Thursday night games make for shortened preparation time and other assorted headaches, but the show must go on.
Part of the deal is that teams must release an injury and participation report on Monday and Tuesday, just as they would on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for a Sunday game. So, the Ravens and Steelers did just on Monday, even though the Steelers didn’t hold a practice at all.
The story of the day with the Steelers is that Ben Roethlisberger will be out “weeks,” and the injury report reflected that. Also projected to have missed practiced Monday had there been a practice were Cortez Allen (knee), James Harrison (thumb), Ryan Shazier (shoulder), Daniel McCullers (knee) and Matt Spaeth (hand).
Shazier sat out all of last week and missed Sunday’s game. McCullers has a lingering injury, too, but the others stem from the game against the Rams.
The Ravens did hold some sort of practice and Chris Canty (Calf), Crockett Gillmore (calf) and Breshad Perriman (knee) didn’t participate. Left tackle Eugene Monroe was limited; a concussion kept Monroe out of Sunday’s loss to the Bengals. Gillmore is off to a productive start and tight end and with the Ravens needing playmakers besides Steve Smith, his status is something to watch between now and Thursday night.
