Greg Hardy won’t “reminisce,” will talk about Tom Brady’s wife

AP

Defensive end Greg Hardy is back with the Cowboys this week and, as Darin Gantt noted, he’s ready to come out “guns blazin’” after his four-game suspension to start this year and his long stay on the Commissioner’s exempt list last season.

That wasn’t a particularly good choice of words for a player whose absence was caused by a domestic violence arrest that included allegations that he threatened to kill his ex-girlfriend and threw her on a pile of guns. It wasn’t the only time during Tuesday’s media session that Hardy made a questionable statement.

Hardy made it clear that he wasn’t going to express any remorse or regret for his actions. He said he doesn’t “reminisce” at one point and also said only that he’s sticking to the game plan when asked if he planned to do any work with groups working against domestic violence. That game plan apparently has something to do with Gisele Bundchen.

“I love seeing Tom Brady, he’s cool as crap,” Hardy said via the Dallas Morning News. “Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game. One of my favorite games of the year, guys.”

For some reason, Hardy was then told by a reporter that Jaguars quarterback Blake Bortles probably has an attractive wife as well.

“Is she?” Hardy said. “This kind of information is important. That’s how I select my Pro Bowls.”

Brady responded on Wednesday by saying he doesn’t care about Hardy’s “personal comments” and is only worried about Hardy’s football ability.

We’d love to say that the same might not be true of some NFL teams considering signing Hardy after this season, but history says that Hardy will keep getting jobs in the NFL as long as he keeps sacking quarterbacks. Sunday will bring the first chance to see if his unchanged personality off the field is matched by his production on it.

  1. Just remember that this guy and Brady at one point had the same exact suspension length, but they couldn’t be further apart in the discussion of class. Goodell clearly cares about character

  2. Yeah Im coming off over a year out of the league for my questionable behavior Twords women so let me start off my first week bank by pointing out every QB in the NFL who has a wife I would have sex with. Hardy needs to just play football and be as quietly as possible off the field. If he doesn’t do anything stupid like this stuff again and can have 6 sacks this season I would be willing to bet he still gets a pretty nice long term contract

  3. Really? REALLLY??? We are going in there minus our starting QB and our playmaker WR and you are poking the fricken shark? Stupid.

  4. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. He is trying to get in Brady’s head by talking about his wife. It reminds of the scene in Rocky III when Clubber Lang made the “real man” comments to Adrian. But irregardless he clearly “doesn’t get it” on any level and has the maturity of a 13 year old.

  5. A current player talking about another player’s wife or children is strictly off limits.

    Any intelligent player knows that.

  6. Brady might not say anything right now, but when he’s on the field and Gronk runs Hardy over he will jaw at him all day. Why would anyone give bulletin board material to any elite quarterback let alone Tom Brady?

  7. Oh boy I’m sure Brady’s gonna be fired up now. Before these comments, Brady planned on having just an average game vs. the Cowboys, but now he’s going to try really hard.

Greg Hardys on a quest to beat every NFL players wife. This monster must be stopped

    RELEASE THE KRACKEN!!!

  9. Speaks a lot about the NFL actually. No wonder they didn’t do more than air a commercial (kind of) for domestic violence last year. But hey. play ball. The legaus is an unapologetic as Hardy. Guess they secured those season tickets sales, huh?

  10. Why would anybody care what this loser has to say? I realize Texas can be a bit backwards in its thinking, but would any Cowboys fan condone this animal throwing their sister, mother, cousin into a bathtub and choking her half to death. Goodell and Jerry Jones should be ashamed of themselves for giving this woman beater a voice.

  11. And this is what Goodell somehow considers “integrity”, a woman beater talking about other player’s wives to the media.

Greg Hardy is nothing but human filth who happens to be able to play football. Over under on the number of games till he abuses some other woman and is suspended again – 4.

  12. Since judge berman won’t serve justice then hardy should on bradys knee. Hahaha!!!! 31 teams should be tired of ne cheating & take matters into their own hands.

