Not long after news broke that two witnesses called police earlier this week to report an argument between Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel and his girlfriend and that the two admitted to drinking, Colleen Crowley took to Instagram to try to downplay the incident.
“Fortunately, it was just an argument, it was private, and we’re all good,” Crowley wrote.
Crowley tagged her post, “Before things get blown out of proportion.”
In the police report, Crowley told police that Manziel pushed her head into a window.
The first witness called police after Crowley tried to exit the car while Manziel was driving on Interstate 90. Another called when the arugment continued after Manziel and Crowley had returned to his home in suburban Avon.
No charges were filed.
Manziel spent three months in rehab last winter for reasons he has not discussed.
Manziel missed the last two preseason games due to what both he and the team called lingering elbow soreness. Ten days after he got his first win as an NFL starter last month, the Browns extended the contract of quarterback Austin Davis by two years. Now, that move looks like it could have been more than just procedural.
