PFT’s Week Three Power Rankings

AP

1. Patriots (2-0; last week No. 1): Tom Brady has obtained no apparent motivation from his offseason predicament. None whatsoever.

2. Packers (2-0; No. 2): If God wasn’t a Packers fan, He wouldn’t have given the world cheese.

3. Broncos (2-0; No. 3): They easily could be 0-2. They’re not. Deal with it.

4. Cowboys (2-0; No. 4): Glory interrupted.

5. Cardinals (2-0; No. 8): Some folks in Chicago may be starting to think the wrong team moved out of town.

6. Bengals (2-0; No. 10): The Bengals need to order 2016 calendars and rename the first month of the year “September.”

7. Bills (1-1; No. 5): It was fun while it lasted.

8. Chiefs (1-1; No. 7): It was fun while it lasted.

9. Ravens (0-2; No. 6): This can’t last, can it?

10. Seahawks (0-2; No. 9): This won’t last.

11. Falcons (2-0; No. 16): With the Julio Jones contract, Arthur Blank redefined buying low.

12. Steelers (1-1; No. 14): Could Todd Haley actually be earning another shot at becoming a head coach?

13. Panthers (2-0; No. 18): Methodical, consistent, effective.

14. Jets (2-0; No. 26): If they win it all, does IK Enemkpali get a ring?

15. Dolphins (1-1; No. 12): These Dolphins really are different. They usually lose games they should win in December.

16. Rams (1-1; No. 13): The Rams should petition to play all of their games against NFC West teams.

17. Chargers (1-1; No. 15): Any time they play in Cincinnati and it’s not 30 below zero, that’s a win.

18. 49ers (1-1; No. 17): Some of the 49ers apparently thought the team was still wearing black jerseys in Week Two.

19. Vikings (1-1; No. 20): Which Vikings team is the real Vikings team?

20. Browns (1-1; No. 29): For a team that has lost plenty of games without excitement, why not opt for excitement and see what happens?

21. Colts (0-2; No. 11): If Chuck Pagano means it when he says that this is his last job, here’s hoping his money lasts a long time.

22. Texans (0-2; No. 21): Maybe J.J. Watt should play quarterback.

23. Titans (1-1; No. 25): Those offseason rumors about the Browns wanting Marcus Mariota to start his career in Cleveland apparently inspired the defense to try to end it in Cleveland.

24. Jaguars (1-1; No. 27): Every coach looks for the moment that causes his players to fully buy in. Sunday against Miami, that moment may have arrived.

25. Raiders (1-1; No. 31): Fantasy experts who never face any actual accountability for dispensing bad advice were strongly advising me to use Baltimore’s defense against the Raiders, since the Raiders offense is so bad. (Fortunately, I stuck with Buffalo’s defense.)

26. Giants (0-2; No. 24): They know how to build a lead. Now they simply have to figure out how to hold a lead.

27. Lions (0-2; No. 22): Ready or not, prime time is coming to Detroit.

28. Washington (1-1; No. 30): Win Thursday night, and folks will start believing.

29. Buccaneers (1-1; No. 32): Why only 29? It’s still possible that the Bucs are just a little better than a really bad Saints team.

30. Eagles (0-2; No. 19): Those smoothies have turned the offensive line into a sieve.

31. Saints (0-2; No. 23): Unless Drew Brees can also play defense at a high level, whether he plays or not shouldn’t really matter much.

32. Bears (0-2; No. 28): Not that long ago, coach John Fox lost 43-8 to the Seahawks at a neutral site and with a much better team.

  1. Should have just stopped at 5 and just said “the rest” No team below that ranking is worth mentioning this season, lots of horrible teams in the nfl this year

  2. Who makes up this list? The Ravens and Seahawks at 0-2 are ahead of better teams. The Ravens lost to the raaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiders for the sake of christmas!!!! Get real on the rankings!!!!!

  3. 26. Giants (0-2; No. 24): They know how to build a lead. Now they simply have to figure out how to hold a lead.
    ———-

And that’s really the most important part of the lead, the holding.

  4. How does a team that can only win by cheating continue to be the best in the league? Could it be because they never had to cheat to win anything? Yeah, I think so.

  5. Doesn’t change that every Championship in Foxboro is surrounded in scandal. Forever tainted. Maybe Barry Bonds can give TB12’s intro to the HoF.

  6. Colts should be #32. No one likes a snitch. Teams are going to pound Luck all year, because there is no other part of that team that is better than any other team.