  13. He’s no just a football player he’s a magician. He just turned hater nation into Brady fans…for one week.

Greg Hardy! Ladies and Gentlemen he’s here all season! (maybe)

  14. Why is this jerk still in the NFL? Believe in Karma? Jerry Jones signs this idiot and all of a sudden the Cowboys are plagued with injuries. Karma, Jerry, Karma. This is what you get when you make a deal with the devil.

  15. He will be in trouble again, sad how stupid some folks are, I guess its good he’s an excellent football player or who knows what type of trouble he would have caused already….he hasn’t learned a thing about women except, they will cost you a lot of money to keep their mouths shut…eventually he will run into a woman who doesn’t want his money until after he’s in jail…..

  16. Wow! Not only his statements but some of the supporting comments here. Someone even tried to turn people finding his statements, “deplorable” into racism.

    Common sense is dead.

  17. Sorry Hardy you’ll have to settle for Jerry and some glory hole. Maybe you can use your imagination?

  18. This guy is such a scum-bag and loudmouth. You’re a wife beater, a gun nut, and an ignoramus. Shut your mouth about other guy’s wives and be happy you still have a job you loser.

    WHAT…A…TOOL.

Why, is it supposed to make him mad when someone says he has a hot wife?

  20. A. Dallas has little chance to win this game without Tony and Dez. Maybe, MAYBE, if NE is looking past this game they might get lucky but I think the Patriots are too well coached to let that happen.

    B. I still trust the legal system even with all its faults.

    C. I know it doesn’t pay to use logic on the internet but the Cowboys do very well, 5th lowest since 2000, in keeping their players out of trouble. They put very effective support systems in place back when Irvin was getting in trouble. They may bring players in with past issues but they keep them out of trouble. You’re welcome.

    D. Continue with your illogical hate.

Kind of creepy to even bring up a guy’s wife….

  22. IT would make me mad if the guy saying I had a hot wife was from another team and had a history of wife abuse.

Three guys you do not trash talk before a game: Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Steve Smith Sr.

  25. Way over the line. Where are the coach and owner on this? Turd should remain on the bench. Talented trash. Stay classy Jerry.

  26. Way over the line to refer to a players wife as good looking, and to say you like Tom Brady and that he’s cool?

You can’t even compliment someone while avoiding a media storm without upsetting those who are waiting for something new to be upset about every day.

  27. Hardy you are an idiot and perfect for Jerry Jones and Cowboys. Oh by the way you owe us 11 million dollars you scrub!

    ******

Brady always says what he’s actually thinking — on the field. That’s why the Pats ar 4-0 & Brady has been near perfect, 9 TDs, no picks.

  29. “I love seeing Tom Brady, he’s cool as crap,”

WOW what a bad guy. Don’t overreact or anything people looking for something to be mad about. Oh wait, that seems to be common among most Americans in the current society we live in.

  30. Before you jump on the lynch mob here consider this story about Greg Hardy after the death of his teammate DeAngelo Williams’s mother, in regards to the funeral.

“One player came,” Williams said. “And there is nothing that he can say or do in my eyes that is bad. … Greg Hardy. All the players around the league, all the players in the locker room, they texted and called. But Greg Hardy showed up.”

Ey Any body who can keep His Sense of Humor Despite having a Rough Few years Is Al-Rite in My Book!!!

I’d be inclined to say and do whatever I want as well if my pay checks look anything similar to what Hardy gets.

  32. I think he knows exactly what he is doing. He is trying to get in Brady’s head by talking about his wife. ————–
He doesn’t even know how to get in his own head, let alone someone else’s.

  33. I’m pretty sure Tom Brady knows his wife is hot. He did leave another woman while she was pregnant to be with her. I’m pretty sure anyone who’s seen a Victoria Secret calendar knows her and her friends are hot.

Still trying to figure out why all the outrage other than it’s an article about the Cowboys.

