Shareece Wright gets his wish

Cornerback Shareece Wright wanted to be cut by the 49ers. And now he has been.

The 49ers announced Saturday that Wright, who signed a one-year deal as a free agent from the Chargers, has been released. The move was made to create a roster spot for guard Andrew Tiller, who was promoted from the practice squad.

Wright received $1.5 million as a signing bonus, and he was earning a base salary of $850,000. He had $25,000 in per-game roster bonuses; by being placed on the inactive list for the first four games of the season, Wright lost $100,000.

A vested veteran, Wright now becomes a free agent. He can collect the balance of his base salary as termination pay, sign with another team, and retain that paycheck, too.

The 49ers face the Giants on Sunday night on NBC.