  7. So the 0-2 Ravens only drop 3 and REMAIN in the top 10 but the 1-1 Raiders that beat then only move up 6 and remain in the bottom 10. Honestly, I don’t disagree with the Raiders standing, I just don’t get how you keep a winless team in the top 10. 1

  8. The jets are by no no means perfect, but could know football and see that defensive roster and have them rated as low as you did the previous 2 weeks. Cmon. You and ESPN drinking the anti jets high school popularity sorority.

  9. Logicalvoicesays: can’t wait to get SMASHED by the Pats in week 8!

Rankings look good – tom brady and Co are swimming in all of your salty tears!

    #IfYouAintSpyinYouAintTryin
    #DontBeHatinCuzWeDeflatin

  10. Ravens ranked ahead of the Steelers? That is laughable right now. Steelers offense is much MUCH better, and Ravens defense is no better than Steelers.

  11. Redskins number 28 on Oct power ranking, number 20 on NFL power ranking list. Obviously Oct knows something the rest of us don’t. PFFFFFT.

  12. 21 New starters, no Revis, no Browner and they just keep on rolling at the top. It’s called coaching, finding the right players that fit your program and the greatest QB we’ve ever seen.

  13. At some point someone has to just say it…. The Seahawks suck. I’m sure the 12th man appreciates the bone you threw them, Mike.

  14. Beat the 0 and 2 giants and that will convince you, yeah right.
No matter what this team does you would never give them credit because it would involve you having to eat crow and admit that maybe just maybe they’re not the worst and most disfunctional franchise in the history of the league.
Its way too early to start touting the redskins horn i admit that but if you cant at least recognize that they’ve played pretty good defense two weeks in a row and there offensive line has been leaps and bounds better than you predicted them to be then why bother even writing this nonsense.

  15. Once Kubiak lets Manning do his thing more often the Broncos will take their rightful place as overall #1.

Sorry Patri*ts… but Buffalo hung 32 points on your efense… that’s right, no “D”.

  16. The Ravens lost to the freakin Raiders and you have them at number 9 because you believe it won’t last? That’s brilliant! Gives your list a lot of credibility. (Tongue in cheek)

  17. 2. Packers (2-0; No. 2): If God wasn’t a Packers fan, He wouldn’t have given the world cheese.

    ——————————————–

    3. Broncos (2-0; No. 3): If God wasn’t a Broncos fan, Why are sunsets orange?

There… fixed it for you Mike.

  18. What’s with the Ravens love? Do you even know who is on thier team? You know Rey Lewis retired years ago, right? Their 1 offensive ‘weapon’ is 47 years old and they just lost to the Raiders. What is wrong with you???

  19. There’s not a single great team in the NFL this year.

    But you got 1 & 2 right.

The noodle arms at 3?? I don’t buy, they have beaten 2 teams with bad offenses. Manning is finished he won’t last past week 8.

Stiller should be higher that offense is a juggernaut. That secondary is also a joke though.

  20. 9. Ravens (0-2; No. 6): This can’t last, can it?

    ————————————————————
    No, it could get worse.

You were told No 2 was too high.

  21. We will be back at the top soon, Rome was not built in a day. Steelers played great. Please drop the cowgirls to 28th now. LOL #GoNiners #Nobodyhasitbetter(exceptPITTthisweekonly)

  22. The Bears have replaced the Cubs as the doormats of Chicago.

As a Packers fan, I am heartbroken for the epic mismanagement of our historic rival.

  23. Colts too high on list. This will be another tank job to get atop player. The rats will be jumping ship and grigson will walk the plank. That’s what happens to rats.

  24. How do you rate the bills ahead of the jets when the jets have a better offense and theor defense is playing lights out with 10 turnovers in 2 games??!!

  25. Unbelievable. How can you have the Falcons and Steelers below the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens and Seahawks. Who ever did this list obviously hasn’t watched any games. The Offenses for the Steelers and Falcons have been dominate and I would give to edge on defense to the Falcons. These other teams haven’t done squat. Shouldn’t you have to earn a position on the list and not go by potential. Bogus……

  26. Great Jets line. IK saved the Jets season, he is a Jet hero. Fitzmagic is back in the AFC East.

  27. Redskins are #1 in rushing and one of the best D’s through week two and they are at 28.. Seriously? Also cowboys without dez and romo at 4? What a total joke this list is.

