had the ball, or he wouldn’t have been able to take it away. And Pete Carroll is such a whiner. Every time they show him on the sidelines he is whining to an official about something.

  108. If you Seahawk fans think that was a bad call, what about a couple years ago in the fail Mary by Wilson. Our defender caught the ball and the seahawks by touching the ball , no possession was declared a TD. That was a bad call. So just because the seahawks aren’t as good doesn’t mean it’s time to blame it on bad calls.

  109. If the refs called the game right Pete the cheat you would be tossed out of the game for the multiple times you comes off of the sideline onto the field of play every game. The Packers stuffing the Shehawks run game is what lost the game for you Pete.

  110. Good game Packers! **buttslap**

Better team won,Pete the whiner(want some CHEESE,We have the best here in Wisconsin!)with that wine? Green and Gold,America's team! Go Pack Go!!

  111. Hold on just in case you haven’t heard for the Just in case you haven’t heard this for the millionth Time Fail Mary There it is been sad again because that’s all you cheese heads can talk about 1 those were replacement Refs they should have been coacHing little league games that had nothing to do with Seattle to so you won 1 season game against the congratulations Yes we have some issues right now but even with our issues how many of your players got injured like I tell the Bronco fans here in Denver yeah you wanna game a game that doesn’t count now let’s see what happens in the playoffs congrats on your win it’ll be the only one

  112. to win in the nfl, you need to play smart period. play smart against your opponent, play smart against the zebras too.

  113. Umm, might want to rethink that. Since 2007, 66 teams have started out 0-2. 5 have made the playoffs (one of which was the 8-8 Chargers). None have advanced.

So, the odds of that happening are VERY statistically against you.

“Serious question: … Can a ref do anything about that if they notice it [a player on amphetamines] on the field?”
    —————————————————————-
Sure they can. Ten yards for tripping. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
