MRI coming tonight for Ben Roethlisberger

AP

The Steelers currently don’t know the extent of Ben Roethlisberger’s left knee injury. They will tonight.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, an MRI will be conducted Sunday night to determine the extent of the damage. At this point, they simply don’t know whether and to what extent ligaments are sprained or torn.

The team currently is hopeful that the ACL is intact.

The Steelers host the Ravens on Thursday night, which would make Roethlisberger a long shot to play. The question for now is whether he’ll play again this year.

  1. With the few serious knee injuries he has had and him knowing how the different pain feels , the look on his face said its bad. I’m sick..FIRE GOD-ell. It’s his fault!

  2. hopefully it’s just a ligament strain and he gets back by week 7. Because i don’t want to hear any blah blah blah we didn’t have benny, that’s why we lost crap.

  3. Get well Ben……if the season is gone so be it. Our season certainly won’t be determined by the ‘burn-out’ Vick. Why Tomlin would choose to play this turkey is beyond my belief but who the hell am I???? After watching his antics (again) for a couple of quarters makes me seriously question the Steeler’s mentality on even bringing this dweeb into camp. When you hold the ball like a loaf of bread you can accept the worst; and, this turd is the worst. Let Landry play ‘pitch and catch’ for a while or at least give our offense a chance and bring in Tebow so that we can run the option. Vick sucks and is a bad omen for our team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That didn’t look good. I think he tore it. Put a fork in the Steelers.

You hope so. Pretty scared with the D looking better! Looked like MCL…Stroker65

  5. Hey Pittsburgh make false accusations and Karma might just come back and bite you. Hate to see Big Ben get hurt before they can lay the smack down on crybaby Ravens though.

  6. Vick is poison for our team and curses on team management for even bringing him into camp. This turd is bad news plain and simple and provides nothing to our success this season. Get well Big Ben!!!!!!

  7. Nice to see scumbags are allowed to post on this site! Wishing injuries on any player just makes you an awful person. Good luck in life cause you’ll need it!

  8. All these punks who are cheering injuries, I hope you get your own karma for that.

Hopefully his knee isn’t as bad as it looked, because it looked really bad.

    Go Steelers always!

I wasn’t busting chops son, just making a statement. But since you decided to escalate it…..he tore that thing and your season is over. Have fun the next 14 weeks. Clown.

  10. Why do an MRI when all the steelers doctors have to do is read the diagnosis from posters here at pft?

You people are idiots for thinking that you know what’s wrong with the knee WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT THE KNEE.

  11. As football fans we should all hope he’s okay – not only to be decent people, but also because the NFL has such a lack of pro-caliber QBs these days to watch. Without QBs like Ben we’d have nothing but Ryan Fitzpatricks, Sam Bradfords, Ryan Malletts, Josh McCowns etc. to suffer through.

  12. Tomlin & Vick both come from Surrey County VA. That is the connection, Tomlin had said he would have signed Vick if the Eagles hadn’t in 2009.

Tomlin has won a super bowl so he’s safe. But Vick has never prepared properly as he’s admitted & only one head coach that started him hasn’t lost their job (Kelly). I do think Vick will give a bigger effort to prepare for Tomlin. He will not want to disappoint a coach that is also a local hero in the area where they both grew up.

    But, Vick has bad karma.

  13. Hey I understand all you guys over at Pittsburgh football talk are wetting your pants over there about pig Ben but there are other games to talk about. All the early games over and you still have THREE articles on the steelers up top.

Maybe the Patriots had something to do with Ben’s injury? Really?

    I’m a Phin’s fan, and I don’t want to see any player hurt…

You need to vacuum your brain !

  15. Just a football fan here. Anyone who celebrates an injury may have it come back to them or their family in some way.

These guys make their living playing this game and have had to go through a lot to get here!

    Be warned!
    Karma

  16. The stupid “Ben is a rapist” comments are from the biggest losers. No charges ever filed because he was merely a target for gold diggers, but that won’t stop anyone from slandering him when the cowards can hide behind their nicks in the PFT comments section.