  28. Haha way to go Florio – I love what you have written next to #5 – Cardinals. But it would be weird to have your football team with the same name as the Cubs biggest rival in baseball.

  29. I’m not sure if you know this, but the Cowboys’ QB and #1 WR are both going to be missing some time. And Joseph Randle is their starting RB.

Ranking them #4 is absurd at this point.

  30. Did the Hawks drink all their Super Bowl champagne at halftime? – because they certainly got the hangover.

  31. John Fox needs to get the Bears’ mind right or they will be drafting in the top 5 next spring. That team I saw after Cutler went out Sunday looked very similar to the bunch that packed it in on Trestman last season. I get it they have been dealt a ridiculously bad hand on injuries (especially on offense) and don’t have premier talent even when healthy, but 170 yards of penalties (which they had against the Cardinals) is not a talent thing. That’s discipline and focus.

  32. Lions ranking is fair. They are amongst the Jags and Buccaneers until they prove otherwise.

I feel you won’t be as quick to raise their ranking though should they start turning things around.

    Go Stafford!

  33. Seahawks at 0-2 are above a 2-0 team, as well as ahead of the Steelers who ran up and down the died in Foxboro then hung 43 in week 2…what a joke

  34. Jet’s 2 wins no losses since firing Rex!

The circus is still in NY, it just moved north to Buffalo.

  35. Eagles fan here. I don’t know how you can say any team has looked worse than the Eagles through 4 quarters than the Eagles.

I don’t have the stats in front of me, but I’m pretty sure the defense is giving up an average of around 40 yards per play while the offense is averaging just shy of -5 yards per play. At least, that’s how it feels.

  36. Not sure how the 0-2 ravens are in the top 10. Scared of Harbaugh’s crying, middle-of-the-night phone call if you’d placed them around 20 where they belong?

  37. Am I seeing this correctly, did the Titans actually move up in your rankings despite losing to the Browns? … Maybe you saw the same things I did. That game marked the first time in years that I’ve been encouraged DURING a Titans loss.

  38. Still waaaaaay too much love for the Ravens. Just like the preseason rankings. You had them at #2.

They should have dropped out of the top 10 last week and this week somewhere around #18-20.

  39. You surely dropped the ball with the Steelers ranking. Leveon Bell is back, and the ravens lost to an Oakland team while Pittsburgh’s only loss is against the defending champs. Pitt deserves top 10 at least chief.

  40. You really think the Steelers are the 12th best team after leaving way too many points on the field in a game they should’ve won against the Patriots and then demolishing the 49ers…

  41. This must be someone’s skit from the comedy hour, I mean really how can you have the Redskins at 28 when they dominated both the number 15th and 16th ranked teams, losing to Miami on a bad special teams play? I think there’s some hating going on here. And then ranked below most of the 0-2 teams who’ve looked like ish….so what gives?

  42. Boys are at 4 right now ….but they will drop like a rock with the weed at the helm

    Party is over

Realistic boys fan who put the cool aid down

  43. For the first time I disagree about Miami being high on this list. They are more like 31 or 32. Their defense is pathetic. Miami gives up 160 yards rushing and over 250 yards passing on average, should be 0-2. I guess after next week when Bills who are much better than the last 2 teams we played, comes to Miami and hangs 42 we can fall into our 32 spot. This Miami team is trash.

  44. Bengals haters? There are Bengals haters? The Bengals are not exactly the kind of team that inspires any kind of emotion. I won’t waste any energy on a team that I project will lose to Luck’s hapless Colts in the wild card game again

  45. Here’s the deal: When you see an 0-2 team ranked higher than a 2-0 team, you chuckle and read something else. Because there’s no credibility in what you are reading.

  46. BTW denverdud

you think peyton looks bad now, just wait until late November and beyond.

Yes he can still eke out (actually game manage) a few wins when the conditions are perfect but,

“Winter is coming” “Pick 6’s” days are numbered

Pats may go 16-0. Crazy easy schedule….

Not so easy. Not sure what Miami has yet, but I believe the Bills and Jets do have two of the best defenses in football (in spite of what Brady did to the Bills).

If the Bills and Jets continue to get even average or better QB play throughout the year they are playoff contenders and Miami may be better than anyone thinks right now.

  48. There is no “Power” in your rankings. You should just call it the “Poopularity” rankings.
(Yes the extra o was intentional)

Pats may go 16-0. Crazy easy schedule. There only really hard game now that Romo is out, is @ Denver

    _______________

The pats play in the AFC East. They always have an easy schedule.

