Ravens, Steelers release mostly made up injury report

AP

Thursday night games make for shortened preparation time and other assorted headaches, but the show must go on.

Part of the deal is that teams must release an injury and participation report on Monday and Tuesday, just as they would on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a Sunday game. So, the Ravens and Steelers did just on Monday, even though the Steelers didn’t hold a practice at all.

The story of the day with the Steelers is that Ben Roethlisberger will be out “weeks,” and the injury report reflected that. Also projected to have missed practiced Monday had there been a practice were Cortez Allen (knee), James Harrison (thumb), Ryan Shazier (shoulder), Daniel McCullers (knee) and Matt Spaeth (hand).

Shazier sat out all of last week and missed Sunday’s game. McCullers has a lingering injury, too, but the others stem from the game against the Rams.

The Ravens did hold some sort of practice and Chris Canty (Calf), Crockett Gillmore (calf) and Breshad Perriman (knee) didn’t participate. Left tackle Eugene Monroe was limited; a concussion kept Monroe out of Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. Gillmore is off to a productive start and tight end and with the Ravens needing playmakers besides Steve Smith, his status is something to watch between now and Thursday night.

  1. Why can they not schedule Thursday games after bye weeks? You don’t play on Sunday, you play on Thursday, you don’t play on Sunday, then you play on Sunday. Two half weeks off. Simple. There are always two Thursday games since 4 teams get bye weeks at a time.

  2. Has there ever been a more-bitter fan base of the defending champions? (That’s a rhetorical question; someone explain what rhetorical means to the nearest Patriot’s fan) It’s as if they feel some sort of inferiority for how they won….NAH…that can’t be it.

    I call them Martyr’s

  4. The Bengals can’t win in the post season…it’s like they have a poor man’s Payton manning…looks good in regular season, then red romo comes out in the playoffs.

  5. If you told me a month ago the Raiders had as good a chance of making the playoffs as either of these teams, I would have laughed. Now ……

But it’s okay because it’s not the Patriots

Not everything is about them. Go be insecure somewhere else. This is about the AFCN where men play.

  7. Besides the cardinals, the ravens next 9 games are very winnable. Watch out for a hot steak that turns this around. I know you a day this about a lot of games, but they are 3 plays away from 3-0

Maybe you should look up the term hypocrite. If this story was about the Patriot’s injury report being made up, all the self righteous fans of the other 31 teams would be acting like the Patriot’s are the only team that does something like this and the team should be penalized. We don’t have an inferiority complex since we have been superior for so long. We have a problem with the hypocrites that ignore what their team has done in the past and act like they are fans of a team run by Angels and Saints! Haters don’t want facts to get in the way of the truth so click on my name and read!

this is some seriously funny stuff. “Where men play.” I can’t stop laughing at that.

Just from a factual standpoint, I will point out that in the last two games the Pats played against these teams in question, both coaches showed that they had not prepared their team well. The Ravens defense wasn’t able to identify the two eligible receivers on the line of scrimmage (Hint – they are the ones closest to each sideline) while the Steelers offense was not prepared for a defensive line shift (shockingly deceptive in that it is done by every team every game) and failed to cover the TE in the league on no less than three plays.

Their reaction to not being prepared? Whining about it.

These men. They cry. A lot. Yes.

Because in an ongoing effort to watch player safety, Goodell and the league started a Thursday night viewing where they could see if playing on fewer days rest was a factor in injuries. It’s science, man.

They are only looking out for the players. Not sure why you have such an attitude about it.

Do you know what else was winnable? Their first three games. Do you know what wasn’t won? Their first three games.

  13. “Has there ever been a more-bitter fan base of the defending champions?”
    .
Sure, let’s see your team lose multiple draft picks over BS charges constantly brought by other teams and the NFL. See how bitter that makes you feel.

  14. Was looking forward to this game when the schedule came out. Ravens/Steelers are historically always phenomenal and as close to real football (Namath and Unitas type football) that we still see.

On another note, why are Patriots fans trolling AFCN boards?

  15. Pats V Steelers first game of season what happened? The Steelers had major communication issues. Everyone naturally went ballistic. Yet it was not cheating as the Pats also were having issues. Now if This were the Pats persecution all over again. But because it is two other teams it’s a non issue. that is except that Harbaugh has cheated ask the Steelers and Colts #challengegate But it’s ok if John Hypocrite er I mean Harbaugh does it

  16. That reason is simple Vindication Yes the Pats have cheated in 07. But if you listen to haters that is all the Pats are about and it seems to them that the Pats are the only cheaters. They are wrong

Friday or Saturday night game(s) instead of Thursday.

    It has to happen soon.

Same (probably more) revenue without the short week pain that players/coaches/fans all hate.

    ————————————————-

Probably not until the post season like they do now because they don’t want to anger the dads that want to see their kids play in the High School and College games on Friday and Saturday. Those seasons are over by January.

  18. I welcome any negative comments about my Ravens. They deserve it.

They are undisciplined on defense. Plain and simply the biggest reason why we are 0-3 and batting .500 for our last 40 games.

Joe needs to stop with all these slow starts in games. Its killing us because he can’t establish any momentum and put games away for us.

  19. The Ravens did hold some sort of practice and Chris Canty (Calf), Crockett Gillmore (calf) and Breshad Perriman (knee) didn’t participate.

Wow. So the Ravens do practice. I can’t imagine how much work has to go into something like that to suck as bad as they do! My hats off to you Baltimore!