Only the biggest of scumbags cheer injuries, and if there really is karma in this world, you’ll get yours for that.

    Go Steelers always!

  17. My very best to you Steeler fans. Hopefully, its just a twist and he can get back onto the field.

Looking forward to welcoming Pittsburgh back into Foxboro in the Divisional Playoffs.

  18. Its funny to hear Steelers fans talk about class when it comes to Bens knee but when Brady got his knee blown out they were all over the post cheering and wishing it would end his career and then when Brady’s suspension was vacated its was Steelers fans wishing for Brady to be injured. Steelers fans are about as classy as a coach that who trip an apossing player oh never mind not enough class in Pittsburgh to comprehend this.

  19. Curses, karma. What are scumbags witch doctor’s?
I don’t often use the term scumbags but calling you things humans would be an insult to the rest of the human race.

Or AFC Championship Game, whichever works….

    Go Patriots!

  21. Where’s the Brady role call for a low hit? Like I’ve said many times the only one who gets that call is Brady

  22. One thing we know for sure: if Rothlisberger comes back this year, he’ll limp around on the field and grimace every chance he gets in between plays. Of course during the play he’ll be fine, but that’s because he knows that camera isn’t getting a close up on him at that point.

Why would Patriots fans want Ben injured or care one way or another? The Patriots own Ben and The Steelers in the postseason. In fact, I don’t believe The Steelers have ever beat the Pats in the postseason….ever.

    Here’s to Ben being ok.

  24. I think Mark Barron better open his checkbook because a big fine will be coming his way. You can’t knock out the stars of the league like that.

  25. Don’t like seeing anyone hurt…Don’t care one way or another about the Rams…but that was not a dirty hit… There was a lot of low action and the guy was engaged in that from what I could see…I saw no intent there…

  26. As a Bengals fan I’m embarrassed my fellow fans rejoice at someone’s injury. Yes, I think the Steelers intentionally took out Palmer’s knee but Ben and the current staff had nothing to do with that.
Enjoying an injury to a player is shameful. Have some class.

  27. If there is any justice, then Ben will be back this season. He was playing magnificently this year. He is tough as nails. Any team that beats the Steelers without Ben gets a hollow victory. Anyone happy about this injury has no class or self-respect.

Get well Big Ben. Hoping for the best.

Actually they got us in the ’97 playoffs 7-6 fellow NH guy, but I agree even with a healthy Ben there not coming into Foxboro and getting a win.

    Not happening.

  29. There’s a difference between cheering for someone’s injury and simply recognizing sometimes in life what goes around comes around.

I’m not talking about him specifically and the rape allegations, but more so the Steelers org. I would never wish injury on someone, but it’s also hard to feel sorry for the Steelers (and Tomlin) given their long history of cheap shots.

Best of luck with your recovery, Ben.

Would the Bengals be able to win without Dalton in the regular season? Would the Packers be able to win without Aaron Rodgers? Would the Patriots be able to win without Brady? No no and no. Ben is the team MVP. Steelers will be lucky to score 13 points per game with Vick at the helm. Teams can now key on Bell and let Vick stay in the pocket. I would be surprised if Vick survives 3 games.

  31. The Steelers won’t be worth watching without him. The look on his face said it all-not good. Vick is too far past his prime. Bell should be getting even more touches now.

  32. So the Ravens are trash and Ben is likely out for the year. How many picks will Dalton throw in the first round bye?

Thanks Madam obvious….so tell us how the Cheaties will try to scam the system? Be nice to people when you are on top because they are the people you will see on the way down. With all the bandwagon trolls the Pat’s have seeing their first SB victory the scurrying to jump off the bandwagon when shady Tom Cheater Brady leaves will be epic….

Yeah, except when it happened to Brady, he didn’t get that call either. There was no flag, no suspension, and no fine when it was Brady.

  34. I heard the redskins called the steelers and offered to trade RG3 for a six pack of iron city and a primanti sandwich. The steelers declined the price was too high.