  50. Actually think Peyton has as good a shot this year as any. He doesn’t need to put up 30-40 points with that D. 20 will do

Jets…whatever. Believe what you want. Watch what we do to Bradford

  51. as a jets fan, i don’t expect non jets fans and media people who don’t follow the team to properly gauge how good/bad they are. however, the jets are pretty loaded ON PAPER. it’s amazing how many of the so called experts thought they’d stink. just too much talent to not be competitive. i can’t wait until sheldon richardson comes back. the d is going to be ridiculous.

  52. So far it’s looking like Goodell the Narcissist’s attempt at parity-by-suspension of Brady made sense. It obviously wasn’t legal and therefore integrityless but it certainly seems like its the only way Brady will be stopped.
Still, its time to fire Goodell.

  53. I honestly think the Jets should be ranked where the Steelers are because they are 2-0 and have the best defense right now. Their defense is a takeaway machine and they have played a tougher schedule. I know Pittsburgh played NE but SF, no offense to their fans, is not the best team in the league and NY has played two solid teams and they contained Andrew Luck last night like he was a rookie. I am not a Jets fan but that fan base has got to be happy with the selection of Todd Bowles as their coach. I think he could win coach of the year if they continue to play like they are.

  54. Jet fans need to calm down.
As long as Fitz-magic is your QB, your future is not bright.

Trust us Bills fans, we know. Just wait.

BTW, agree Bills are rated too high.

  55. .
    @jetsarestacked

You are correct about the Jets defense. It’s highly competitive. However the offensive unit is spotty at best. They’ll need to win the turnover battle every week.
    .

  56. For those with the endless “how do you rank X over Y, when blah blah blah blah.

    1) It’s opinion. I have not seen one iota of a system behind the rankings here.

    2) Even though it’s opinion, it still takes into account TREND. The statistics are sticky, and you have to prove OVER TIME that you’re better than you were (or worse). If your team that’s “too low” wins a few more games, they will certainly move up.

Like the Bills fans last week apparently wanting a number one rating after beating the Colts. Well, right now, the Colts are obviously not that good, so the oomph you wanted last week needed another week to prove out, and now the win isn’t so stellar.

    3) It’s opinion. It doesn’t get your team one millimeter closer to winning a trophy, which is what this is all about.

    4) If you REALLY want to get a sense of your team’s real potency, there’s plenty of sites out there that have their own proprietary method of determining strength – profootballreference and footballoutsiders to name a few. Even those aren’t perfect, but taking you own opinion, toss in a few opinion rankings for perspective and filter through the systematic rankings, and you’ve got yourself enough information to triangulate the value of your team.

    5) If your team is playoff caliber, just be aware that the team that wins the turnover margin in the playoffs wins it all. So worry first that your team is a playoff caliber team, and hope they can win the turnover margin once they get there, keeping mind that regular season turnover margin capability typically does NOT automatically carry over into the post season.

Summary) Don’t worry about rankings exclusively, examine the playoff caliber potency of your team and cross your fingers that they will win the turnover margin in the playoffs.

  57. Hey, Flo! I know this is hard for you to admit here at Pat Central, but Pats could also easily be 0-2. I watched both games and whenever possible, ball seemed to bounce their way. Also hard for you to admit Denver has a top defense.

  58. The AFC East is not easy, the Patriots just make it look that way. It was the only division in the league to open 4-0. Pats and Jets are 2-0, and Bills could have been as well if they hadn’t had to face Brady so soon.

Now the AFC South, that’s a terrible division. Arguably the worst in all sports.

  59. What the heck makes you think the Ravens are a top ten team? Playing the Bengals this week, based on your rankings alone, they’re soon to be an 0-3 team.

  60. Pats and Packers are right, both teams are playing on a different level than the rest of the league. We’ll see if that holds up over a whole season.

You put a team with Brandon Weeden at #4 in your rankings, maybe you should watch some tape on him.

The odds say that a single 0-2 team might make the playoffs this year. Your top 12 has two of them. It shouldn’t.

Your #28 team beat your #16 and had a shot against your #15, you may want to think a bit harder about that.

My Eagles are getting a gift at #30. If the Jets look like they did last night, I think they’re ready for 0-3, maybe even 0-4 with how the Redskins looked on Sunday, and we can start looking forward to the draft.

