Tarell Brown getting second opinion on serious foot injury

While most of the injury speculation for Sunday night has been centered on Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, one of the guys the Patriots would like to have to slow him down might be missing.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Patriots cornerback Tarell Brown missed another practice today, and is likely out for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game rematch.

Brown has what is described as a “potentially serious foot injury,” and he’s getting a second opinion.

The former 49ers cornerback signed with New England in July, as part of a revamped secondary which figures to be tested Sunday night if Luck is healthy.

  1. People need to stop calling this a rematch, this game isn’t the AFCC, this is just another stop on the pats “middle finger” tour. The pats opponent for this season’s AFCC is TBD.

BTW, given how very good the pats front defensive 7 is I doubt luck (or whoever else has the misfortune to play QB for the colts this Sunday) is going to be standing upright long enough after the ball is snapped to throw too many balls into the secondary.

Maybe the pats will send the colts a “I participated in the pats middle finger tour” banner so they have something new to hang on the stadium wall this year

  2. .
That would explain why Belichick pounced on ex Ravens CB, Rahsaan Melvin, when he became available. He must think a change of scenery / system will rejuvenate Melvin.

  3. While most NE fans think this game will be one-sided, I am not so sure. With Dion Lewis not practicing, Nate Soldier on IR, Dont’a Hightower limited and now Tarell Brown not practicing the Patriots have some key people out. The game will be closer than most think.

Luck 4 tds against this weak secondary the bettors in Massachusetts will lose there money when they give the colts 10 points

That could very well be true. But Brady’s 5 TDs and Blounts 3 TDs will make Lucks TDs meaningless

    Is Tom Brady playing?

    Is Lagarrette Blount playing?

    Is Gronkowski playing

    Is Julian Edelman playing?

Not worried about a cornerback who wasn’t likely going to be on the field for very long anyway.

  6. It’s a big misnomer to call the Colts-Pats game a rematch of the AFCCG. It’s just a reg season game incl key injuries.

  7. Well, if there was ever a game where the haters prediction that the Patriots player losses in the defensive backfield would kill them this is the game. Not only are the Patriots down three starters at the the two corners and the slot from last year’s super bowl they are down two of three new starters from the beginning of this year with Fletcher cut and Brown hurt. The NFL had told us that the Cols offense was going to propel their team to the super bowl this year. Let’s see what happens. I a betting on Belichick despite all of those roster changes.
