Panthers add another defensive end, sign Ryan Delaire

With the loss of foundation piece Charles Johnson for the next eight weeks, the addition of Jared Allen wasn’t quite enough for the Panthers.

So they added another defensive end this morning.

The team announced they had signed defensive end Ryan Delaire from the Washington practice squad. to make room for him on the roster, they released veteran defensive tackle Colin Cole.

Delaire went to camp with the Buccaneers as an undrafted rookie from Towson, but didn’t make it through final cuts there.

The Panthers might be scrambling for a bit on defense, as Johnson was placed on injured reserve/designated for return, star middle linebacker Luke Kuechly hasn’t returned from his Week One concussion yet and linebacker Thomas Davis suffered a pectoral injury last week that coach Ron Rivera didn’t know the details of Monday.