    ———————————–

Pump the brakes dude. As good as your team has looked on defense, lets not lose sight of what teams they have beaten. Cleveland, nuff said. And a soft, over rated Indy team without their top 4 CBs playing. They haven’t played a division rival or quality opponent yet, but hey 2-0 is 2-0.

  62. @6ball…i’m still trying to figure out the offense. think the game plans has been very conservative the first couple of weeks. anyway, there’s plenty of talent there though. all i’m asking for is the qb to take care of the ball. the jets have had nothing but turnover machine qbs the last 6 years, which cost us a couple of playoff births under rex.

  63. Probably repeating a lot of what’s been said, but losing by a TD at New England and destroying a team at home, I think Pitt is probably ranked a tad low.

    – A Broncos Fan

  64. Ravens 0 – 2 (Loss to Oak)
    Colts 0 – 2 (Grigaon/Luck/Pagano drama)
Seahawks 0- 2 (Kam Chancellor and Graham drama)
    Goodell 0 – 4 (In court cases)
    Miami 1 – 1 (Loss to Jax)
    Bills 1 – 1 (Can’t back up talk, allow 40 points)
Dallas 2 – 0 (But no Romo or Bryant in week 5)

Damn it feels good to be a Pats fan. Don’t mind us over here in Foxborough. We’ll just be quiet and keep winning football games. Business as usual.

  65. fact is, few teams are better than a year ago and some took a slide.

is SF as good as they looked against MN or as bad as they looked at PITT?

DEN could just as easily be 0-2 as 2-0. Peyton looks shaky (again) and KC racked up 24 points…..KC.

NYJ have beaten a horrible INDY team and CLE.

MIA could easily be 0-2. Suh got his millions and has turned into Albert Haynesworth.

SD and INDY were AFC preseason picks. why? INDY got their asses kicked in AFC Championship and did ZERO to improve their team and Luck=Stafford. Great arm, nothing upstairs.

    HOU? laughable.

    TENN and JAX………..not even close.

KC is still coached by Andy Reid and tt’s 2 years + since Alex Smith has hit a WR for a TD.

Last year after 4 games, NE was 2-2 and Brady done so who knows.

  66. Is this a joke ? Are we being punk’d ? The 0-2 Ravens who got beat by the Oakland Raiders and lost Terrell Suggs for the season and their #1 draft pick is no where to be found are #9 ??? You must be joking, you must be joking…..Whoever made this list gets an immediate 16 game suspension for violation of the league substance abuse policy.

  67. Ravens
    Offense
They lost 3 of their starting wide receivers from last year’s team Smith, Boldin, Jones
There offensive coordinator Kubiak left is now the head coach of the Denver Broncos
Their 1st round pick wide receiver has yet to play this season Perriman
They Have No WEAPONS on Offense
    Defense
    Lewis and Reed are retired
Ngata traded and McPhee left in free agency
Safety Elam injured out for the season
Defensive End Suggs injured out for the season
Defense lost playmakers, lack depth they used to have
Ravens are not a playoff team
People need view in foresight not look back in hindsight

Pittsburgh scored that last TD with 2 seconds left in the game.
That’s the definition of “garbage time TD”

  69. I like Florio, he keeps us on this site – often times pissed off but we have something to talk about. As a Charger fan I see the rankings as absurd. Clearly the teams on the east coast or in a large market are ranked higher than other teams to boast ratings. It would be more engaging to us little ole fans if the rankings were legitimate. It is untoward to throw the baby of integrity out with the bath water of ratings.

I am a Phin fan and yea we are terrible. I am not sure what you mean by not sure what Miami has yet.. but let me help ya out there.. What we have is a 180m dline that has 1 sack in the first 2 weeks against what most consider bottom of league teams. Our LB core is horrible and our backs are pretty bad. The DLine, which was suppose to be the bright spot of this defense looks terrible. On the flipside, the offensive line is terrible and the Bills and Jets who actually know how to blitz the QB will have a hay day with this Miami bunch. 2016 TOP 5 Pick.. Heard it here first.

Hehehehe……obsess much there? You should be more concerned about that “vaunted defense” of your favorite team.

  73. How can you have 2 0-2 teams in the top 10? Do you just toss darts and put the team that the dart hit?

  74. @Mike Florio please explain why Cowboys are ranked 4th? Did you pull that out of a Hat (or some where else??)

SF should be like 25-29th (Im a NINER FAN!)

    Cincy is playing good.