  34. Maybe I’m just getting old. I just don’t understand the modern day athlete. This guy commits a crime, appeals said crime, pays off the only witness, gets a suspended sentence. Misses an entire season, still gets paid for said season. Get’s picked up by another team, serves league imposed suspension and starts of his comeback talking about “guns a blazing” and another players wife and sister along with generally mentioning other wives.

We definitely live in a parallel universe. It’s amazing how we all live here on earth with similar rules and customs but can individually live in completely different universes.

And to think I was hoping my Raiders kicked the tires on this dude.

    Ugh!

  35. I think this was almost a trap game for the Patriots with the Colts game on the horizon and Romo and Dez out of the game, but with this kind of comment there is no way the Patriots will be sleeping at game time.

“Have you seen his wife? I hope she comes to the game. I hope her sister comes to the game, all her friends come to the game. One of my favorite games of the year, guys.”

That may be harmless, but it’s still purposely disrespectful and it’s enough to make Brady and the Patriots focus on the game at hand whether the injustice is perceived or real.

    Don’t step on Superman’s cape.

He did something right by going to the funeral… He also thinks Brady’s wife is hot, which is a pretty commonly held view. However, he decided to make a disrespectful comment, which was wrong. One thing doesn’t justify or condemn the other.

  38. “No, I’m just getting ready to play, man,” Brady responded. “I’ve got to focus on my job. He’s a great player. It takes a lot of different things to handle a guy like that. But he’s been a great player since he’s been in the league, so we’re going to have to prepare for him and be ready for all different types of moves that he’s got.

Oh, he’s so angry. This is a non-story where he was clearly joking and has no issue with Brady

  39. Brady ended his presser early today. said he had a lot of work still to do……….

50+ on Sunday. Brady’s got a huge o-line this year plus Gronk. Hardy will get his.

The point is, it doesn’t matter one way or another. Perception is all it takes to motivate the team.

The Patriots always say they don’t care, then in the video after the season they talk about all the bulletin board material that Belichick showed them. They listen and they care and they use it to feel disrespected and motivated to win.

I wish, just once, Brady would say what he’s actually thinking.

    ———–

How well does it go for people that tell the media what they are actually thinking?

I am sure Brady tells the people that care about him what he thinks. Just not the general public.

  44. Why are people ever surprised at what players say or do? Is there something in the job description that says that pro football players must be scholarly, gentlemen or of high intellect? Hell no. Just the opposite, they must be willing to inflict physical punishment on opponents merely for the entertainment of the hoards of fans that want to bet on them. This isn’t the chess masters club.

  45. Guns blazing. Hmm. He also said he was full of juice. Which would explain a lot of his behavior and at least half of his sacks.

  46. What an idiot ill take the under on him signing anything more than 3yr deal. Anybody would be stupid to commit serious money because apparently he still hasn’t got it through his thick head.

  47. Oh man, there is going to be a beat down in Dallas, and Hardy is going to be on the receiving end this time.

    Get your popcorn ready!

  48. Hat other reporter should be fired for bringing up a man’s wife and stirring the pot.

  49. IMO, the real story is “Don’t be open with the media, because they will twist what you say to their agenda”

Really, what did he say that was bad? He said Tom Brady has a pretty wife, and her sister is pretty too. Big deal.

The other comment about “coming out guns blazing”. Its a common expression.

  50. Greg Hardy could have pulled a Rothlisberger (I know I probably spelled that wrong, but I refuse to look his name up) and just shut up and played ball.

Instead, with half his team on crutches, a defensive backfield that is not good and can’t cover big plays, and one of the best offenses in the league coming to town, what does Greg Hardy choose to do?

Make comments about a first ballot HoF QBs wife. Moron.

  51. He is just a football player. You who cast your judgement should familiarize yourself with the filings in the court case. The girl accusing him of his horrible assault (which left her with only marks consistent with defense) has already admitted to smoking weed and snorting coke as well as drinking that night. If she was EVER welcome in Hardy’s home, it didn’t last long. And when she was getting moved toward the door, she made a big scene.