Washington has surprised us and will beat NYG to improve to 2-1. Which is Crazy since the GM said this was a rebuilding year! they will win their DIV!

Eagles should be 32! If you cant beat your division rival at HOME with no Dez and no ROMO, and only score a TD in garbage time you Really STINK!!!

  75. Hey prognosticators. Don’t soil your linens over the Cowboys ranking. We know they’re missing Romo and Dez. Hasn’t stopped them yet as they’re yet to lose. Until they do, quit whining about their meaningless ranking being ‘too high’.

And to the dope that used ‘Joseph Randle’ is their RB to combat the ranking, you might want to actually watch some football, instead of just reading articles and making yourself look like a fool. By the way…how’d Murray doing? Cowboys 118 rush yards to Demarco’s 2 the other day. We’ll take that any day of the week

  76. There are 4 teams that stick out to me so far, 2 in the AFC and two in the NFC.

    AFC

    1. Patriots. Defending champs, and you done pissed off Brady.

    2. Bengals. Healthy and it shows. PFF number one ranked offense (Eifert wow!) and number 6 ranked defense.

    NFC

    1. Cardinals. Carson Palmer’s last 16 games as a starter over 4,500 yards, (I think) over 35 td’s and under 10 interceptions. That D is no joke either. Would have been in the nfc championship if Palmer stayed healthy.

    2. Packers. Aaron Rodgers still getting it done despite the injuries, hands down best quarterback in the nfl right now.

Seattle looks tired and confused . Baltimore looks lost on both sides of the ball. The Cowboys are without their starting QB and WR til week 9. The Broncos got lucky and Peyton manning finally looks mortal.

Once Kubiak lets Manning do his thing more often the Broncos will take their rightful place as overall #1.

Sorry Patri*ts… but Buffalo hung 32 points on your efense… that’s right, no “D”.
    ————————————————————-
If Manning stays upright all season it will be a miracle. His arm looks shot and it’s week 2.

NE is #1 now and won it all last year by beating the same team that destroyed Denver 43-8 with a healthy Manning.

I’d say your faith in Denver is delusional, but that wouldn’t be fair to delusional people.

  80. As a Rams fan it would be easy for me to say the Rams are too high at #16 for losing to the lowly Redskins but I won’t do that because the Redskins are no joke. They are a pretty darn decent team so far.

  81. Sorry Patri*ts… but Buffalo hung 32 points on your efense… that’s right, no “D”.

Half of them in garbage time when Belichick decided he wasn’t going to punt the rest of the game.

Pats may go 16-0. Crazy easy schedule. There only really hard game now that Romo is out, is @ Denver.

    *******************************

When have the Patri*ts not had an easy schedule?

It’s the biggest reason for their success since 2001… aside from all the cheating that is.

  83. 21. Colts (0-2; No. 11): way too high…as a colt fan, the offense is completely out of sync…and the jets improvement by subtraction) are better than the bills (sexy rexy strikes again…)

    2. Packers (2-0; No. 2): If God wasn’t a Packers fan, He wouldn’t have given the world cheese.

    ——————————————–

    3. Broncos (2-0; No. 3): If God wasn’t a Broncos fan, Why are sunsets orange?

There… fixed it for you Mike.
    ==========================

    10. Seahawks (o-2; No. 10): If God wasn’t a Seahawks’ fan, why would he talk directly to our QB?

There… fixed it for both of you.

  85. This just in……..Tom Brady is on the injury report this week with a sore belly as he hurt it laughing his azz off at the NFL Standings and seeing the Colts and Ravens at 0-2.

  86. I agree with continuing to rate the Seahawks highly, but the Ravens looked pretty bad in Oakland. Glad you have the sense to get ahead of the ongoing denial that seems to be going on around the Eagles.

I would probably put the Bengals ahead of the Ravens, at least for now.

Cute that the entire AFC South is 21-14. Ye gods that’s a horrible division! Look for a lot of AFC East wins against AFC South teams this year. Remember that the Jets were supposed to be the worst of the East and the Colts were supposed to be the best of the South.

  87. I challenge you to resist the temptation to do a pre-season ranking next year. When you do, teams that you EXPECT to do well stay near the top for weeks before they finally settle where they belong (if ever), and vice versa for teams you expect to do poorly. If you wait until week one is done then you can start off based on observations from a real game, not observations from 4 games that don’t matter and a Summer’s worth of speculation.

  88. 16. Rams (1-1; No. 13): The Rams should petition to play all of their games against NFC West teams.
    ====

    And at home.

Remember how they lit up Denver last year and effectively knocked them out of contention with the injuries.

The whole mad-at-the-world act from Tom Brady got old years ago. He and the Pats might be more respected if they had even a drop of humility.
    _____________________________________
Really? I think everybody would be saying that not only does that son of a gun (or what ever your favorite derogatory phrase is) beat the pants off of us, but he’s humble about it as well. He must be cheating.
Goodell is the guy you need to be angry with. He should be fired.

  90. bengalsfan73, really? I honestly think the Steelers have room to improve but you would call the Browns and Colts a tougher schedule so far then the Pats and 9ers?

I don’t think the 9ers are as good as their week 1 performance but they are not as bad as their week 2 game. The Pats keep rolling, and the game was close but in the end the Steelers defense couldn’t keep up.

The Browns are the Browns, factory of sadness. Low offensive talent and a solid defense. The Colts are a train wreck, Luck is a turnover machine. They are down to corners 4, 5, and 6 I think.

  91. Pittsburgh scored that last TD with 2 seconds left in the game.
That’s the definition of “garbage time TD”

Ask the players that question and see if they give up garbage tds. Pittsburgh would of scored that td regardless.. They was up and down the field on the patriots all night. They just couldnt cash in on field goals.

    ———————–”’————-

Now that’s funny. The bengals? U people really are delusional. And on no planet are the bengals ranked #1 at ANYTHING , except perhaps choking in the playoffs

  93. You guys may as well stop doing this list until at least mid-season because your rankings are complete trash and have zero logic. Any 0-2 team being ranked over 2-0 teams and some of the 1-1 teams is a joke. Ravens and Seahawks need to come down around the middle of the list. Both teams are not the teams they were last year, I will hear the argument that they each lost a game to a top 5 team but the other loss should have been avoided and wasn’t.

Question: Why do the Pats suddenly seem so inclined to fumble this year??
    =================================

    Answer:

Tom Brady has seven TD passes and no interceptions to start the 2015 season. That’s Brady’s best TD-INT differential in the first two games of a season for his career.

Used to be that the Steelers and their fans played hard nosed football.

Now they are into moral victories and woulda, coulda, shoulda won if only they had scoredmore points and given up less.

I will admit that the Steelers have a potent offense. But that D has no chance against Brady if they are lucky enough to get to play them again.

  96. I know it’s early, but the Patriots are already on pace to exceed their monster offensive output of the 2007 season.

Yet the haters are still coming up with absurd excuses. No props, just idiotic childlike excuses.

And you really think that people don’t see right through you and actually take you seriously?

FYI: Fumbles have nothing to do with interceptions. Then again, that is a prime example of twisted Patri*t logic isn’t it?

  98. Funny how some people mention that the Patriots have fumbled a lot lately this year, and imply that it has to do with footballs being properly inflated.

While at the same time, they ignore the fact that with epic attention being paid to ball inflation, they beat the defending champions in the Super Bowl, they beat by highly touted Steelers in the opening week, and scored 40 points against the Bills that were supposed to have one of the top defenses in the NFL.

And you’re going to tell me about fumbles.

How long can you keep grasping for straws and before you realize the fools you’re making of yourselves?

Doesn’t change that every Championship in Foxboro is surrounded in scandal. Forever tainted. Maybe Barry Bonds can give TB12’s intro to the HoF.

All you need to know is that this guy never comments on how good, no, how irrelevant his team is. Thank goodness he has something to hate on. Too bad for him that his hate means nothing. Use your energy to make your team relevant again. Blame your team for sucking, not the other teams who whip their butts routinely.

  100. If you’re a fan of the Raiders, Jags, Skins, Bucs or Rams you’ve got to be feeling pretty good right now. 1-1 with an upset win under your belts this early in the season isn’t a bad place to be.

Seahawks are easily the best of the 0-2 teams and the Cowboys may not be the “worst” of the 2-0s but I would say definitely they’re the most vulnerable. JMO.

  101. I will admit that the Steelers have a potent offense. But that D has no chance against Brady if they are lucky enough to get to play them again.

You know carloslassiter, I would tend to have to agree with you at this point in the season. The pats would put up points on the steelers d and the steelers can put up points on the pats d. Its who puts up more points next time. It could be the other way next time. I take nothing away from NE opening day win only their cheating past. The steelers showed it can play with NE even on the road.

After 2 games Pittsburgh, Carolina, Denver and Atlanta have yet to fumble. So using your twisted and debunked(it was but I get why you refuse to believe facts) logic all four teams are cheating wildly. Ironically all four have been caught and punished for cheating in the past. Co-incidence? I think not.

  103. Cowboys have a top 5 defense without Greg Hardy, Randy Gregory, and Rolando Mcclain.

Things are about to get real interesting. Taking out the 2000/2012 Ravens playbook until week 12

  104. The rankings need to be clarified. Green Bay should be number 1 at home, where they consistently benefit from their hometown refs….. and about #15 on the road.

  105. Patriots will destroy any team that gets in the way this year, look at their schedule. Other than Denver there is no one else in the AFC that has a chance to beat them.

New Engand & Green Bay SB # 50 will an epic battle!

    LOL @ all the Haters

  106. NO does not deserve to be on the bottom. It’s only week 2, this will change. We are seeing the Hyde side of this team.

  107. No, I’d take GB over NE as #1. The downgrade in the secondary and that porous run defense (even more so than the Packers’) will come back to bite them.

On track to have a 400% increase in fumbles per offensive play vs their avg since the rule change and they haven’t even hit the cold weather.

    LOL

Doesn’t even use the Redskins name.

The pats play in the AFC East. They always have an easy schedule.
    ===========================================

That would make sense if the Patriots’ record was worse outside the division, but it’s the same or better against non division opponents.

Perfect example is the Colts. Over the past 2 years they are 12-0 in the AFC South, 10-12 outside their division.

It also doesn’t explain how they’ve played in 9 AFC Championship games and 6 Super Bowls in the past 14 years.

  111. When have the Patri*ts not had an easy schedule?

Did you watch the pats games last year? They played every division winner and only lost to the Pack at home. Most difficult road to the SB in decades. But you were probably not paying attention

  112. Do the “cheater” trolls realize that 2 out of the 3 fumbles the Pats* have had have come from a guy that wasn’t on the team last year? And the other was a strip sack? Of course not, because trolls will believe what they want

    *SB champs

  113. Warning: excuses to follow.

But to be fair, and to offer some perspective, the Bears lost to two teams ranked at #2 and #5 – and this with new players in new positions on the o-line and front 7 on defense, a new coach and coordinators and system and defensive scheme, without the anchor of their d-line (and arguably their most impactful veteran player) in Ratliff, without their first round draft pick, and with their #1 and #2 WRs banged up.

They played the #2 ranked team competitively into the 4th quarter, losing by one score.

Second game, Cutler was playing lights out (had not had an incompletion) and Bears were in it until the injury and astounding ineptitude of Jimmy Pickles.

Week 3 brings them an angry Seattle team in their home opener, our starting QB likely sidelined, and a 0-3 start, which most Bears fans already expected when the schedule first came out. (I just hope the loss is respectable

The #32 ranking is earned, no doubt, for now. But make no mistake – the Bears have excellent coaches who will NOT let this team remain where they are, and the Bears WILL climb their way back to the middle of the rankings by seasons end, in part with wins over division opponents Minny and Detroit.

  114. Ravens ranked way too high. That Oakland game was a debacle. As much as it hurts to say it I don’t see how the Ravens are ahead of the ….gulp!…Steelers (man that hurt)

  115. realitycheckbaby says:

Boy Pats seem to have unusual butter fingers this year.

    Wonder why?
    ——————–

How many fumbles have they lost so far?

  116. So, let me get this straight. (2-0) Carolina beat your #22 and #24 ranked teams (had the lead for all or close to all of each game) and (2-0) Atlanta beat the 30th and 26th ranked teams in close games that were in doubt to the last tick… But Carolina is behind Atlanta in your ranking? This is just one example of many flaws in your system.
I get that it is opinion, but I am just trying to figure out how you lay it out so I can enjoy the one-liners and not have them be less funny than the rankings.

  117. Looking at this poll, it is clear why you should never start polls “pre-season” but rather should start them 3-4 weeks in. The “experts” get in their head who is good and who is bad and don’t easily move off of that, thereby skewing the poll.

That’s why we see an 0-2 team at # 9 and # 10. The poll doesn’t reflect what teams have done on the field; they reflect what experts think about the teams based on past performance, personal bias, with only the last little nuance coming from on field performance.

All polls should not start until after 3 games are played. That goes for college and pros.
